Is This How You Treat Her? Playing with ladies.
Infidelity is a major problem in relationships. It is the breaking of a promise of being faithful to a spouse or other sexual partner. Yunior is the major character in the book This is How You Lose Her. Yunior grew up with his mother and his elder brother Rafa in the Dominican Republic. He was the bold one, he used to go outside when his father says nobody should. He likes going out to play with other kids then. He did not have a good relationship with his father due to his father’s absence. This made Yunior more adventurous. He likes trying out new things, meeting new people and dating new girls. This caused him to be unfaithful. When Yunior cheated with Cassandra while Magda was his girlfriend, …show more content…
They went on vacation to get back together on the right track. I don’t think Magda really tried to help in solving the problem. She did not talk to him; she did not try to be in charge, and she kept ignoring him when he talks to her. The problem may be inherited as a Dominican man, or behavior but I don’t think Magda put in her best. Yunior’s relationship with Magda was not the “sun, the moon and the stars” (Diaz). It was not the kind of relationship Yunior thought he wanted. It looks like he was confused, but he told Magda that they can work it out, but by then she was gone. I am assuming Magda was already seeing someone else before they parted ways. As a matter of fact, Yunior also cheated on the very-good-in-bed, Mason Gross student, Alma. She grew up on the Lower East side of Hoboken. She had everything a man would want in a woman. She always dressed provocatively to please her man, Yunior. She liked being dirty, not just her nails but being dirty and talking dirty in bed while Yunior watches her to embrace her later. Yunior lost his virginity to Alma, and he brags to his boys that she is more adventurous in bed. Also Alma brags to her girls that he is “ “radical’’ and a real Dominican” (Diaz 48). Everything was great until Alma found out that Yunior was cheating on her with a new girl named Laxmi. She had her suspicions, but confirmed it when her girlfriend opened and read Yunior’s journal. On the other hand, Yunior was on his way to Alma, who is antagonized by her discovery. She cursed and said all sorts of naughty words to him. When he tried to explain, he still lied that where he writes the number of girls he had seen is part of his novel. (Diaz 48 ). This was the last statement he made to her and this was how he lost her after dating for eight months. He never apologized or showed
