Reaction to Cohen's "Adventures In Flatland"

I'm posting this as a "note" to make it easier for people to "share" my reaction, in case anyone wants to. This is my reaction to Dave Cohen's article "Adventures In Flatland," or maybe it's "Adventures In Flatland, part I." It's a long, interesting, impressive article at

I would summarize it this way: Most of humanity is currently engaged in destroying the ecosystem, and most of humanity is in denial about this. And if that continues, we're all going to die. And a small number of us are resisting, trying to awaken the deniers, in whatever way we can. Cohen tries to analyze the denial, through psychology and philosophy, in hope of curing it. Abbot in 1884. It's a novel about 2-dimensional creatures who are visited by a 3-dimensional creature, and it contrasts what life is like for them. Aside from entertainment, one purpose of the novel was to get people to think about what a 4th dimension might be like. The 2-dimensional creatures lived in a 2-dimensional portion of a 3-dimensional space, and they could be affected by things outside their 2-dimensional portion, but they could not see anything beyond their 2-dimensional portion. In a similar fashion, Cohen suggests that we are affected by but cannot see the unconscious or subconscious parts of our minds. Cohen was concerned about the fact that this makes it difficult for us to see the sources of our own denials.

And now my own reactions. I have to admit that I don't know psychology or epistemology very well, and so I don't know what are the chances that Cohen and his colleagues will succeed in curing denial through psychology or philosophy. I wish them good luck with that. My own reaction to the denial is a little bit
