...Youth Ministry “Train children in the right way and when old, they will not stay.” These are words which we often here from our parents, grandparents and ministers, and most likely have memorized, since we were young. As adolescents and teenagers these words probably seemed easy enough for our parents and later for ourselves to fulfill; but the more mature we became, the more we realized what a gigantic task, “to train children in the right way” is. The Lord has entrusted to us; whether we are parents, grandparents, ministers, teachers, etc., a large task. We should feel honored by the trust which we have been given, and therefore need to take the task as it is a matter of life or death. Hence the purpose of this paper is to identify how we as Christian Educators can fulfill this task through Youth ministry and how we can lure the youth in to participating and focusing on what we are trying to teach them. For Youth ministry’s future will be determined largely by the choices and timing of decisions that we make today. However, before I can elaborate on fulfilling this important task, we must first define Youth Ministry is and its purpose. Youth ministry, also commonly referred to as Youth group, is an age-specific religious ministry and is the way in which a faith group, or other religious organization involves and engages with the young people who attend its place of worship, or live in its community. Christian community use Youth ministry to reach out to the youth...

...Running head: YOUTH MINISTRY YESTERDAY AND TODAY Youth Ministry Yesterday and Today Melonie Johnson Grand Canyon University Issues in Contemporary Youth Ministry MIN476 May 06, 2010 Youth Ministry Yesterday and Today Youth ministry is not the same today as it was yesterday. Starting out originally for the sole purpose of teaching youth to read the Bible, it has evolved into a ministry for teaching youth a lifestyle for Christ. Although the mission is to develop disciples for Christ, youth pastors seem to be losing many youth to the ways of the world. In New England people wanted to start educating their children, and change their sinful nature (Senter, 2010, p. 5). Sunday school started hundreds of years ago, before child labor laws. Children were working during the week, and on Sundays they were not doing anything productive and people were worried (Senter, p. 7). The pastors at the church generally treated youth no differently than they did adults (Senter, p. 8). Many parents did not want their children to attend the Sunday school for fear of persecution (Senter, p. 5). This is how Sunday school started, and originally it was establish to teach youth the skills of reading the Bible. During the early 19th century, adults wanted to establish Bible lessons to keep youth out of trouble, and this evolved into youth having their own church service separate from adults (Senter). Pastors began to treat the youth as young adults, but not equal to adults (Senter)....

...Chapter 1- Where do I Start? In Youth Ministry it is like running a race, just like in the Christian life. We must train and gradually build up endurance and strength. We gain strength by developing our “faith, skills, leadership, experience, character, disciple, and passion.” The first of the top ten “youth ministry commitments,” is to move slowly. We cannot change the world in one day, nor can we change every kid in our youth group in a day. We also cannot constantly make changes to our youth group as soon as we think things are not working. Fields suggest that we write down things that we need to change, or want to change and have them to refer back to rather than making immediate changes. The second is to check motives and evaluate your heart. As youth ministers, or interns, we need to evaluate our motives for working with the youth. IF our motives are not pure, they will be exposed. The third is to not get caught up in the numbers. Usually people will determine how effective your youth group is by the numbers but this is not a game to get caught up in. Field explains, “bigger isn’t better; healthier is better.” The fourth is to steer clear of criticizing prior youth ministers or inters. Criticizing others just shows your lack of self-esteem. The fifth is to avoid comparing. “When you compare you lose.” You cannot compare yourself to others, because then you will be holding yourself to human standards rather than God’s. The sixth is to focus on priorities. Sometimes...

...Introduction to Youth Ministry May 1, 2014 YOUTH MINISTRY FINAL Many might ask, why is youth ministry important in the church? The answer to this question is very easy, and it is because youth are the leaders, makers, and team members of the future. They are energetic, mature and smart enough to help with a lot of things like, setting up for church, spreading the word of God to the community. It is also necessary because it helps to have important relationships between youth and the youth workers; and youth to youth themselves, it makes great friendships. Going back to the given scenario, of just moving to a new church and want get involved in their YM. When I first get there I have to first learn how things work there. Get to know the people that are already working with the youth if there is any and get to know the youth in the church. As I am observing how things work I need to be asking be keeping my self in check by regularly checking my motives and my heart. Making sure that on my side everything is good with my spiritual life and also I am in good terms with my family. After making sure that I am set and God has given me the go ahead sign. Then I will go and suggest some ideas to the youth leaders that are already trying to pursue the job. Now lets say this church is a Tanzanian church. I am more that 90% sure that there is no church out there that is doing youth ministry that has to do with relational ministry. I know this is the most healthy way to have a ministry, so I...

In at least five sentences, describe the correlation between Nehemiah's situation and today's youth culture: They were living in a Nation that had been attacked; it was without a defense against the enemy. They would be vulnerable to more attacks if no action was taken. God had placed people that were willing to sacrifice themselves in strategic locations to fulfill the requirement. Even though they faced opposition and hard time they stayed focused on the task at hand. God saw their faithfulness and blessed them for it. 2. In at least five sentences, according the workbook, why does the Church need to provide student ministry? (p. 4-7) The majority of people are saved before the age of 21.Only about four to six percent of high school students claim to have personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Out of those four to six percent 90% of them leave the church with only 20% returning later in life. We need to properly train our young people about what the bible teaches so they have a clear understanding and will not be swayed...

...I believe that it is vitally important to develop and maintain a small group in my current ministry setting. As a youth pastor I feel that students need to have small group times to get to know their peers better and further their own relationship with Christ. Small groups would allow for students to open up to one another and express themselves. Students would be willing to open up and talk about current issues that they are facing. They could do this with other teens and the group leaders. I think that by having a small group it also allows the student to take what they are learning and then learn to apply it to their life. Having a group of individuals to talk with might help them in the application aspect of what they are learning. Putting together a successful small group ministry is tough but the ministry itself would be rewarding. One thing that I believe to be true is that, “the best ministry generally doesn’t occur during a group’s meetings so much as between the meetings.” –Carl George. Think about all the lives that could be reached by the disciples that are being created through a small group ministry. I could see the church growing drastically because of people going out and putting into action what they learned from a small group setting. Communicating with other believers is key to maintaining and nurturing your faith. If you look at Jesus he maintained a small group of 12 that were the disciples. Jesus taught them and strengthened their faith so that they...

...very serious relationship with, my dad says my priorities should be: 1st God, 2nd my girlfriend and family, 3rd should be whatever else I value. This reflects the balance that pastors must deal with on a daily basis, how to deal with a ministry while maintaining a healthy family life. My dad taught me exactly what pastors must do when they prioritize, to put God as number one, then focus on your family, and finally the church ministry. Keeping Priorities In Check There have been many cases where the pastor puts the ministry as number one on their list, then God, and then their families. An instance would be that they feel that God gave them their calling, they follow it, but they forget to keep a daily devotional life with the One who gave them the calling. But this isn’t the correct way to set one’s priorities. Although a pastor may justify himself in that the ministry was his calling, I don’t believe that is the way God called us to conduct our lives. Yes, saving lives and bringing people over to Christ is a very important issue, and a noble cause, but what good is it to win the whole world yet loses one’s sole? A better example would be, to win the whole but lose one’s family. Some people may even put God number one, ministry number two, and family at third place. This is probably the most...

...In January 2008, Department of Telecommunications issued 120 new licences for unified access services on the same day. These licences were issued at price which had been discovered in 2001. Issuance of 120 licences in just one day and at a price discovered in 2001 has drawn the attention of Media, Parliament and informed members of the civil society. Questions have been raised regarding the transparency in the allocation process and the failure in maximization of revenue generation from the allocation of spectrum, which is a national asset. This department had been receiving innumerable references from Members of Parliament and other sources repeatedly, questioning the allocation process and the price fixed for such allocation. The claim in each such reference is that ineligible applicants seem to have been granted licences and at a price which appeared far below what has been perceived to be the appropriate market price in 2008. It was in this context that this department felt that there was a sufficient justification to review the entire process of issuance of licences, award of spectrum and the implementation of the UAS regime. The need for doing so was further justified as six years have passed since the introduction of the UAS regime in 2003. While accepting the Government's prerogative to formulate the policy of UASL, it was felt that an in-depth examination of implementation of such policy needed to be done. (i) Gaps in policy implementation In August 2003 TRAI had submitted...

...gifts? Do you agree with the results? Why or why not? According to the assessment my two dominant spiritual gifts were Administration (23) followed by exhortation (18). I have to say based on the explanations that I agree. I know that God has called me to pastor a ministry one-day and I Currently serve in my local church as a lay minister. I agree with the assessment, as I am usually the first one to organize others to accomplish task and projects and make sure things get completed. I am also looked upon as a motivator at times when we have face challenges in the ministry. I currently serve as the Praise and Worship leader and have often wondered why this exhortative attitude seems to come so naturally. Although I can probably be labeled an introvert, when I am operating in these gift people never seem to notice how terrified I am inwardly. I have always attributed this to God being the one doing it and not myself. PART TWO: Specifically, how can you use your gifts at this time? How might you misuse your gifts? Be specific. The gift of administration is most evident when there is a task or project to complete. Whether it's putting together our music ministry or even planning the events for men’s ministry I usually always take the lead and design a plan that will get the job accomplished in the allotted time. Also in the same areas I am usually the coach or motivator, helping to keep everyone excited and focused through to the end .I pray that I will be able to use these...

...Christian Pastor (Rev. Kenneth Owuor) and analyses change initiatives in pastoral ministries by examining how religious leaders address youth issues both locally and on a global level. The paper looks at what type of leadership styles are best practiced to capture the attention of younger generations, and provide guidance necessary for development of productive quality lifestyles. In an effort to understand the complex nature of the minds of today’s youth, Harold asked several questions on what strategic plans the Pastor had for achieving the goals of his ministry and the anticipated outcomes of effective leadership and guidance on the youth. The interview process identified several opportunities for change and attempts to examine youth ministries as a critical component of religious leadership. The primary purpose of this paper is to look at the lack of emphasis of youth ministries in a population destined to be our future leaders. Interview on Implementing Change 3 Introduction Arnold H. Glasow said, “One of the tests of leadership is the ability to recognize a problem before it becomes an emergency.” In examining the issue of ministry in general and youth ministry in particular, it is clear that there is to a growing extent, a generalized focus on the overall concept of pastoral ministries, which does not always result in fostering the growing needs of today’s youth from a religious perspective. There is a critical need for improvement in leadership...

Based on assumption that the projection is correct, the Ministry has several options to meet the annual budget of $800,000. First, the Ministry could decide not to treat certain disease to cut down the budget. For example, the Ministry could meet the annual budget of $800,000 by deciding not to consider the Measles and Worms treatment at all. Second, the Ministry could make a decision that only pre-decided number of children would be given drugs for treatment. For example, the Ministry could decide to provide free treatments to about 70% of the estimated patients who need treatments to meet the annual budget. Third, the Ministry could decide to subsidize the treatments for the patients. The government could take a responsible for taking up to about 70% of treatment costs and the patients should pay the rest of the amount. However, the Ministry should make a decision after taking into consideration of the magnitude of each disease so that negative impact of the options could be minimized. 3. Based on the total drug costs calculated above, the markup cost that the Minister had anticipated is $116,252 that is 10% of the total drug cost. However, in order to cover the annual operating costs...

...The Youth Ministry Minute, is a regular publication this addition, “The Mindful Youth Pastor” discusses how to teach teens to be mindful in life and through this develop a closer relationship with Jesus. “The most stressed-out people in the world are sitting right there in your youth room every Wednesday night.” This is a problem, teens lose focus in the noise of their lives. The idea it to show teens what mindfulness is, a term the author said he did not like until he fully understood it. Teens do not notice the noise in their lives. The electronic hum is never ending. Every aspect of their lives involves some electronic device, some social platform, some other thing to distract. With no time to unplug teens become stressed out. They have school, friends, home life, and other things to deal with all with their own unique set of problems. This lack of silence interferes with teens developing a scene of being comfortable with themselves....
