Awr's Argument Against Gun Control

On February 14th, 2018, a former student at a high school in Parkland Florida made use of a semi-automatic rifle (AR-15) to kill 17 students before law enforcement was able to subdue him. As a result of the shooting many students and adults from across the country are fighting to take a stand against the ability to own firearms such as a semi-auto and automatic rifle. Some like the NRA are trying to defend the ownership of guns and blame the shooting on our faulty background checks and mental health psychoanalysis but other believe it would be best to prevent gun violence by raising the age to buy guns to 21 or to just take guns away for good. Shear of the New York Times and “Trump Wants Joe Manchin’s Gun Control, Rejects Steve Scalise’s National Reciprocity Push” by Awr Hawkins from Breitbart both share a similar view on the problem of gun control but Awr takes stabs and the mistakes of democrats. “...The very bill that was defeated in the Democrat-controlled Senate on April 17, 2013”. Here Awr states that the event that was the Sandy Hook shooting could have been prevented if it weren't for the government not passing the manchin/Toomey Gun Control Bill. The Breitbart author, Awr Hawkins, is a second amendment columnist and takes slight offense to the idea od the gun control now when violence could have been prevented in the past. The author of the New York Time article however has good support over Trump’s decision embrace gun control. The author states quotes from Trump highlighting the gun prevention precautions, even stating Trump's decision to ban assault weapons completely. “He even suggested a conversation on an assault weapons ban”. The author then states that there was a gun control bill to be passed in 2013 after the Sandy Hook shooting that was shot down by the republicans, thus showing anti-gun control beliefs coming from the side of the
