Social networks have replaced “one on one” communication with individual. Social networks such as Facebook, Myspace, and twitter were created for the sole purpose of helping individuals communicate Do you have any documentation here? Some quote from Mark Zuckerberg, perhaps? The social network model of communication has shifted the whole paradigm of what “communication” actually is, and deserves serious attention. There are many other reasons that these sites are used (such as?), but communication is still their first priority. It seems to me that if you make this claim, you have to support it with a social media-based definition of “communication.” Many people use these networks to talk to their friends in other cities, states, or even other countries (Facebook). This is one of many situations people do not communicate ; this is why social networking is preferable by many. These networks not only allow communication between friends, but allow subscribers to meet new people. If you ask around how people think social networking affects them, many will say that they “Have an expanded circle of social connections, and stay in touch more” (Rosenwald). These networks are becoming the modern way to make friends. Yes! Now you need to redefine (by social network standards) the ides of “friend.” These new friends communicate through these networks. It’s no surprise that those who are shy will take refuge behind their computers in order to gain confidence in the lack of face to face communication . However, can people have the confidence to talk with someone if they’re too busy communicating with people online? Because of Social media people are getting lazy and forgetting that there is another world outside of a computer to network and meet people the old fashioned way.
Many people are waking up depending on their smartphones, IPads and Televisions to start their

...of Form syahid     Apr 9, 2010, 10:03am   #1 Even though globalization affects world's economies in a positive ways, its negative side should not be forgotten. Discuss. Globalization has contributed a lot to the world today. It boosts countries economies, advance technologies and improve daily life of the people. But in the meantime whether it is a blessing or a curse has sparked much debate. This is because the benefit of globalization always come with the drawbacks. For me, the advantages of the globalization are outweigh its disadvantages. Convincing argument can be made that globalization has led to advancement in technologies. This advancement has built the new world without boundaries. So, the communication can be made with any other parts of the world through technologies such as internet and telephone. Hence, ideas exchange can be done among intellectuals, journalists, scientists or ordinary people. As a result, the best ideas will be spread all over the world which led to enhance the world achievements. However, there are some disadvantages of the globalization. The absence of boundaries of the world through technologies could create harmful to the people. To illustrate, the access to the bad website in internet such as drugs and pornography could affect people minds. For example, recently, an actor was caught for being involved in drugs processing. He admitted that have learnt the process via internet. So, no boundaries of the world also affect people to change...

...Technology can be bad: jobs, money, and malfunctions. Technology is not a good idea when one talks about jobs because that would mean more people getting fired. Therefore, the economy of the country would plunge down and become a second or third world country. Also, it would be expensive. It would be expensive because the amount of wires, heart-drives, mother-boards, etc….would cost more than ten people’s pay checks. One other bad thing about technology is that it can malfunction at anytime, which is bad because that means the consumer’s would be extremely upset for not getting their products. For example, a robot is packing a box. All of a sudden, the robot stops or starts throwing it. Then, the people who run the factory will be in big trouble, but also, embarrassed because their customer will not get what they ordered. Another example would be when one sends an e-mail. In one situation, he or she might accidentally send an e-mail to the wrong person, which can lead to good and bad things. For example, in my school, everyone is allowed to send e-mails to the whole school. One day, someone transmits an e-mail talking about buying the school t-shirt. Then, someone e-mails back, and he or she says, “I would like one medium.” The effect of that would be people sending e-mails back to everyone saying, “Stop!” It’s bad because it clogs everyone’s e-mail. Those are some ways technology can be bad. In my opinion, technology can be both good and bad because it will always get better...

Effects of Gadgets to the Academic Performance Among Students of Tupi National High School

...The gadgets are very useful, they help us connect to each other, they make us learn new things and discover new things. The reason why computer technologies are invented is to help make people’s life easier and to improve their way of life, especially the students. Modern computer technologies make studying easier and fun to the students. As long as students don’t become fanatics when it comes to gadgets, we don’t think that they could have a bad influence or a bad effect on students. The gadgets make our life better in many ways. Let’s take for example the cell phone, many of you are “lost” without it and when it comes to students this device is more than just a cell phone, is a chat opportunity, an Internet connection, a camera and more. Because mobile phones have today a lot of features and they are not just devices made for communication between people. A negative effect of these gadgets on students can be the fact that they can become obsessive and the students can neglect everything else, like their social life, their family and friends. Is not a bad thing to have a computer, but is a bad thing to spend all your life in front of it pretending that everything else doesn’t exist. Otherwise, most gadgets have positive effects because they enable us to do things faster and easier and they are also good when it comes to learning new things and, let’s face it, they make our life a lot easier. There is some list of the essential gadgets for students we have: A laptop with...

...Chapter I INTRODUCTION Background of the Computer Games The computer game requires technology capable of handling large amounts of data and of representing this data. The relationship between a technological phenomenon such as the computer and the less formally based culture is not a simple one: some theories will claim that technology determines culture; some will claim that culture determines technology. It may be most reasonable to see this as a history of mutual influences, where technology can inspire (or enable) cultural developments and cultural developments can inspire new technology. To quote an obvious example, the computer game was originally developed on equipment designed for military and academic purposes. But today the computer game is the driving force in the development of much hardware such as 3d graphics accelerators. Space war! The first computer game. (1962) Chapter I – Introduction a. Effective Communication Paper

...authority to form and adjust beliefs, humanity and the lives of people. Considering on the role communication plays, it will be able to give a good or bad effect in a healthcare organization. The four main points that will be discussed in this paper are: examples of most effective and ineffective ways for sharing information, four different ways communication is used in healthcare, techniques that can be applied in a healthcare work environment and the way technology impacts communication. Confusion, frustration and low morale can lead to ineffective communication. Communication is used to notify, improve, share passions and teach (Ehow.com 2012). When communication is not clear, it becomes ineffective and it can offend, complicate and mislead the listeners. For example, in politics if a politician does not explain themselves clearly, they allow room for misinterpretation (Ehow.com 2012). On the other hand, admiration, education, liberation and understanding are the results of effective communication. Effective communication offers people information that is needed to help make people develop education and enlighten. One example of communication that is both effective and ineffective is a lie. If anyone tells a lie and persuade people it is true (effectively), the response and the choices carried out on a lie can affect many people (bad effect) (Ehow.com 2012). The key to misunderstanding information about effective communication, is just saying what a person really feels. Things that...

...Is Globalization bad or good? We are stepping into a whole new time of globalization in many aspects. Countries and countries are associated with each other, from cultures, economy, and policy, etc. A big melting pot of different cultures is right on the stove, it is actually exposing many effects to various aspects and areas. Under the new social background with mixed cultures, things always have two opposite ways, good or bad. Some arguments point out that globalization could be the cause of some serious problems like war, terrorism, and immoral business activities. Countries lose their unique identities and less country power as a whole party. However, other evidences prove that without globalization, the world would never change. The result is actually pushing the whole world forward for further development, gathering all creation and benefits together, and is even beneficial for emphasizing countries own identities from many others. Globalization is the process of migration; capital flows, spreading of cultures, technology and food spreading throughout the world. It is happening everyday, everywhere in the world. I, as an international student comes from China and attending my university in United Stated, I bring the money to US, come with my own Chinese culture background and personal identities, my language, and living styles as an Asian. I think I have finally fallen into a part of cultural globalization, exchanging or sharing my culture with American friends, I benefits...

Technology

...debated whether technology is good or bad. Many people believe that technology can only cause harm to their lives and to the society, while many others strongly defend the technologies which have made their lives much more leisurely and enriching than it could have been with the absence of technology. In my opinion, both of these views are correct to an extent, but I also believe that what should be examined is not whether technology in its self is good or bad, but rather how we decide use it. Household appliances have greatly evolved in the last century. Refrigerators, gas and electric ovens, microwaves, vacuums, dishwashers....the list goes on and on. All these things have made housework much easier than it would have been about 100 years ago. This results with both positive and negative effects. It has given us easier ways to get jobs done, leaving more time for other things, but the bad part of this is what is chosen to do in this extra time. In many cases, this extra time is spent doing leisurely things, which might make us happier, but also has an effect on our health. Lately we have become aware of the dangers of heart disease and the health benefits of exercise. We would have gotten most of this necessary exercise 100 years ago just from doing our daily chores but now aren t getting enough because we don t have to work as hard to do those same chores. This can be blamed on technology, but again, in fact it is our own fault because we chose to use the technology and spend the...
