Reduce emissions in Sweden with 40 per cent by 2020 – and finance the same amount of reductions in developing countries
This position paper focuses on goals and targets in the Swedish national climate policy. Church of Sweden will present a position paper on climate and development in 2008, which will discuss support to climate change mitigation and adaptation in developing countries. Introduction The position of Church of Sweden on climate policy has its starting point in a long-standing commitment to the climate issue within the framework of the World Council of Churches (WCC). The WCC has a consultative status to the United Nations (UN) and has participated as an NGO-representative in the negotiations within the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since the Convention was signed in Rio de Janeiro in 1992. Church of Sweden has on several occasions participated in the WCC delegation at these meetings. The position is also based on the Guidelines for the international department’s work on climate issues and on statements delivered by Church of Sweden to the Swedish government. 1 As will be seen from these documents Church of Sweden believes that Sweden should act from a perspective of global justice in decisions and negotiations concerning climate change. Further, Church of Sweden stresses the urgency for Sweden to pursue a forceful climate policy nationally, as well as internationally, and that early action in the climate issues are of decisive importance. Church of Sweden sees climate change as an issue of fundamental global importance for the future, from an environmental perspective as well as from a justice and development perspective. Climate change is an obvious example of how all people belong together. It embraces important issues of equity between rich and poor countries, between those who are affected by the large emissions and those who

The Degradation of Women in Hip-Hop Music Videos and Lyrics Affect Teenagers. Discuss

...Hip-hop began in the 1970s in the south Bronx of New York and served a cathartic purpose for the black community. People could explore issues such as the eradication of racism and equality, but since Hip-hop was created, the cathartic use has been abused through the increased use of misogynistic lyrics and music videos. Artists like Ludacris, 50 Cent and Eminem portray women nothing more than “ho’s”, “bitches” and “freaks”. Nothing more than sex objects; and yet, their biggest fan base is adolescents, this is dreadful as neuroscientists have discovered that the teenage brain still undergoes the same radical development as seen in childhood . Teenagers are easily influenced through their formative years ; as they are consuming music videos and lyrics of a sexual nature, the adolescent will not only become desensitized to the misogynistic views; but may also become a misogynist themselves. The teenagers who are passive viewers and are directly affected by what they view, are those who the supporters of the Hypodermic Needle Theory worry about. The Hypodermic Needle Theory (also known as the magic bullet theory) suggests that viewers are passive and are subliminally accepting a message without considering its faults; this is because as a source (for example, radio) can be the only possible source you could view news from, and you then rely and accept its message. An example of the hypodermic needle theory is “The War of the Worlds” radio panic. In October 1938, there was breaking...

...and songwriter. Drake started off playing Jimmy Brooks on the television series Degrassi. After that career was done he later rose as a rapper, after releasing a couple of mixtapes before signing with Young Money Entertainment (Kellman). For one Drake is one of my all time favorite music artists. He motivates me and puts me in a positive attitude with his original lyrics. The song “Successful” in the album So Far Gone and Ready sticks out as one of my favorite songs record by Drake. He pushes past the dilemmas in his life and all the dislike everybody throws at him but still does what he wants to do. Compared to other rappers, Drake has by far the most meaning in every song he produces. Drake has a music style that isn’t like any other; most of his lyricism is in regard to being rich and famous and also past relationships with strippers. “Drake's sound is labeled as "soft" for his genuine, forgiving lyrics and expressive melody.” (Lester). What is another thing that sets him apart from the rest is he has a wide vocabulary in his rhymes that he produces; you can tell that he is very high educated. From the album Take Care I can sing every song on that album because you can understand Drake when he raps. “Drake has a unique musical style that has set him apart from his Young Money counterparts, especially in his latest effort album “Take Care” (Markman). Drake wouldn’t of made it his far in the rapping game if it wasn’t for his influences in his life along the way. He states...

He began making music and eventually released his first mixtape, Room for Improvement, in 2006. The next year he came out with another mixtape called Comeback Season. His music career was going in the right direction but wasn’t that good yet. “In 2008, the producers of Degrassi overhauled the cast, eliminating Drake's character” (Profile). Without his acting job and not making substantial amount of money as rapper, Drake was on the brink of looking for a job. "I was coming to terms with the fact that ... Psycho

...this movie contains a young woman who steals $40,000 from her employer's client, and ends up on a peculiar journey of terror when she meets a troubled young motel manager who is controlled by his mother. Patrick McGilligan (2003) said that the Bates character was based on Wisconsin serial killer Ed Gein, who may have had an incestuous relationship with his mother. (McGilligan, 2003. Page 579) One of the most important signifiers in the movie is money. Cash is the early desire that leads the main character, a banker named Marion Crane (portrayed by the actress Janet Leigh), toward a path that leads her to her own self ruin. What is indicated is the control that money and gluttony have over all humans, and how one has serious consequence for surrendering to its control. Looking at an exemplary structure made up of the want to marry her boyfriend, but not having the money needed to do so, Crane comes up with a solution that has presented itself. A very wealthy oil businessperson comes in and asks Crane to put $40,000 cash in the bank. (Berger, p. 24) When headed to the bank, Crane begins to imagine how the cash could help ease her stifled wants to leave a boring job and set her free to leave the state, travel and go on with her own romance story. The oil businessman nearly pushes the $40,000 cash right into her hands while trying to seduce her. This may be one of the reasons why she was able to release herself of any fault - she was after all taking money from a rich guy who was...

The Three Parts of Cash Flow Statements Explained

...The cash flow statement is the newest of the three financial statements; companies have only been required to furnish investors with it since 1988. The cash flow statement is similar to the income statement, except that it dispenses with some of the abstract items found on the income statement (such as depreciation) and focuses on actual cash. Most of the information found on the cash flow statement is contained in either the income statement or the balance sheet, but here it is organized in such a way that it is difficult for companies to use accounting tricks to obscure the facts. The cash flow statement is broken down into three parts: Cash Flows from Operating Activities Here you'll find how much money the company received from its actual business operations. This does not include cash received from other sources, such as investments. To calculate the cash flow from operating activities, the company starts with net income (from the income statement), then adds back in any depreciation expenses, deferred taxes, accounts payable and accounts receivables, and one-time charges. Cash Flows from Investing Activities This section shows how much money the company has received (or lost) from its investing activities. It includes money that the company has made (or lost) by investing its excess cash in different investments (stocks, bonds, etc.), money the company has made (or lost) from buying or selling subsidiaries, and all the money the company has spent on its physical...

Cash Flow

...Cash Flow Assignment Companies are required to prepare a statement of cash flows (SCF) in their annual reports because it contains necessary information for external users, such as lenders and investors, who make economic decisions about the companies. It presents the sources and uses of cash and is a basis for cash flow analysis. Because it shows how much actual cash a company has generated, it presents if and how the company is able to pay for its operations and future growth. Companies produce and consume cash in different ways, so the cash flow statement is divided into three sections: cash flows from operations, financing and investing. Basically, the sections on operations and financing show how the company gets its cash, while the investing section shows how the company spends its cash. The cash flow statement is the newest of the three financial statements; companies have only been required to furnish investors with it since 1988. The cash flow statement is similar to the income statement, except that it dispenses with some of the abstract items found on the income statement (such as depreciation) and focuses on actual cash.
