...First, how many “objects” are in the sample space? We are choosing 10 students from the 45, so: 45 . 10 Now we need three boys, and the number of ways of selecting them will be 15 3 . If we could not tell the girls apart, we’d be done- But of course we can choose them apart. Therefore, we also need to account for the number of ways we can put 7 girls on the committee, which is 30 . 7 Altogether: 15 3 30 7 45 10 ≈ 0.29 3. We will deal all the cards of a standard deck (52 cards) to 4 players (so each get 13 cards). Find the probability that each player gets (exactly) one ace. We might start by thinking about stringing the 52 cards all out in a line- The first player would get the first string of 13, the next player would get the second string of 13, and so on. Since the question deals only with the number of aces in each hand and not the overall hands, we are only interested in the...

.... There are many differences in JNC VII and JNC VIII one noted difference than practitioners are likely is ease of use. The new recommendations seem to be easier for practitioners to use and implement into care (global research). Research for JNC VIII recommendations seem to be very evidence based, expert opinion, and systematically reviewed whereas in JNC VII recommendations seem to be very expert based (JNC). The initial treatment choice for JNC 7 was thiazides, this recommendation has not been made for JNC 8. ...news is that with proper preparation and some tips and tricks from the industry, anyone can learn how to have a less stressful, more successful interview. What to avoid in an interview There are things that one can do or not do, say or not say in an interview that will ruin any chance of them getting the job. The list of interview blunders is extensive and a person cannot prepare for every single situation that may arise in an interview; however, there are a few key things that experts recommend avoiding at all costs. The list, according to Rayburn with interview.com, includes things such as showing no confidence or failing to dress appropriately. Nobody conducting an interview wants to witness a sloppy dressed person with their hands in their pockets and eyes on the floor walk into their office. This can, and probably will, kill the applicant’s chances of getting a job before a word is uttered. Other things that can blow an interview are showing up late, checking your cell phone, asking for time off, bringing food or drink, or being arrogant during the interview (Rayburn, N.D). If...

...Student learning outcomes are a very important part of any training activity (video, presentation, power point, role playing, etc.), because if the training program is not effective, then students/trainees will not learn. The training methods used and the delivery style and appearance of the trainer significantly impact student learning outcomes. Training environment is also very important because there must not be distractions or uncomfortable surroundings. A good trainer must connect with the audience, engage people, effectively deliver information and meet the objectives of the training program. To ensure that I understood “student learning outcomes,” I researched this topic on multiple web-sites, including ones from the University of Washington, Ohio University, the University of North Carolina in Charlotte, California State University and Carnegie Mellon University. I also reviewed our text book to be sure elements of what we have learned throughout this course were incorporated, as well as the use of appropriate verbs for training objectives and learning outcomes (p. 86). I watched 14 training videos on YouTube and also included my own basic training experience at Fort Sill with the Georgia National Guard. Army Basic Training: In my three month basic training program for the Georgia National Guard at Fort Sill, OK., we learned a range of skills from shooting guns to physical fitness to discipline to caring for our uniforms. There also were some top tips...

...Katharine Kolcaba's Theory of Comfort Kelly Ferreira Summer, 2004. In the early part of the 20th century, comfort was the central goal of nursing and medicine. Comfort was the nurse's first consideration. A "good nurse" made patients comfortable. In the early 1900's, textbooks emphasized the role of a health care provider in assuring emotional and physical comfort and in adjusting the patient's environment. For example, in 1926, Harmer advocated that nursing care be concerned with providing an atmosphere of comfort. In the 1980's, a modern inquiry of comfort began. Comfort activities were observed. Meanings of comfort were explored. Comfort was conceptualized as multidimensional (emotional, physical, spiritual). Nurses provided comfort through environmental interventions. It was in this decade that Kolcaba began to develop a theory of comfort when she was a graduate student at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio. She is currently a nursing professor at the University of Akron in Ohio. Kolcaba's (1992) theory was based on the work of earlier nurse theorists, including Orlando (1961), Benner, Henderson, Nightingale, Watson (1979), and Henderson and Paterson. Other non-nursing influences on Kolcaba's work included Murray (1938). The theory was developed using induction (from practice and experience), deduction (through logic), and from retroaction concepts (concepts from other theories). The basis of Kolcaba's theory is a taxonomic...

...Internet Texas Hold'em Winning Strategies from an Internet Pro First Edition By Matthew Hilger Introduction “If you can't spot the sucker in your first half-hour at the table, then you are the sucker.” This is a common poker saying spoken by Matt Damon in the classic poker movie Rounders. I used to play in a tournament every Sunday night in Costa Rica with some of the best players in the world. Unfortunately, I had no idea at the time who those players were. Hopefully this book will help you spot the sucker rather than be the sucker. It takes a lot of experience and study of the game before one realizes what it takes to play at an advanced level. Everyone needs to start somewhere. This book should increase your learning curve, but there is no substitute for experience. The Internet is an excellent vehicle to develop your game, no matter if you just play low limits a few hours a week or strive to develop into a world-class player. The following story gives you a glimpse into my poker life and the struggles I went through before I started playing on the Internet. My first memory of poker is sneaking out into the woods when I was about eight or nine years old to play penny poker with my friends. In middle school, I remember getting sent to the principal's office for playing craps in the bathroom. In high school, I was assistant manager at a local movie theater and one night my friends and I played poker in the projectionist booth while the movies were playing. To my...

Even though many “Black People” do live in the ghettos, it is unjust to tie them with most crimes such as gang wars, drive by shootings and thefts. The media contributes to 90 percent of these stereotypes (Geek). Like in the inner city African Americans are criticized for their actions, while the Latin Americans are blamed for most drug Page 2 deals. Derogatory terms such as nigger and spic are all part of the racial profiling debacle (Harris). Racial profiling has made its stamp in communities. On one side we have the bad where we tend to classify certain individuals into stereotypical groups. But on the other hand...
