Mission Statement
The mission statement: "Behailu Academy empowers youth to find and use their voices through the arts, academic support, and community service." (behailuacademy.org). This statement unifies "the purpose and ultimate result that the cultural hopes to achieve" (Boyle-Clapp and Brown 2016, 130). Behailu's programs are represented in the mission statement and includes a general target audience. The scheduled sessions on their website, www.behailuacademy.org, show that the students have the three components of the statement available for their participation: art classes, tutoring, and community involvement. Since the academy focuses on the youth, a specific age range would provide clarity on who qualifies for the program.
