Amidst numerous problems, time management is the most crucial problem I face in my day-to-day life. Time management is the range of skills, tools, and techniques used to manage time when accomplishing specific tasks, projects, and goals. From waking up in the morning, to falling asleep at night, managing time efficiently has been a nightmare to render. Possessing excess time to perform a task and not using it wisely is my nemesis because I always find myself unprepared and complete the task at the last minute. Some examples of not using time management effectively in my daily life are: arriving to work late, not preparing what to wear to work the night before, overextending my lunch break, and turning in homework late. Knowing how to prepare and plan ahead of time for any event will help overcome this problem. Finding a solution requires strategic planning using either a daily planner or an organizer found in most smart phones these days. Electronic organizers have more of an advantage because they can sort, organize and store more information than paper and pencil planners. However, if technology is not user-friendly, the idea of pen and paper will always remain available to use. Identifying the order of daily events and when they should take place is critical in managing time efficiently. For example, setting an alarm clock at five o’clock in the morning is a daily routine that is the first step toward the rest of the day. However, more important is setting the alarm at a time that leaves the window open with plenty of time for the next task, which is essential with time management. Prioritizing activities daily would be the starting point for setting goals or simply finishing tasks. Creating a To-Do list will plan the order of accomplishing tasks.
