Chapter 5 Conclusion and Recommendations 5.1 Summary of Findings In this paper, we study the M&A performance in U.S banking industry in the period 2005-2010. Our results show that shareholders of the acquiring banks only experience positive excess return during announcement period, which is during 3-day event window { t-1, t+1} and 31-day event window {t-30,t+1}.
