Michael along other soldiers had arrived days prior to the beginning of the medic training. They all waited patiently for the bus to bring and would complete the new class that would train as medic field soldiers. At approximately 4:30 pm the new recruits has arrived with their faces full of panic, listening to the stern voices of those who directed them, they were all tuned in to follow the precise instructions without any error. Each of them from every corner of the country had left nine dreadful weeks of their lives in basic training and now began the crucial phase of militarism ahead. All the new recruits wore the same uniform and carried a portfolio with military order documents in it. Each soldier carried it to the right side graciously carried except for a soldier who carried his/her documents on the left side. All of the new recruits marched in a serious manner with very little expression on their faces. Together they passed in front of Michael and the others and Michael could not take his eyes off the young woman who carried the portfolio to the left side. When dinner was over, Michael seized the moment to walk hastily to approach and speak to her. Her military uniform spelled out her name “Villanueva” and Michael asked where she was from, she did not answer nor turned to look up at him, leaving him at a standpoint. He continued besieging her with questions as the weeks moved forward in training, finally Villanueva reluctantly gave in and Michael achieved his goal to finally know where she was coming from.
