It distracts us all the time, in the classroom, on the road and during everyday life interactions. Although it is hard to argue that the advancements of technology can be bad there is proof that it has distracted people from the simple things in life that are necessities to focus on. In todays society text messaging is the most common way of getting in touch with people, however cellphones are becoming a major distraction. Texting has become so severe that people would rather sit on their phones and talk to certain people then talk to the actual people they are with. Everyday I notice a peer texting during class, they become glued to their phone and are not aware of the conversation happening around them. All over Plymouth and all other college campuses students are constantly distracted by texting in the class room. As texting becomes more common so does texting and driving, which “caused around 1.3 million crashes in 2011”(text statistics). and has significantly increased since then. It should be common courtesy to keep your phone away while driving to protect others, however millions of people are doing it every day because they are addicted. The constant use of cellphones in todays society continues to increase and with that phones have taken over the classroom and the road.
