“I really enjoy living out of my home country,” says Zoey when being asked if she misses her hometown. Not everyone knew that Zoey is an international student. Being born and raised in Hong Kong, Zoey explains she never had many friends and emphasized that Hong Kong occasionally felt crowded. From a jam-packed city in Hong Kong, China, Zoey moved to Everett in 2015 to pursue a degree in arts at Everett Community College. During her enrollment, Zoey explained that she had not communicated with her family for a month, this made her family, especially her mom, mad and worried. Her relation has improved due to the communication classes Zoey claims she took here at Everett Community College. She eventually changed her degree to arts and communication and is pursuing an AA degree.…show more content… Being lower on tuition than other universities made Zoey decide if she officially wanted to enroll in EVCC. Even so, Zoey faces challenges in finding transportation, not knowing how to drive and being only familiar with bus #7, making it harder for Zoey to go to certain locations. Zoey describes Everett Washington as “different” than Hong Kong. She compares Seattle Washington as a replica of Hong Kong China. Arriving at the age of 17, Zoey found herself in a host family, due to not being old enough to rent a dorm or apartment. Zoey eventually moved due to high rent and light problems, causing herself to struggle but eventually finding a new home. Now being accommodated in her apartment with a roommate and also being close by EVCC, Zoey finds it beneficial. Even so, Zoey finds it hard missing her family back in Hong Kong, China, and the food. But Zoey keeps in touch “I usually call them on weekends, we will have the conversation for hours.” She adds that moving wasn’t hard at all, she never feels
