In Spirited Away, Yubaba is the mother of Bo. Identical to Kintaro, Bo wears a red harakake on which a big character 坊 (Bo) is written. Similar to Kintaro, Bo has prowess in accordance with his large shape, he can simply damage Sen's arm if he so needs. Unlike her strictness to her workers, Yubaba dotes on Bo and protects him excessively, confining him in a germ-free playroom filled with germ-free toys. In this element, the director is also hinting at a facet of modern-day Japanese parenting: the tendency to spoil/shelter kids while depriving them of bad experiences.
