...Black and white; happy and sad. These are both opposites of each other. However, there are also similarities between each other. Black and white may be considered completely different, but the resemblance between them is that they are still colors. Happy and sad are perceived as opposites, but the similarity they share is that they are both emotions. This whole concept applies directly to the Christian religions Catholics and Baptists. They are both similar, yet they are both different. Catholics believe that the bishops are the ones that come after Jesus’ apostles, and fill their shoes. St. Peter’s ‘descendent’ is the Pope. The Virgin Mary is extremely important in Catholicism. They believe that she was: Immaculate in her conception, a most perfect virgin in her divine motherhood, the noble associate of the divine Redeemer who has won a complete triumph over sin and its consequences, finally obtained, as the supreme culmination of her privileges, that she should be preserved free from the corruption of the tomb and that, like her own Son, having overcome death, she might be taken up body and soul to the glory of heaven where, as Queen, she sits in splendor at the right hand of her Son, the immortal King of the Ages. (“Munificentissimus Deus”) The Catholic religion is growing. Francis X. Rocca, a reporter on Religion News Services for USA Today, wrote in her article, “The number of Catholics in the world edged up 1% in 2009, the Vatican says, bringing to 1.18 billion...

...Study questions: 1. What are the major assumptions and concepts of the structural frame? The structural frame upholds the notion that organizations are judged primarily on and by the proper functioning of those elements which constitute good organization. For the greater part of the 20th century, the assumptions and concepts of scientific management have informed most theories of practice. One of the earliest precursors of scientific management is Max Weber, hired by Frederick the Great to reorganize the Prussian Army, who conceived the “monocratic bureaucracy” as an ideal form that maximized norms of rationality. His model outlined several major features which include: * A fixed division of labor * A hierarchy of offices * A set of rules governing performance * A separation of personal from official property and rights * The use of technical qualifications (not family ties or friendship) for selecting personnel * Employment as primary occupation and long-term career But, if Max Weber “rationalized” the bureaucracy, Frederick Winslow Taylor “hyper-rationalized’ the bureaucracy. Known as the “father” of scientific management”, he sought an objective, scientific mechanism to improve organizational functioning. Based on these two principal intellectual roots, there are six assumptions of the structural frame: * Organizations exist to achieve established goals and objectives * Organizations increase efficiency and enhance...

Overall, this is the huge advancement in term of understanding lion’s anatomy, and carving method using a tooth chisel tool. The Lion’s muscles and body features were rendered in a naturalistic manner. The 310 B.C lion is arguably the best looking among lion sculptures, because of the details it shows. It also conveys facial expression of the animal and has most realized sculpture. The 380 B.C lion seems like incomplete statue, as it lacks detail, texture and naturalistic feature. And finally, the quality of 325 B.C lion is placed between 310 and 380 B.C. It has a good form, nicely done texture, but it was too idealized. In order to understand the origin and purpose of those funerary lion sculpture. We have to go back about Hellenistic period. After Alexander the Great has achieved his greatest victory, he united all his colonies under one empire, and this event lead to the cultural diffusion. The ancient Greek language, culture, and religions would become common. Therefore, Greece was becoming well-known among nations. ...The importance behind understanding religious doctrine from first centuries B.C. and A.D. lay with comprehending the stance each specific group or individual held during that time period. For instance, Christianity is centered on the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ; the major theme of the Gospels. By attempting to grasp the culture’s point of view from that era we should be able to bridge the gap between their interpretation of religion and our modern day interpretation. Besides the religious aspects of comprehension, there are political attitudes intertwined that cannot be dismissed or overlooked. Whether factions were looking for favor with Rome or within their own community, the political facet is equally as strong when understanding first century B.C. and A.D. religion. Many changes occurred between the ending of the Old Testament book of Malachi and the beginning of the New Testament Gospels. Culture, language, politics, and religion are just a few of them. As a result, different factions, all vying for control and power became prominent in the land of Israel. Scribes, members of Israel’s elite, who were once “mere copyist of Scripture…became experts in and teachers of the Law” From their closeness to the Law, they most likely came from the faction Pharisee (Blomberg, 2009, p. 47). The Pharisees were the Law keepers. That is, their intent was educating people how and why they should follow the Torah. They “developed the so-called oral laws” which...

...During the time of 3000-1600 B.C. there was three successive cultures, Sumerian, Akkadian, And Babylonian. It was during this time that Sumerians began using clay tablets inscribed with wedges-shaped symbols as a form of writing. It was during this time that people began to transmit information. At this point people no longer had to rely on memory or another person for knowledge. With the invention of writing this provided a meaning of passing down knowledge to future generations (Matthews, et al, 2014). In the beginning the Sumerians needed a method to record deeds for property and a way to record agricultural information. And does he have any legal backing that could help in this situation. I may also recommend the soldier take a copy of his lease to JAG to see if they can find something that may help the soldier out. I would also ensure the company commander and 1SG are aware of the situation as they also may have additional ideas that could help in this situation. Situation B First off I am confused how she was allowed to enter the country if she has TB. But putting that aside, There are a few things to consider. First off, she needs to be put in DEERS ASAP. If she is legally dependent on him as a condition for her being here, there should be documentation to support that. Then they need to get her an ID card and enroll her in Tricare. This could be somewhat troublesome as many ID facilities require the soldier to be present. They may need to get a Power of Attorney from the soldier so that his wife can handle this. Also if any medical bills are incurred prior to all this, the soldier may be responsible for paying them out of pocket. There is a good chance AER may need...

...far does sources C and D support what Emmeline Pankhurst is saying in Source B? The view of Pankhurst in Source B is that both women and men are needed, and are equally important in ensuring international peace. Source B says “We believe that under the joint rule of enfranchised women and men, the nations of the world will…find a way of reconciling the claims of peace and honour”. Source C also expresses a similar view, “You must remember that if the men fight, the women are the mothers. Without the mothers you have no nation to defend”. Both sources express the view that the war cannot be resolved without the help of women, as they have a key role to play for the nation, thus encouraging the government to allow women to take part in the war. On the outbreak of war women were not allowed to take part, Emmeline Pankhurst urges the government to reconsider the position and role of women by stressing the importance of women in regards to the nation. Therefore source C does support the views of Source B, both genders have joint importance. Source B also stresses the importance of women joining the war effort, “future task of women, only they can perform it”. Source D also shares this view as it calls for women to join the war effort, “Women must help to save it,” it does not intend to encourage men to join, it is specifically targeted at women. Both the sources express the importance of women showing patriotism, emphasising the importance of solely women. Source B believes that...

...MDI, Gurgaon Strategy Management - II Assessment of the changes in Indian industry environment and their impact in respect of the following sectors: a) Telecom b) Automobile c) Shipping ARPIT JAIN: 12P189 Indian Industries The Indian economy has survived the global downturn very well. It has posted one of the highest rates of economic growth in the world despite other major industrial giants lagging behind. At the end of 2009, the Indian economy was growing at 7% a year. The strongest growth was coming from the manufacturing and construction sector and the weakest section was agriculture. The drawback of such a rapid economic expansion is a rise in inflation. The economy of India is the eleventh largest economy in the world by nominal GDP. Post independence the country went into a fast paced economic growth which was further fuelled by the free market principles started in the 1990’s which welcomed foreign investments. It has been predicted by leading Economists around the world that by 2020, India will be among the leading economies of the world. Four key industrial economic sectors are identified in India. The primary sector, largely extract raw material and they are mining and farming industries. In the secondary sector, refining, construction, and manufacturing are included. The tertiary sector deals with services and distribution of manufactured goods. India's service industry accounts for 57.2% of the country's GDP while the industrial and agricultural sector...

I’ve done a lot of business with Orleans Elevator in Bloomington over the years, but just wonder how long this will continue. I have much invested in my manufacturing plant located right next to their plant, but now that United Technologies [the parent company of Orleans] is all into this FreeMarkets Internet purchasing system, I just wonder how long they are going to be interested in keeping me in the supply chain loop. It’s been a good business over the past few years. I was in the right place at the right time when Orleans got into just-in-time and lean manufacturing in the late 1980s. Initially I was just making the control panels for the elevators. It was interesting to walk into a new building, get on the elevator, and see my company’s handiwork in that beautiful stainless steel panel that houses the buttons for the floors on the building. I could take a lot of pride in the craftsmanship even though it was largely a technology thing. That new numerically controlled machine tool that I purchased in 1985 made making the holes in those custom panels easy. We are still making beautiful panels. Since that time, my company has gotten a lot of other business from Orleans. We now make all kinds of special brackets...
