...Challenges Young Adults Face Today Being a young adult today has many difficult stages of life that can be quite challenging, even under the best circumstances. During puberty, young people are invaded by a series of new emotions and feelings. Daily pressures faced by teachers and peers. They are exposed to the heavy influence of television, film, music and the Internet. Hence, a United Nations report defines adolescence as "a period of transition that is often characterized by stress and anxiety." Today, young people looking for a quick solution to their problems, for example in drug addiction, prostitution, euthanasia, bullying, suicide, among others. In this case drugs affect our body, losing their logical thinking , and making the forget all those problems that have been disturbing them. Sometimes they just have influences that affect a person for lack of will and likewise assessed, fall into the same temptation of drugs, both legal and illegal like. There are people who have everything but if they lack love and security they seek this out, or just out of curiosity mind and then create a rollercoaster of a problem. Drug addiction is a touchy subject, because many people go so far as to sell everything they have and leave everything for a single dose of what make them happy, drugs. The only treatment to come out of this is the support from hi/hers family and most of all depending on thee person who is at the moment with this addiction has the willpower to go to rehab...

...DEP2004 Professor Madden April 20, 2014 Stress on Young Adults Adolescences and Young adults go through one of the most stressful time periods in their lives, with body transformations to imbalanced emotional levels, growing up into adulthood is a difficult task. Especially when that adolescent grew up into an adult quicker then they imagined. Young adults are not prepared to handle the next level in their life, and did not take classes of how to prepare for the real world in college, instead got thrown into the real world with no experience on hand. With that said, very little time is given for the young adult to understand and comprehend everything that is occurring in their lives and this leads to serious stress and health problems that can be irreversible. A majority of American teenagers follow the same path that their parents had done before them; graduate high school, get into a major university, graduate with a degree, go straight into the workforce, and work. By the time a college student finishes and acquires their degree, they survived on how to deal with stress that finals week can give with cramming five exams in one week and meeting deadlines due to procrastination. With all of these last minute stressors it can cause rapidly increase stress level in a very short amount of time. According to the American Psychological Association, stress leads to an increase of heart rate and can even cause a sudden death if the person is dealing with a huge amount of stress...

...having a longer transition between adolescence to adult hood, or they’re having difficulty finding a job, or maybe they’re just not used to the idea of living without mom and dad, young adults should be allowed to live with or near relatives until they are emotionally, mentally, and financially. Studies show that our generation is experiencing a longer transition between adolescence and adulthood. More than one out every ten young adults still live with their parents and forty percent of all young adults find themselves moving back with parents at least once. Many never even move out once! More than sixty percent of young adult males stay living with their parents until they are in their late twenties. Two out every three young adults are living with a romantic partner, later returning with parents after a divorce or a failed relationship. Although the number of young adults living with a romantic partner is rising, the average age at which people get married is also rising. What used to be the age that people would be married by, twenty one has now risen to twenty nine! I suppose our generation seems to be experiencing some commitment issues as well. Lack of work in this bad economy is a good motive to live with or near relatives too. Young adults go through an average of eight jobs in their twenty’s, that’s a lot of job changes. With it getting so hard to find a job and the risk of losing your job always running, many young adults feel more economically secure living with parents...

...Human Development October 14, 2014 In order to gain more knowledge about young Psychosocial Development in Merging and adulthood, I interview a young lady in college who is approaching her 30th birthday in January. For the purpose of this interview I will called the young lady Paige, a factious name to protect her privacy. Paige is the only child for her parents. She grew up in an upper class neighborhood in Greenwich where money wasn’t an option for luxury. Both her parents are still alive and a fixture in the social life like Donald Trump. When I asked Paige about what influences her path and becoming an adult, she answered with angelic smile that life experience and her environment forces her to be an adult at an early age as 13. For example my mom had been sick at home with Osteoporosis (a joint disease) since I was 12 years of age. I had to make sure she was properly care for at night, by assisting with medication and her frequent bathroom visits. My parents had so much pride to have a living care giver. They don’t want the stigma of been sick and unable to be a nursing home picture to anyone in their social circle. I noticed at the end of her answer she got really joyfully like a child getting her first Barbie doll. In addition to that, Paige mention that she her parents thought her at early age that financial and educational success is not an option. She was helping her dad in his Law office every other weekend which earned her $20.00 “chuckle”. Moreover, Spanish...

...they may do, all heroes of young adult fiction- and by extension, their readers- are eventually asked to consider the two great questions of adolescence; ‘Who am I now? And who do I want to be when I grow up?’ As they do so, they inevitably embark upon a quest for identity, an apparently innocuous pursuit that lies at the very core of the genre.” (The Pleasure 19) In each of the three books, the reader can see individual or groups of young adults having to unite to achieve a certain goal. In class Professor Walker discussed how rebellious many young adults become as they reach their mid-teens and twenties. Becoming rebellious as a young adult is often seen by our parents as a reckless, impulsive eruption of emotions from within that allow rash decisions to be made. However, in each of the young adult, dystopian novels being reviewed, the main characters are considered rebellious by the law makers and rulers even though they are pushing for change in their unjust society. This essay will discuss three dystopian young adult novels, Divergent, The Hunger Games and Unwind and how each of them reflects on possible futures for humanity and the way young people are called to respond to the changes in the worlds they live in. Before getting started with the novels themselves, getting a brief overview of dystopian societies in Young Adult fiction is necessary. In, Contemporary Dystopian Fiction for Young Adults: Brave New Teenagers, the authors examine young adult dystopian societies, “YA...

...Putting young adults who committed severe crime in to the jail should not be mandatory. There has been a lot of cases where young adults commit severe crime and put in to the adult jail. Young adult criminals shouldn’t be considered as an adult when they commit crime because they are not mentally fully grown up. Instead of putting young adults to the jail, they should be dealt with specialist to work to their success of rehabilitation. However, there might be people who disagree with this because crime is crime and the youth who commits crime probably won’t understand how bad jail life is due to their lack of knowledge but if they experience the intensity of jail life, they will understand that the life in jail is very harsh and won’t commit...

...Unit 2:3 Communication and Professional relationships with Children, Young People and Adults Unit Reference: F/601/3313 Unit Credit: 2 1. Know how to interact with and respond to children and young people. 1:1 Describe how to establish respectful, professional relationships with children and young people. The starting point of any relationship is to spend time getting to know the young person. Get to know their likes/dislikes. Allow them time to talk and express their views. There are a number of basic rules that apply to effective communication and interaction. * Listen to the other person. Listening isn’t just hearing but being active in the communication. Demonstrate you are listening by mirroring the question, engage in the conversation about the subject they are talking about, ask questions to show that you are wanting to know more. * Respect their views. You may not agree with their views but respect their right to hold them. You may challenge their views but use this to open up discussions and allow you both to explore the different opinions. Show them that their views are important. * Use language they will understand. Using language that may be above their level will confuse them. They will miss out on important communication and disengage from learning, alienate them from the conversation and ultimately affect their development. Using language that is below their level is disrespectful and will not engage or challenge them. * Respect their culture...

...What I see as the Biggest Challenge Young Adults Face Today Zig Ziglar believes that “sometimes adversity is what you need to face in order to become successful” (Junttila, 2010) but will young people in this 21st century be able to succeed considering the myriad of challenges they face on a daily basis. The problems faced by young people today are more than usual. We’ve heard time and time again that the youth is the future? Is this really true, considering the weight of their problems? They are riddled with obstacles which serve to hamper their future. Three of the biggest challenges young adults face today in my opinion is unemployment, lack of role models and obesity. Persons between the ages of 16-24 face multitude of problems. One can only imagine. Let’s take a closer look at youth unemployment. Unemployment is defined as the situation where an individual is willing and able to work, but for some reason is unable to find work. A study carried out in the United States, stated that young people are nearly three times likely to be unemployed than the rest of the population, this is the largest gap in twenty years. The study also went on to say that the number of people aged 16-24 who are not in full time education or employment has increased a great deal. Over the last quarter it has increased by 8000 youths with 498 000 in that age group without a job (Invincibles, Seeberger & Adair, 2015). There is another study carried out in the Caribbean by the Caribbean Development...

The specific purpose is to persuade young adults to make better choices in life. Because of the challenges young adults face today; I feel that you adults have to better them by learning from their mistakes and the mistakes our elders has made. Introduction How many young adults will like higher paying jobs? One of the challenges young adults face today is education. Young adults lack a bit of education, because I know I have. So many young adults lack career skills and knowledge. Many young adults have no clue about budgeting. In the world we live in today, we need education. A lot of young adults are 2 stereotyped so let’s prove them wrong with good education. Education may not be the key to happiness, but it definitely is the key to a lot of other things which come together to make us happy. Learning the importance of an education can help motivate you...

...and health-affecting habits. Middle adulthood differs from young adulthood in social needs (although the basic need for socialization remains the same), and represents a shift in attitude about relationships and vocations that moves from fluidity to stability. Health practices are also at work here, with factors such as diet, exercise, and drug use in young adulthood impacting middle adulthood later on. Erikson believed that people need constant contact with others throughout their lives, from birth to death, whether that contact is romantic intimacy or a relationship with friends and family. In romantic relationships, young adults tend to be “serially monogamous” [ (Berger, 2010) ], or remaining emotionally or sexually involved with only one person for a period of time, though the relationship is rarely permanent, and the young adult may have many of these relationships during this stage of his or her life. This is typical for the age group, which is characterized by an unwillingness to commit permanently to a job, a spouse, or even an educational program. Young adults today are markedly different from young adults in the previous generation, in that they marry later and may not start families or enter a permanent vocation until they are well into middle adulthood, or around their late twenties or early thirties; this is in part due to greater life expectancy and more accessible birth control, allowing young adults to experiment before settling down to permanency [ (Berger...

...The video demonstrate that the new generation of games (the virtual world games) are heavily being addicted by the young adults and teenagers, the new generation of games could have uncountable consequences after they are being drawn into worlds that looks much similar to the real world. Some of the teenagers committed a suicide because of an addiction to a virtual world game, these new generation of games make the teenagers addicted to the game, less sociable, lazy, and psychological problems. As these games are increasing dramatically in the market and online, more teens are becoming addicted to it by spending tremendous time of their life's playing these games .As these games have no end , they are driving out the young adults as well as the adults into another world of fantasies and illusion ,which make a totally new perception in the gamers heads ,and this could lead the teenagers to be unrealistic ,thinking only in the terms of the game, and as a conclusion, it will cause the teenagers and also the adults to stop thinking about their education or work which is the more important thing in this age, wasting time on a useless things instead of reading a book for example or doing an activity like playing a sport physically. These games could a severely impact their behavior and personality, the teenager and especially the young children's might become more violent, love to hurt other people ,and might give them the motivation to make illegal things since these games stimulates...

...Equine Therapy for Trouble kids and Handicapped Children Equine riding is not just for a person owning a horse. There is one type of therapy that usually contains people or animals, it is animal-supported therapy is a therapeutic approach that brings animals and individuals with physical and/or emotional needs together to perform the therapy. Today there are programs out there that help kids that are in trouble with the law, or come from broken homes, or even children that have autism or even Down syndrome. Horses are a great source for therapy and bonding. There are many types for programs out there to help these children. Lots of them are non-profit organizations and relay on donations. Therapeutic riding programs for disabled children has been around for a while. Some of these programs are ran from charities and are non-profit organizations. ...Jessica K Hirsch Family of Woodstock Paper May 5,2014 Professor Joyce Yip Green Family of Woodstock is more than a gate away for teens and young adults; it’s the exact opposite. As and interviewee for the upcoming position here at the organization, I would like to give you my full appreciation and any knowledge or reasoning of why I applied. When looking at what organization that I should apply for after getting my degree in human service, I was lending more to helping those young people of our country. Reading and learning what this organization has to offer for the young adolescents that are in need as well as the young adult, I felt right at home to where I need to provide my skills. Here is a little bit of what amazed me and what I appreciated this organization for. Preparing an organization is hard, understanding the needs of others and what they possess more of is difficult unless one has a heart for it. As the organization of Family of Woodstock began, the founders found several factors that led them to create such an inspirational organization. From learning and understanding exactly why young teens and adults just decided to escape the confines of the world they were living in and helping them get the proper material they need had to be grateful thought out. Once the problem was recognized, there were actual reasons to plan an organization that would help provided needs and materials...

...Eillan Jennings Professor Annie Murray English 1550 Research Essay 18 November 2011 Does Anyone Really Know How Parents and Teenagers Co-exist? Well I know anyone can relate to having an argument or two with their parents over the course of time but does understand how that the adolescent stage of a person’s life is this most important stage of their life. I believe personally that parents should allow their teenagers the freedom to make their own decisions because of the circumstances that will be soon to come. I am writing this essay to describe why teenagers should be able to express their rights as adults. Either the term close restriction or freedom of expression, of the young teenage mind is meant for some than the other. We are all lucky that we live in a country where freedom becomes a right and I believe that along with conducting themselves responsibly that teenagers should be able to express themselves and be able to experience the freedom they will receive in adulthood, which is expressed into greater detail in the news article “Psychologist Explains Teens’ Risky Decision-Making Behavior” from sciencedaily.com which elaborates on why teenagers have the tendencies that they have. Well as anyone can relate everyone we know in one way or another was raised differently from each other, including myself in their matter. But we all have one thing in common, we feel that at times it is wrong for a certain person to be dictate our lives as if we had no way of being...

...Many people join gangs because they feel unwanted or useless. In the article “The Allure of Gangs” it states, “Often, kids who join gangs feel alienated by their parents, and have lost the connection with them that they may have had when they were small.” This shows that Young people might feel that they don't receive enough support or attention at home. This also shows that they may be trying to escape a negative home life, or may be looking for a father figure. In addition, it states, “They want to feel like they are a part of some kind of family, and the most logical bond, in their eyes, is being with friends.” This shows that kids who join gangs feel alienated by their parents. This also shows that they have lost the connection with them that they may have had when they were small. In conclusion, the feeling unnecessary or useless may be the reason why adolescents join...
