Enclosed with the mail is the report on ‘Whether or not LEADER should expand to Cuba’. The report consists of the analysis of the present situation, options, measure of progress, recommendations and the action plans. Yours sincerely Arunkumar B EXECUTIVE SUMMARY LEADER is not expanding despite being in the society for 12 years. The reason is the lack of funding and it must choose among options for the expansion of LEADER. You may expand the LEADER to Cuba this year or in the coming years, or you may choose to increase the number of partner sites in Russia itself. The option should satisfy the LEADER’s objective, give experience to the volunteers and participants, and make a good relationship with the universities. It is recommended that LEADER should expand its project to Cuba by taking a few calculated risks and must provide real value to the participants from Cuba. ...I don’t feel that anyone has a true way of making any decisions. To learn any portion of any theory should have some proof and not just one person ideal of what or could happen. Religion has always been the backbone of most theories and I think that because it has ran the world since the beginning of time. Take Adam and Eve for example. Were they really true individuals or the makeup portion of someone’s mind? Proven fact? I don’t think so. Having facts is the best way of teaching someone the REAL way of any theory. Being a subject of a theory will make it more realistic to the student or to the world. The world is a student that will tell if it is a theory or proven facts. Having to be taught from theories alone would be cruel. Only having one way of thinking would be a downfall for mankind. Foe me being an IT student, they teach you that there is ALWAYS two ways or more to get an answer. Now that is fact. If I was told that I could only have one way of doing things then it would not open my mind to do it any other way. Could that be a factor for a theory? Maybe. When I read the pages of “The lynching of Bill Dembski “ I was appalled at the thought of having to be replaced by a intelligent design. Would this “thing” be a True person or just an ideal from the professor’s mind? What is his basic’s behind this? Intelligent design points not to a creator, but to a designer -- a crucial distinction. “If you examine a piece of furniture,” he explains, “you can identify that...

...Written Analysis 5 For my popular culture topic I chose to analyze what others think about the TV show CSI. Though the previous four written analysis’ I have a better understanding of what they do think of the show after applying the aspects of this class. I found out through the first written analysis that many people believe that real life crime scene investigators really do everything that is portrayed in the TV show. However, that is just a myth. Real crime scene investigators are the individuals in the lab running tests on evidence that law enforcement collects and gives to them to test. They do not make arrests either. That is also left up to law enforcement. I also learned that forensic science has become a pop culture icon because of the show. It has made a lot of individuals to take college courses to learn more about it and to even change careers because they want to be just like the characters on the show. In the second written analysis I depicted that the show has a stereotype about crime scene investigators. The show portrays them as the crime solver. This is simply not true. Real crime scene investigators simply analyze the evidence in labs. Law enforcement is the ones who solve the crimes. They use the analysis of the evidence from the crime scene investigators to solve the crimes and to arrest the ones who committed the crime. In written analysis three, it was hard to decide if the characters in the show were heroes or not. But, if you look at the show...

Executive Summary Anita Roddick was the founder of The Body Shop International PLC. Despite growing a successful business, the company recently ran downhill after losing revenue growth starting in the late 1990s. One of the major problems was intense competition. This unexpected phenomenon caused The Body Shop to lose its image of being the “go to” place in Great Britain’s many shopping venues. Later on, a new CEO, Patrick Gournay, took charge and was faced with a declining pretax profit of twenty-one percent. Facing a dilemma, Gournay’s recommended plan of action included a focused product strategy of increased investment. He was confident this strategy would produce improved results. To be effective, this strategy incorporated a reduction in product and inventory costs as well as a reinforced stakeholder culture. To justify the course of action with this strategy, we will prepare a three-year financial forecast to help predict The Body Shop’s future earnings and financial needs. This forecast will be based on The Body Shop’s historical financial statements to create the best possible financial model going forward. II. Statement of the Problem When Anita Roddick was still CEO, the main problem affecting The Body Shop was not being...

...Written Case Analysis Case: Taran Swan at Nickelodeon Latin America (A). Harvard Business School Case Jon Goebel Question 1: Considering various behaviors exhibited by Taran Swan, what do you think are the two predominant personality traits that characterize her? Rely on the class discussions from Session 1. Highlight important examples from the case that led you to this conclusion. In the case study about Nickelodeon in Latin America, Taran Swan exhibits glimpses of each of the five personality traits, but the two traits that most clearly epitomize her dynamic personality are “high extraversion”, and “high openness to experience”. Taran Swan has a tendency toward “high extraversion” and demonstrates this in how comfortable she is networking throughout all levels and functional areas within Nickelodeon / MTV and parent company Viacom. She was dealt a challenging situation when initially asked to launch the network station in Latin America. Taran is given direction to solicit resources and support from MTV personnel, but these employees are not familiar with the Nickelodeon brand and hold obvious bias toward their own network (MTV). Despite this situation, one MTV employee still gives Taran very high praise for not only involving all departments of the organization, but also for offering the opportunity to contribute their own ideas. Taran’s tendency for extraversion also allows her to infuse a sense of camaraderie...

...But how will we know if expensive lawyers are being paid to make sure the experiment is never conducted? With that in mind, it is only fair that evidence supporting intelligent design be presented to students alongside of evolutionary theory. No one is being forced to believe in God so there's no real violation of separation of church and state. Why not enliven this with a student debate on contrasting theories? Why not have an intelligent design advocate stop by science class to be interrogated? Many students, like me, find it hard to understand evolutionary theory, and the scientific method itself, until they are illuminated by contrasting points of view. Each of the articles cited has a detectible bias. However, they were written objectively. The only fact that was left out...

...Broadening Your Perspective Identifying Habits that Hinder Thinking This is an opportunity for me to take an account of my bad habits. The following habits are difficult to admit to myself, however once admitted it is easier to overcome them. Mine-Is- Better Habit On countless occasions throughout my childhood, I have demonstrated the “Mine- is- Better” habit. I grew up on U.S. Army bases as the daughter of a ranking officer. There was numerous times where I would pull “rank” on the other children. Such as, there was an instance when the neighborhood children and I were outside waiting for the ice cream truck to make its daily rounds throughout the base housing. When the truck arrived on that particular hot summer day, I decided, as well as informed the other children, that I was going to be served first. In the military this was an enormous deal because it was an unspoken rule to cause confusion with the child (ren) of a ranking officer. I was demonstrating the superiority of my mother over the other children’s enlisted parent. In retrospect, it was a very ridiculous thing to do as we are all equal, especially as it relates to standing in line for ice cream. I allowed the ego of my mother’s position to hinder logical thinking. Resistance to Change Habit Another bad habit that I realize is the “Resistance to Change” habit. A couple of years ago, a friend of mine lost his job after having been with Front Point Security for over three years. He did not think...

It is assumed that the factors that influence these practices are mainly because of examination culture, the time constraints and the teacher’s personal belief of written feedback. CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION 1.0 Introduction Written feedback is a long-standing educational practice that can arguably...

...Jordan Hollingsworth Professor Appling English 1102 28 February 2016 Paper on Simon J. Ortiz “(My Father’s Song) A poem is a set up of words out together into a piece of writing that partakes of the nature of both speech and song that is nearly always rhythmical, usually metaphorical, and often exhibits such formal elements as meter, rhyme, and stanza structure. In the poem written by Simon J. Ortiz is a very touch poem about ones father and how he misses him dearly. He recalls a memory they had once shared together. The next poem that will be laid out and made more clearer to the viewer will be a poem about a mans father and his hard work. The narrator of the story is one that is recalling his past and how he felt bad for his dad as a young boy. As he has gotten older and more understanding to challenges in life he starts to relative the hardship and to feel bad for his dad. Some expressions or descriptions that are used inside poems are figurative language, symbolisms, metaphor, simile, and personification. Figurative language is words or expressions with a meaning that is different from the literal interpretation. Symbolisms are the use of symbols to represent ideas or qualities. In the essay we will discuss the ideas of how the author uses different ways that they have put there thought together in the poem. Metaphor is a term of used to imply comparison between two literally incompatible items; it does not use explicit connective words. Simile is an explicit comparison...

...In language itself the spoken language is primary language and the written language is secondary language. There are thousands of languages in the world. Many of them are spoken and written. Some of them are only spoken but not written. But there is no language that is only written but not spoken. Oral communication is constantly and continually employed by an individual in the familial and social environments. Oral communication has also its vital role in business situations. Oral communication in business has a variety of purposes. The communication of information is one purpose of oral communication, and may include informing employees of company-related issues, training new hires, speaking to the general public and maintaining business to business relationships. Persuasion through marketing and advertising is another purpose of oral communication in business. It is used to show a group of people a need and provide a solution to that need. The following are some of the situations in which oral communication is employed. Example 1: Presentations One form of oral communication in a business setting is a presentation. Presentations are usually an organized conveyance of information to a group of people. Stylistically, they tend to be far more formal than informal, and rely more heavily on data and facts than they do analysis. Presentations may include some dialog after the sender of the message has finished their speech, but they are, by and large, much more monologue...

...to actually find people who were relevant to the study, to save both time and money. The research paper is set out in a typical style, written in a formal format with sections of information broken up under relevant headings. I found the paper read progressively, with the information flowing from one section to the next. After the Data Collection and Methodology section comes the Findings, which includes methods of analysis and tables presenting the data and findings. This is then followed by the paper’s Conclusion. The aim of the study was to understand the effect social media marketing is having on brand loyalty formation, from the perspective of the consumers . The results from the study concluded that a significant contribution was to practise and literature. Social media marketing, at that point in time, was defined as a new, albeit growing platform for building those positive relationships with customers and developing positive brand images. A drawback to this paper is that it was written in 2012, and when dealing with such a rapidly changing and evolving medium, three years can be seen as a long time. I don’t believe that this paper, or its findings are out-dated, but this was written in a time when social media was only just developing as a tool for modern marketing. I still believe it to be a well-conducted study and a well-written...
