RESEARCH QUESTION:
What effect does increasing your heart rate have on your puzzle proficiency?
INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
It has been found that there may be a correlation between physical activity and puzzle proficiency.
Exercise increases circulation which can have large effects on learning ability. A study published in
2007 by the Medical College of Georgia discovered that after 15 weeks of regular exercise, test scores improved significantly over pre-trial results. One explanation for this could be due to the impact that exercise has on the brain. Study results published in “Health Psychology” in 2011, found patterns of brain activity when exercising in the pre-frontal cortex, which is responsible for functions such as problem-solving and complex thoughts.
I have come to a stage in my schooling where I don't have compulsory P.E lessons anymore and I was questioning whether I should continue with doing after-school sport, and whether it would actually be improving my academic learning ability. Therefore I am proposing this experiment to gain knowledge on whether exercise has an effect on your puzzle proficiency.
HYPOTHESIS:
It is expected that when ones heart rate increases from physical activity, their puzzle proficiency should also increase. This is because of increased blood flow and brain activity in areas of memory and problem solving causing exercise
