Ambivalent Sexism and Dumb Blonde Jokes

Diversity can be defined as individuals interacting with different races, nationalities, religions and gender to create a group, organization or community. A diverse organization is an organization that values the variance in people. It identifies that people with different attitudes, backgrounds, experiences, and skills bring in new ideas and opinions. Diverse organization also promotes and join these differences to make everything related and welcoming. These types of organizations have the widest range of views and skills so it can help the need of change for the people who are involved. Diversity encourages and benefits society.
In the study of Greenwood and Isbell had three goals that they wanted to complete in their study. The first goal, they wanted to explore a certain sexist joke which are the dumb blonde jokes. These type of jokes are unpleasant to women and extremely known and accepted “form of disparaging humor” (Greenwood et al., 2002). They wanted to know how the reactions of women to these jokes would find out the degree of sexist attitudes. There next goal was to determine the line of sexist humor and ambivalent sexism. The dumb blond jokes may show a result to conflicted heterosexual ambivalence so, hostile and ambivalent sexist might react different to these types of jokes. Hostile sexist may like the jokes more than benevolent sexists and with ambivalent sexist may more may not like the dumb blonde jokes that are said. These types of sexist determine if they would like the dumb blonde jokes but their views on women. The last goal was to clarify any conflicting reports on the relativeness of benevolent sexism, gender and sexist humor appreciation.
