This class wasn’t exactly what I expected, I was not ready and misjudged myself. The way I write isn’t any different, in my opinion, besides the fact I think more about what I’m writing if it's good, and having someone proofread it. This class showed me that I am not a writer, and don’t want to be one. I did not grow as much as expected as a writer, I thought I was going to get better with comma splices, but no improvement. I could improve more on my sentence structure, paragraph transitions

getting your thoughts down. The second about fixing it up and work on editing. And the third draft is to perfect it and fix all the little mistakes and for critiquing. I've never really wrote papers this way but after reading this article I agree with Lamott that it is the most efficient way to write a paper. In the first draft, you just want to get stuff down. A problem I tend to have

writing was my Julius Caesar essay. This was my worst piece of writing because I did not have good preparation and I was slightly rushed while writing the essay. The essay could only be written in one class period, so I was not able to read over my paper and check for grammatical problems. Another personal detail that made me struggle during the writing was I forgot some parts about the play and didn’t understand specific sections. Without fully understanding some parts of the play, it was difficult

Poetry Extra Credit Essay Leading up to it, I was dreading the poetry lecture. I figured it was going to be insanely boring and that I would probably fall asleep during it. I was thinking the same thing even as I was walking into the library. In the car and on the way in I was mentally preparing myself to be bored and not have any fun at the lecture. Hearing that it was a lecure, I was thinking that it would be someone old, white guy lecturing in a monotone voice about different types of poetry

The three areas from the english course that I have devloped the most in is critical thinking, writing and collaboration. The first area that I feel I have improved the most in is critical thinking. Critical thinking is a very importnt skill and is defined as the objective analysis of facts to form a judgment. The reason why I believe I was able to imporve my critical thinking is due to all of the class readings. We read several things from poems, to short stories to actual books and as a result

How does the University of Chicago, as you know it now, satisfy your desire for a particular kind of learning, community, and future? Please address with some specificity your own wishes and how they relate to UChicago. Every time I talk about UChicago, I speak with what I call my “hyper accent”, characterized by excessive hand gestures and fast talking --and an occasional jump in excitement. “The Core and the ‘life of the mind’ spirit, a city bustling with opportunities, the House system, the zany

You’d think that for a teenager (a high school senior at that) writing such a self-regarding thesis would be a piece of cake. Well, you’d be wrong! Having sat at a desk for hours upon hours, staring menacingly at a blank page and scouring through my slowly but inevitably malfunctioning brain for any tips concerning my -so far- second-rate personality was most definitely not on my schedule, but here I am. Alright, maybe “second-rate” is too harsh of a label. Pending? Would “pending” be a better fit

In a world so filled with technology and media choices, it has become easy for some to frequently claim that “the book was better.” While the debate surrounding this issue has been around for quite some time, there is now a fairly new incumbent into the realm of entertainment, the audiobook. Audiobooks are now a more and more accessible form of media consumption, one that, on the whole, meets with far less criticism than its visual counterparts. While obviously not a real book, the act of simply

It was a few minutes after 10pm on a Monday night and I had just remembered that my rough draft essay for my dual enrollment English class was due the next day. Even though I wrote the date it was due down, I always pushed it off to do “another day”, well another day became that night. I had to write 500 descriptive words about the nature of opening and eating a tootsie pop; I didn’t even have a tootsie pop. I knew I would have to improvise, so I grabbed the old lollipop in my pantry and started
