...In the past year homeless students has been increasing. The numbers are expected to increase this following year as well. There are programs that have tried to help out many homeless students. Several government funded housing programs are offered in the state of Washington (Washington Homeless Assistance and Eviction Prevention Programs). There is also different funding levels, such as emergency solutions grant. This grant will help homeless students pay portion of their rent (Washington Homeless Assistance and Eviction Prevention Programs). One resource that is available for homeless students is here in the Tri-Cites. "Benton and Franklin Countries Department of Human Services" is located in Kennewick, Washington (article 1). Here homeless students can contact the department for a free vouchers for a motel, housing needs, or even rehouse the homeless with the help of Federal Grants (article 1). For more information go to www. Many students here in the Tri-cities don't go home after school because they are homeless. The Federal Programs Director, Jack Anderson, helps homeless students find resources for their success (Lazara, 2014). Having to worry about what you're are going to eat, what clothes to wear, and most importantly where to go to get a roof over there head is something a student shouldn't have to go through. ...Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc. Company Background Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc. (HHYY) was founded in 1993 by two business school graduates who thought there ought to be alternatives to the video game craze. Searching for a toy that could have mass market appeal they settled on yo-yos. Yo-yos have a nostalgic appeal to the baby boomer generation and are a novelty plaything for generation X. So, the main marketing thrust of HHYY is directed toward parents and grandparents rather than to the children who will actually play with the yo-yos. The latest advertising campaigns show 50-ish men competing in 1950’s era yo-yo competitions, grandmothers showing their grandsons how to do yo-yo tricks, and pre-teen girls trying to get their yo-yos away from their dads who are monopolizing them. This advertising campaign has been highly effective. After a couple of rough start-up years, HHYY achieved profitability in 1996 and has seen sales and profits increase each year since then. HHYY is a closely held Subchapter S Corporation with all the stock being held by the founders and their family members. The founders, John Cooper and Juan Martinez share the position of Office of the CEO. John is also the Chief Operating Officer (COO) while Juan is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). An organization chart for HHYY is in Figure 1. The firm employees about 350 people in a single location in the suburbs of Cut and Shoot, Texas. Figure 1. Hi-Ho Yo-Yo, Inc. ...Robyn Rihanna Fenty (born February 20, 1988), known by her stage name Rihanna is a Barbadian recording artist, actress and fashion designer. She lived the life of a normal island girl going to Combermere, a top sixth form school. Rihanna won numerous beauty pageants and performed Mariah Carey "Hero" in a school talent show. Her life changed forever when one of her friends introduced her to Evan Rodgers, a producer from New York who was in Barbados for a vacation with his wife, who is a native. Rodgers arranged for her to go to New York to meet Jay-Z, CEO of Def Jam Records. He heard her sing and knew she was going to be incredibly successful. She was 16 when she was signed to Def Jam. Since then, she's amassed phenomenal success. After watching Rihanna’s 2013 Grammy performance of her hit song ‘Stay’ it led me to conclude that Rihanna has a Strong personality, an assumption which is based off the application of Evolutionary psychology and Existential psychology concepts. As she sang, the audience could feel her raw emotion, it didn’t feel rehearsed it felt real, which was only suitable since the song can be seen as a representation of the current dilemma she currently faces in her love life with ex lover Chris Brown. Existential Psychology is the study of human existence, however Rollo May focuses on concepts like freedom, responsibility, Authenticity, Death, courage, anxiety, destiny, dasein , daimonic , etc. All of which can be found in the traces of rihanna’s personality that...

...The Real Definition of Success A mansion, a sports car, and financial freedom are all very alluring signs of success to some. To others, success includes materialistic things such as a yacht, a camper, and a cottage tucked away by the lake. According to a study conducted by World Health Organization, 15% of people in high-income nations report being depressed, while only 11% in lower-income countries report being depressed (Bromet). Looking at these statistics, one can assume that the correlation of wealth and depression are positively related. It is clear, as shown by the previously stated statistics, that money does not always lead to happiness. To others, success may also be defined as “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect, or fame” (“Success”). However, the true definition of success does not include any of these things listed above. Success does not include material goods but it is rather tied to expansive, more meaningful perceptions such as happiness, persistence, and overcoming hardships. One way to measure success is by how happy a person is. For some people, they might feel their happiest when they have lavish items. However, this is not true for everyone and is not a correct scale of success. Happiness for most people is a joyful and affectionate family. If this is what success means to someone, then one’s family is what outlines one’s success. Dr. Dennis Kimbro, author of multiple best sellers, interviewed many successful people about their definition...

...Op-Ed Who pays the bill and who makes the profit in treating chronic disease? .............................. Lack of financial incentives means prevention is often ignored John Roberts Bellingham, WA 98226 Correspondence to: Dr Roberts jcroberts@hinet.org “A courtyard common to all will be swept by none” goes a Chinese proverb. Sadly, this ancient saying remains true in the modern American medical system. At the start of the third millennium of Western culture and progress, the suffering of medical illness arguably may be higher than in the centuries past. Until the last 50 years, illness—often combined with poverty—was a greater shortener of lives. But death, compared with today, came more quickly. In practice, an internist sees the local viewpoint of national statistics: 90 million Americans alive with chronic disease who spend more than 60% of the country’s health care budget.1 Of the 20 or so patients that many physicians see each day, one, maybe two, might not have a chronic disease. Almost every one of these patients has needs far beyond what a doctor can provide. And much of the reason is inferred from two questions: “Who pays the bill?” and “Who makes the profit?” At a policy level, the “epidemic” of chronic illness is as much a philosophical debate as it is a medical problem. If people live longer, they get illnesses of aging—dementia, loss of vision and hearing, organ failure, and cancers. In addition, chronic illness today may not...
