Now that Bayfest has been around for 20 years, some things should be changed to recognize the 20th year. Bringing in better ideas, and advertising them, could increase the total number of people that come to this event. Comparing what Bayfest has to offer to other music festivals will help with new ideas. The following paragraph will include ideas and concepts to highlight the 20th year to increase attendance. Giveaways are a main reason people show up to events. Who doesn’t like free stuff? Giving away things such as 5 free beers, meals, and larger prizes such as a yeti cooler could make for a more exciting atmosphere. For a standard ticket holder, give away small prizes. People that buy more expensive tickets, give away the larger prizes. Also, giving away things could be a tax write off, and potentially get a portion of your money back. Since Bayfest is in the middle of a college town, offering a percentage off for all college students is a great way to increase attendance. College students often times live on a budget and cannot afford a $60.00 or more ticket. By offering a 10% or 15% off ticket would greatly increase the overall attendance to the festival. Students could get together, with their discounted tickets, and go as a group to the festival. With discounting the tickets, promoting this would have to be done around the campus. Placing flyers in places such as Sorority houses and Fraternity house would be a great start. Also, some campuses have T.V.’s for advertising. Placing an ad on the T.V.’s could reach a wide number of students. Social Media is a big part of younger people’s lives today. Keeping Instagram, Twitter and Facebook up to date could be very crucial to the marketing department. A way to get more people interested in the Instagram page is to do a sharing contest. For example, have a certain picture for the followers to share. At the end of the contest, however many people share it, choose 5 to get a free ticket to Bayfest. The same Bayfest logo has been around for 20 years now. A way to spruce things up is to change the logo. Keeping parts of the logo is important. For example maybe keep the light house or even the music note, just so that people will still recognize that this is Bayfest Music Festival. One thing that makes Bayfest an uncomfortable even is the seating arrangements. People who come and stay all day will be very uncomfortable with nowhere to sit, unless they bring their own chair. Having some place to sit for a couple hours gives people a break. Even in October it is fairly warm, maybe setting out a fan that blows cold water out around a potential seating rea would make for a better experience.
