...organisations. Public relations research carried out should ideally focus on three major areas. Analysis of: 1. The situation, which the organisation finds itself in 2. The organisation itself and 3. The publics of the organisation ANALYZING THE SITUATION At every point in the PR planning process it is important for the PR practitioner to fully understand and accurately get the picture of what circumstance the organisation finds itself in at the moment. Without this fundamental knowledge acquisition, the goals that need to be set for campaigns and other programmes cannot be effectively done. It is always the case that there will be either a situation that presents an advantage to the organisation- an opportunity or one that has the potential of hindering the organisation from realizing its objectives- an obstacle. ...Abstract In the world of today with rude competition everywhere, customers’ expectations have become higher than ever. It is not the customers who come towards the products but it is the products which should make their way to the customers. And for this, only competitive businesses that are able to stimulate customers’ interests survive in the market. Therefore firms need to increase customers’ awareness about their products or services to be able to pull and encourage them to engage in purchase of their products. And as such, the promotional mix used by a company is really important for this task. The promotional mix in itself is very broad, consisting of various tools, like advertising, personal selling, direct marketing, public relation and sales promotion. To make the optimum use of these tools, marketers usually select them, depending on their budget and objectives, as well as the sector in which they operate (Kotler & Armstrong 1997). It was a memorable event because there was a cross match of Cultures and ideas, owing to the fact that the groom was not a Nigerian, compared to the bride who was. The event was attended by the family of the groom, who came all the way from England. The parents of the groom had to be dressed in the usual traditional attire, fit for the traditional rites, though It was a struggle to have the head gear of the grooms mother in place because it kept going off at intervals owing to the size of her head. After the traditional rites (payment of dowry) the bride was unveiled as the tradition demands, prayers were said by the oldest man in the bride’s family and it was all merriment and dance. The grand reception was held in a hall(Orchid Hotel) in Asaba and I had the opportunity to witness an opulent and electrifying decoration by one of the best Event Planners from Abuja Nigeria(Red Diamond Events) There was so much class and elegance, the hall was a masterpiece and I felt and imagined...
