Process of becoming an appraiser in Oklahoma State
As per United States Federal Law, real estate appraisers is a state-statute subject; the process of obtaining a license for appraising of land is therefore state controlled and may differ from state to state. A person need not be a degree holder to become a real estate appraiser but generally, most appraisers are graduates.
First of all, an aspiring appraiser is required to take a trainee appraiser course in a state approved institute. The syllabus consists of a seventy to eighty hours of classroom study covering appraisal basics and also a course in the National Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).The next step is to gain professional work experience as a trainee under an experienced appraiser. It is advisable to keep a log book of the hours worked and the land appraised in an orderly manner counter signed by the licensed appraiser. This is because two thousand hours of minimum work experience is required and the log book service is a weighty proof of this. This two thousand hours of service has to be finished within one year of apprentice training under the licensed appraiser.
Another seventy to eighty hour classroom course, this time conducted by the REAB directly( Real Estate Appraisal Board) directly is now required to be carried out. With the help of this experience and after partaking of the REAB conducted course, the candidate is now free to sit for the state licensing examination. This is the final hurdle and it may be noted that this is not easy, as you require a minimum of 75 % score to pass. Once the candidate passes the licensing exam, he or she has become a licensed appraiser for the state of Oklahoma.
Licenses
The Real Estate Appraisal Board (REAB) of Oklahoma, the office of which is located in Oklahoma city, issues the licenses.
