In the movie Life is Beautiful, director Roberto Benigni shows the quality of bravery through the experiences of the main characters as they attempt to survive a concentration camp during World War II. When Guido Orefice, an Italian Jew, arrives in Arezzo, he meets Dora, who comes from a wealthy Italian family. Even though she is engaged, she falls in love with Guido, and they marry and have a son, Giosue. At Giosue’s fifth birthday, Guido and Giosue are taken by Nazis to a concentration camp, and Dora insists on voluntarily going with them. At the camp, Guido convinces Giosue that everything is just a game, and he will earn points towards winning a tank. Unfortunately, when Guido goes looking for Dora, he is caught and shot to death by a Nazi soldier, but Giosue and Dora survive. ...Eggerts’s pieces have the ability to pull me in, but this one in particular hits near and dear to home for me. This piece just absolutely captivates me. Virginia has been drawing and painting since she was just a child. She studied and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Art from the University of Montana in Missoula where after she took a teaching position and continued to paint in Eskimo and Aleut villages in Alaska. It was in Alaska that she took a watercolor workshop from the internationally known artist, teacher, and author Zoltan Szabo. Virginia went on to earn a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She has works in private, public and corporate collections worldwide. Virginia has also won juried awards in visual art and in video production. There have been quite a few who leave with the intent of working in Hawaii and building a beautiful home and having a family. There were many stories at the time of how well Korean mother's sons were doing in Hawaii, many pictures of homes, properties, beautiful beaches, gardens and animals. Additionally, a monthly check is sent from the sons to support their families back home in Korea. Many hundreds of young men have left Korea to work in the sugar cane fields in Hawaii. Families never know of the hardship their son's suffer, as the son's would never say; it would do no good to have their families worried or afraid for them. So they put on a happy face for all of the pictures, and sent as much money as they can without starving. Mothers of daughters saw these things and wanted their daughters to marry these successful men and live the beautiful life they saw in pictures. Despite his apparent condition a beautiful woman falls in love and marries John Nash because she can see him for who he really is. His wife sees his brilliant mind through the odd propensities. As John Nash’s schizophrenia is discovered she is the first to understand and tries to help him out. To me this teaches all of us a great moral lesson that we could all learn from. Nash’s wife loved him for who he is regardless of what he was going through.[JH2] [JH3] John Nash thinks the Russians are after him due to a project he worked on with the American Government. From the pragmatics of it, knowing that, in a footballing context, a brace is neither a device fitted to something to provide support or a pair of straps that pass over the shoulders and fasten to the top of trousers at the front and back to hold them up, to knowing the names of all the high potential, young gems that you've ever found on all the popular football management games you've ever played, football is a very broad and hard language to learn. One of the staples of the football language is the cliché. A phrase that is do overused that it loses its original impact, they're are hundreds of these phrases that are usually peppered in the post match interviews of players and managers and the commentaries of former players as former managers. A big question of those who are not fluent in the language of football is "what do all these clichés mean?" and "why are they used so often?" Some clichés are blatantly obvious, for example "A game of two halves" describes the structure of a football match perfectly, it has two sections of 45 minutes each (both sections are equal therefore they are "halves"). The cliché isn't meant to be a description of the structure of a game though, because a match can really have two juxtaposing halves, therefore a usage for the cliché. This guides the reader to view the idea of a love that is drawn out as boring and undesirable. This is emphasised towards the end of the poem when the voice describes the love that he wishes for with similes like ‘instant fire.’ This creates a contrast to the idea of a ‘vegetable love’ and makes the voice’s idea of a love sound much more favourable.
