...focus on running, ruck marching, and buddy carry type exercises. Some objectives I would create would be ability group runs that increase by time and speed weekly. Ruck marches at distances starting at 3 miles with a 30 lb ruck to 12 miles with a 60lb ruck. Buddies carry drills that consist of fireman carries, log drills and litter runs. While this is being conducted I will monitor each soldier and identify specific problems that need to be worked on and adjust the training schedule accordingly. As far as the soldiers that are overweight they would conduct physical training with the platoon as well as take part in special population PT the same day. This would be emplaced to help push those soldiers to get within standards in accordance with AR600-9 that much faster. The overweight soldiers need a special separate plan to get where they need to be, but taking away from physical training that is imperative to the mission is a problem. That is why we would initiate a special population program at a different time. If I was a squad leader that inherits a squad that has overweight issues, I will first schedule an appointment for my squad to see a dietician. Once I have all the results and recommendations from the doctor, I will come up with the best course of action for my squad to make them lean mean fighting machines. I will monitor their diets and come up with a strenuous physical training plan that will prepare them for the harsh terrains in Afghanistan. I will assess...

...Running head: ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR 1 Organizational Behavior in the Work Environment Sanaya Cross MT-302 Organizational Behavior Unit 9 Final Project ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR 2 Organizational behavior is the study of what people do in an organization and how their behavior affects the organization’s performance (Robbins, & Judge, 2013). According to Robbins and Judge, (2003) these behaviors include topics of motivation, leader behavior and power, interpersonal communication, group structure and processes, learning, attitude development and perception, change processes, conflict, work design, and work stress. The U.S. Army is the only organization that I have been exposed to since I started working as an 18 year old and I’ve seen many different forms of organizational behavior throughout these 15 years. When I first entered the military in 1997, the Army was extremely strict and structured. It’s still a bureaucracy and structured type of organization but back then it seemed to be extremely structured and strict. At least I perceived it to be that way as an 18 year old coming straight from home. As privates we stood at attention or parade rest for anyone that was higher ranking than us and had to do everything we were told to do without question. This was something that I was not used to and really thought...

...Leadership Skills of General Carter Ham Leadership is the process of developing ideas and a vision, living by values that support those ideas and that vision, influencing others to embrace them in their own behavior, and making hard decisions about human and other resources. A leader is a person who exhibits the key attributes of leadership - ideas, vision, values, influencing others, and making tough decisions (Hellriegel & Slocum, 2010). Management is the act or skill of controlling and making decisions about a business, department, sports team, etc. (Merriam-Webster, 2014). Many people confuse leadership with management and although they are usual inner twined they are not the same. Management is only the act of decision making, however leadership is a way of life. It requires one to understand, embrace, evaluate and work to improve upon though out one’s entire lifetime. It is a multifaceted, complex and constantly evolving vision that requires one to be competent in many different areas. As stated by Hellriegel and Slocum (2010) a competency is an interrelated cluster of knowledge, skills, and abilities needed by an individual, team, or organization for effective performance. Most competencies are learned behaviors that can positively or negatively affect a single person or an entire company. There are seven competencies that are found to be the most crucial for a person or company to be endowed with in order to obtain leadership success. The seven...
