In this era of rapid social and technological change, people spend most of the time with the electronic media to entertain themselves. People, especially young people, do whatever the sports stars and the movie stars do in their personal lives. They like to follow their stars. This is the reason many young people are involved in various bad activities such as smoking, drinking, drug addiction etc. because they just do what the stars do in their personal lives. In our society every person has a role and some responsibilities. Everyone in this society has to follow some rules. It is not just about the sport star or movie stars; it is about everyone in this society. We expect everyone to obey some rules. The only difference between normal people and the movie and sport stars is that people look up to these guys. Some people treat them as their role model. So if the role model of a person is doing something wrong then they just accept it without looking at the side effects and the problem it will cause to other people. We cannot just ask the movie and sport stars only to obey rules of the society, everyone has to follow the rules. But at the same time, we cannot expect the stars to do only what the society wants, they have their personal lives also and they should be allowed to do what they want to do in their personal life. The millions of dollars that are paid to them are for their jobs that they do and not for following what society wants from them. This takes us to point that, it is not just the responsibility of the stars; it is the responsibility of the parents also to stop their young children to follow their stars blindly. Since we cannot just stop the stars from doing what they want, it should be a two sided attempt to control the situation and both the people and the star should abstain from doing things that harm the society and themselves also. One more entity that is responsible for making the situation worse is the role of media. Media show people more than what is expected from them. They show people what the stars do in their personal lives. Young people see and follow this. Media should be stopped from peeking into the personal lives of the movie and the sport stars and even if they do they should not show everything, they should censor things that can have bad impact on the young generation. To conclude, i believe that it is should be a two sided phenomenon, both the society and the stars should avoid doing things that can have bad effect on the young generation. Both the stars and the society alone cannot take the full responsibility so it should always be two sided attempt.
