A New Curriculum The Natick High School curriculum has been the same for decades, but what would students think if the entire system were to be changed for the better? There are three key components that need to be changed in Natick Public School systems in order for the utmost success. Therefore, it is essential that class time is altered into a more project-based learning environment in order for it to be more cohesive. Subsequently this type of mentality is something that has haunted the halls of high school since the beginning of time. There are many factors that play into why standardized testing must be banned from our schools. The most effective reason being that tests such as MCAS can be very discriminatory. Students with learning disabilities such as ADHD are not given any chance when facing such monstrous tests. On October 11th, 2012, Professor Rooks from cornell university tells readers of time magazine that “...it may simply be time for us to stop relying so heavily on standardized tests to begin with” (Rooks 1). Rooks tells her readers in this Time article the reasons why testing like MCAS has always been a bad idea. She writes about the many different aspects of a culturally diverse society that standardized tests hurt. In order to help students get ahead in life under any aspect, they need to be educated. The how question is the most prevalent within this context. In order for students to excel, they must be provided with a plan that most certainly caters to their needs as a human being, not just another statistic.
