...Memo To: Senior Management From: Dana Armijo Date: April 25, 2015 Labels on water bottles There has been an issue that needs to be addressed concerning the labels on our water bottles. We got a call on how the label on our fresh spring water shows a mountain and says it is fresh water. After reading the fine print they realize that it is not from freshwater spring. They say this is false advertisment. I am looking at this situation closely and realize that we need to move some things around on the label. We are known for the mountains on our labels and I do want to keep that image. We keep the fresh spring water logo. On the back I think that we should put the facts of how and why we have fresh water. After doing some research I found out that it is ethical for us to show the facts and show that we do have natural spring water. By showing the facts that we have natural spring water we will be confident and stand out against the other companies that look like they are hiding something Mineral water must not contain less than 250 parts per million of total dissolved solids. It has relative proportions and a consistent level of minerals and trace elements stemming from the moment the fresh water was removed from its source. Spring water is fresh water that comes from an underground formation where water naturally flows to the earth's surface. Purified water is water that has been distilled, deionized, had reverse osmosis or gone through a similar...

...The ethical dilemma that I faced happened around ten years ago when I was the manager of a sporting goods store the summer of my first year of college at the university of Toledo. I got the job because of being an athlete my entire life and I love being around sports so for a summertime job I figured being football player for Toledo it would be beneficial for the store and myself to be a part of the team and also to help increase profit and sales because of my athletic background. Well after about a month of working there I had become pretty good friends with many of the employees that also worked there with me. We all bonded pretty quickly because of athletics being our common bond. At play it again sports people traded in there used sports equipment for newer stuff they would get either consignment, trade, or cash all based on condition and also based on market value of the products being traded. After a couple months I started to notice golf products and summer sports products missing granted as an employee we were allowed to sign out any used golf item to take out and try and the goal of that was to be able to give customers imput on how the club or clubs felt played and worked on the course. But as an employee you were only allowed to take out clubs for no more then 72 hrs because of potential profit loss/customer loss as well. A couple of the employees were putting more money into other items people were trading and basically in a way stealing another product because...

...As an operations professional, you need to be able to interact effectively with many internal customers—from corporate managers to field representatives. One of your peers is Jessica, who is a talented operations professional but who is downright rude to her internal customers. Her attitude is so bad that people around your company ask specifically to deal with you instead of Jessica. You’ve heard many tales about her sarcasm and her unwillingness to deliver anything other than the absolute minimum to other employees. You’ve thought about talking to Bruce, the manager to whom both you and Jessica report, but you and everyone else knows that they’re dating. In the meantime, your workload is increasing because of Jessica’s reputation. How do you handle Jessica and Bruce? The ethical issue is Jessica and Bruce are dating and Bruce is in a managerial position. This is making it hard on everybody involved. It is making hard on you because he is the manager that you and Jessica report to. Jessica is not doing her job very well and you need to take this problem to her first. You will try and make her see your point of view in a professional way; don’t make an enemy of her. Try as a friend to make Jessica see what is going on, this can be done by explaining that this could be a problem that the other employees could make hard for you and her. They could go to Bruce themselves and as we don’t want to make Bruce’s job any harder we could settle this between the two of us. If she...

...Business Ethics Across Cultures XMGT/216 May 24, 2015 Diane Garvey Business Ethics Across Cultures The first article I read was about business ethics in China. According to this article, the Chinese value gifts and actually see them as a form of respect by the person giving the gift. Chinese people also believe in sages rather than a single God and they believe everything should be in harmony. These people place a special emphasis and are even dependent on the relationships of relatives and friends while attaching importance to the feelings of others. They see all relationships as lifetime commitments. In China, privacy is not highly valued, as they tend to work in groups rather than individually. This culture is made up of introverts who would rather sit in silence with courtesy, which is highly valued, rather than confront an issue. In marketing and advertising, the Chinese tend to value inner beauty and wisdom over looks and exaggerations. Chinese people do not like touching and actually avoid eye contact as a form of respect for one’s personal space. When making a deal or negotiating any business with the Chinese people, it is inevitable that such meetings will be carried out over food and drinks as they work to form lasting friendships with the people they do business with. Since they do not like the pressure of making strictly contractual arrangements, they avoid doing this over a meal. By eating with potential partners, it takes some of the focus off of contracts...

They broke down frequently. And to change paper size from 8.5 x 11 in. to legal-size, the user had to remove one paper tray containing 8.5 x 11 in. paper and replace it with a tray containing legal-size paper. Newer machines had two trays, one for each paper size, that permitted changing paper size at the push of a button without changing paper trays. The company’s purchasing agent, thought this would be a labor-saving feature and decided to include it in a specification for purchase of new machines. The copying machine industry called this feature, “dual-cassette” design. ...Business Ethics Reflection Matthew Todd XMGT/216 4/22/12 Mike Ishmael Business Ethics Reflection Matthew Todd XMGT/216 4/22/12 Mike Ishmael In my previous job, there was a couple of ethical dilemmas I had over a period of time, but I’m only choosing one of them to focus on in this paper. This situation involved me catching another co-worker stealing products from the shop. I didn’t say anything at first because I thought maybe this person had gotten permission to use these items. I decided from then on that I was going to watch this person closely, to see if they would take anymore products. Sure enough they did, and that was the moment I knew for sure they were stealing from the company. I felt like I had to do something about it, but I just didn’t want the guy to find out that it was me that turned him in or he could retaliate against me. I thought about not saying anything, just so I could avoid causing any waves at work. If I overlooked the problem then I would be going against my moral values when faced with a difficult dilemma like this. Once I thought about the situation more I knew that I couldn’t let that happen, so I decided that the right thing to do would be to confront the person about what they had been doing before I went straight to management and turned them in. Once I confronted them about what I had seen them do. They were initially embarrassed about it, and didn’t know what to say. After talking to them more, I found out that they were having...

...Business Ethics Reflection Patricia Henson XMGT/216 Version 2 January 29, 2012 Jeff Harris Business Ethics Reflection Every day people face many different issues in their work environments. These issues range from pay related issues to performance issues and among them are the ethical dilemmas that they may face. Making ethical decisions are often comprised in the workplace therefore it is important to so what is morally right. In 2009, I was hired by a small family owned business. The company is an Optical Store, which has 2 locations. I work for the main store where the manager is located and myself and another employee. The environment was nice and comfortable. Only 5 employees and everyone got along and it was a joy to go to work every day. However, an ethical dilemma occurred before I started and thereafter, I was involved because I had suspension that something was unethical about my manager’s behavior and work ethics. This is real life ethical dilemma therefore I will not mention names; to protect the privacy of all the stakeholders involved in this situation. I became somewhat uneasy by the manager’s action because I felt that her actions were unfair when it came to duties being assigned to the employees. I did approach her about this problem but little was done to improve the work ethics between the employees. In addition, I felt it would be safer to just go along with the matters at hand because I was not part of the family. Anyway, the manager began to act...
