...Women In The 19th Century Women in the 19th century were very dependent on men and focused very much on mans needs, even if it meant their happiness. In the short story, "The Story Of An Hour" by: Kate Chaplain, the author uses a hopeful, intense, and jovial tone to show that women can live a happier better life when they aren't controlled by anyone but themselves. Most wives in the 19th century were not happy with the relationship rules that had come with there husbands. " It was not very uncommon for them to commit suicide". (Women In Us History) because " every man had the right to force his wife to do anything he wanted". (Hasting Press). In the story " The Story Of An Hour " by Kate Chaplin Mrs. Mallard was sad at first about the death of her husband but she then looked further down her life to do freely what she wanted, " she saw beyond that bitter moment along procession of years to come that would belong only to her, and opened and spread her arms out to them in welcome" (Apple Bee 625). Mrs. Mallard can now enjoy her new life and do as she wishes without being controlled. After her husbands death she kept whispering " free! body an soul free!" (Apple Bee 625). She can live her days freely without being told to do anything unwanted by any man. The author uses a hopeful tone to show that Mrs. Mallard is a happier person when she is living like a free person and not controlled by anybody but herself. Women had no say in what they wanted, and...

...Logan Hornberger Physiology 330 2/17/2016 Acclimation of metabolic enzymes in reptiles It is necessary for reptiles and all other animals to maintain a state of homeostasis within the body. I fluctuation of enzymes within the body must happen in order for such animals to maintain relative body temperatures needed for survival. Reptiles that undergo changes in body temperature over the seasons will demonstrate fluctuations in the activity of metabolic enzymes; specifically lactate dehydrogenase, citrate synthase, and c-oxidase. Body temperature is a key factor in increasing the rates of specific temperature-sensitive physiological functions. The rates of enzymatic reactions correspond directly to temperature. As seen in fish, body temperatures adjust to changing water temperatures by adjusting overall storage and function of enzyme-catalyzed metabolic processes. In freshwater turtles, enzymatic activities were slowed during winter months compared to warmer summer months. Thermoregulation along with control of enzymatic activity allows for maintenance of body temperature within a narrow range. Researchers looked for a correlation between body temperature in different seasons compared to the activity of lactate dehydrogenase, citrate synthase, and c-oxidase. Researched tested these variables in alligators located in the wild at Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge. Researchers used a sample of 14 males and 16 females in the summer and 17 males and 14 females in the winter in this experiment...

...Up until the Great Depression the question of welfare rarely came about; help from churches, charities, and families were expected to help those in need. This historical event in U.S. history was certainly and turning point and gas pedal for what we know today as welfare. American’s were faced with unemployment, due to the economies inability to create enough jobs; thousands of determined and hard working American’s were slowly running out of options and time through no fault of their own. It was impossible for any private groups to provide sufficient and immediate aid, therefore, the only place to look for help was through the federal government. This help, known today as welfare, changed the United States in both positive and negatives ways. Today, according to the US Departments of Health and Human Services, 12,800,000 American’s are receiving welfare benefits, 46,700,000 are on food stamps, and the total number of Americans on unemployment insurance is 5,600,000. (SITE) With the economy being in yet another all time low, those fortunate enough to live without such aid find it unfair to pay for those who “don’t deserve it” or those who “did it to themselves”. America finds itself in a heated debate regarding whether or not things to be changed, or if welfare should be terminated all together. For some, like Kai Nielsen a philosophy professor at the University of Calary, argue, “In a society that can afford to do so, everyone’s needs should be satisfied.” (SITE) Then there...

...states that people learn through watching other people, such as their parents and/or teachers, and copying the behavior that they have seen. In other words, they learn through observing and imitating others. This process is called Observational Learning or, simply, Modeling. In this case, the process of Observational Learning or Modeling may explain how much the yayas influence their alagas. The primary socialization forces that children have are their parents, with their yayas considered as a close second. Socialization would start with the child’s social and emotional bond with the socializing agent (Sandhu, 1995). Should the child only be in custodial care, the child will simply learn situational rules and expectations without attachment. Warm, sensitive, and consistent relationships with an adult form the foundation of the attachment bond. The yayas may be the ones to spend more time with the children than anyone else in the household which makes the children view their yayas as their model. Therefore, it can be said that yayas co-create the future of the child, along with the child’s parents and relatives. The yaya does this by creating an emotional climate in the home where the child feels valued and safe, and by they stand in relationship with the child (Sandhu, 1995). With this bond, a child learns to expect care and learns that when someone is in need, someone will respond empathetically. From these experiences, the child learns the basis for constructing subsequent relationships...

You always go to work at this hour.” Grandma said “Lola you know many are expecting me so I need to work.” I replied and saw her face all grumpy and sad in the screen.” Don’t worry I will catch with you but i really need to go love you!” I sighed as I disconnected our chat. We only get to see each other using Skype these days like how her favourite love team converse too. Aldub, the unusual love team that my grandma adores, started when Yaya Dub who plays a role of a grumpy girl who finally smiles for the first time when he saw Alden. Who would have thought that they would be trending everyday with millions of tweets at that. The love team is a mainstay at the tv noon time show Eat Bulaga where a 30 minute segment called “Kalyeserye” takes place . Maine Mendoza commonly known as Yaya Dub and Alden Richards swept the nation with their team up plus the special participation of Lola Nidora and her sisters, Tinidora and Tidora. The main reason why they are a hit was because they only see each other in split screens and they never talk casually but by means of audio samples and songs. The appearance of the old fashioned lola Nidora hypes up every scene. The fact that the acts are not scripted but comes out naturally is also good. The show not only gives entertainment but also values of how to dress up as how a girl should, the preservation of...
