...Professor Lobaina Bible 105 – B02 9/7/15 Biblical Worldview Essay Worldviews are a very important part of society. They define what we believe and act as a filter for the way that we see the world. As Christians our worldview has always and will always be criticized, but it is important that we define our worldview so when it is questioned we can stand up and speak what we believe. I believe that our worldview is defined by four major categories that are as follows: the natural world, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. As Christians our worldview starts with Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” This verse is the basis for what we believe about the natural world. In continuing reading our worldview of the natural world grows in seeing that God created the earth and everything in it in seven days. When you tear down the basis of the natural world we see many different worldviews amongst people and scientist. Scientists have the Theory of Evolution and the Big Bang Theory and we as Christians have the Theory of Creation. These theories are all worldviews of different faiths and religions. Our faith is the main basis of our worldview without it we lose sight of who we are and our identity in Christ. In looking further our worldview of the natural world gets deeper as we see differences in things such as intelligent design. Overall the biblical worldview of the natural world is this: God created everything we know and...

...Biblical World View I just turned 44 years old a few days back and as I think back to my earliest memory, I believe I established my Biblical Worldview early on in my life. Studying the bible and taking new courses on Christianity help solidify my core beliefs. Genesis 1-11 sets the base for biblical truth for the teaching of the natural word, human identity, human relationships, and civilization. I have came to the conclusion years ago that Christians know how they are supposed to view the world. However, the Christian communities and the family unit have failed at helping each other live as Christians should live. When non-Christians see Christian they general can’t tell the difference. We Christians have the worst habit of kicking another Christian when he or she fails. We gossip just like non-believers do. We yell when we are not being treated in a Christ-like manner, but see no issues when our tongue persecutes another. Human nature is such a complicated thing to understand why we do what we do. I believe we have truly lost site on what we believe and how to live it. Don’t think for a minute that I’m excluding myself. Oh, how I wish I had lived better and pray that I try to do better as I move forward with life. All I know to do is pray and ask for forgiveness. During my childhood, it was always presented that God created the natural world in six literal days. In II Peter 3:8 NIV which reads, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends, With the Lord a day is...

...Secular Humanism Vs Biblical/Christian Worldview Richard Puller Liberty University Secular humanism is defined as a theory of ethics and human fulfillment devoid of spirituality, the supernatural, or God. Man becomes the measure of all things, (Secular Humanism and Evolution by Caleb Colley, PH.D). Tom Flynn executive director of the Council for Secular Humanism and editor of Free Inquiry magazine defined Secular humanism as a comprehensive nonreligious life stance that incorporates a naturalistic philosophy, a cosmic outlook rooted in science, and a consequentialist ethical system. Secular Humanistic beliefs regarding origin, identity, meaning/purpose, morality and destiny are as follows. The Secular Humanist believes in the Evolutionary Theory. They believe that the universe already existed, that man is a part of nature and that he has emerged as a result of a continuous process. Secular Humanist believes man is a result of naturally occurring chemical reactions that have occurred through the evolutionary process and that we have no particular purpose. Secular Humanist see mankind’s existence again as a result of the evolutionary process, mankind is just matter and has no more importance than any other living thing. Secular Humanism utilizes the Ethical relativism theory, where morality is relative to the norms of one's culture. Whether an action is right or wrong depends on the moral norms of the society in which it is practiced. Secular Humanist believes that...

...Biblical World View Essay Introduction In the following essay on Biblical World View of, Business Administration, with the foundational Christian belief that man was created in the image of God. There will be two examples in this essay that will explain this view. In the first example, I will be going over leadership and how important it is as a Christian to remember your foundational belief that we are created in the image of God. The second example, I will be discussing the importance of honesty for Christians, since we are created in the image of God. “Immediately following each day of creation God saw that it was good, but after the creation of man, God saw that it was very good”. (Online excerpt, Original Creation of man in the image of god, 2013)Being created in the image of God does not just refer to physical appearance; it also refers to the total essence of God. Example 1 In this example, I will be going over leadership and the Christian foundation that we were created in the image of God. From the very beginning of our creation as humans, we were give leadership over all his creation. With leadership, in any aspect, you will possess tremendous responsibility, and power over others, and their lives. King David stated in Psalm 139 “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-How well we know it.” (Etzel and Gutierrez, Praxis Beyond Theory, 2012, p 61) AS Christians, one knows, without a doubt, that...

...CHRISTINA M. SANFORD WORLD VIEW ESSAY L26463326 BIBL 104-D82-LUO MAY 5TH, 2014 INTRODUCTION: Opinions are everywhere, everyone has one. This essay will attempt to explain one opinion or worldview of Romans: 1-8. There is so much discussed in this book. Paul touched on so many different topics and made descriptive points on what we as Christians are supposed to do, how we are supposed to live and walk in our day to day life. This essay will break them down in several different categories; The Natural World, Human Identity, Human Relationships, and Culture. It will be one sided and the writers opinion only. THE NATURAL WORLD: God created this world in only a few short days. With a few words, He spoke everything we know into existence. We know this to be true through God’s Word. It is the inspired word of God, God breathed His Word into His chosen writers. The prophetic word that was told of in the Bible, is what helps us know that the Bible is truth. The natural world is sin for us. There are so many things that lure us to sin. Jesus is our way to forgiveness. The natural world is dangerous, and this is some of what Paul was trying to help people understand in his writings. Everyday we have a choice to take the right path or we can choose to take the wrong one. Either way we go, there are consequences to our decisions. If we choose the right path, then we have salvation and mercy. When we choose the wrong path we have eternal damnation...

...Biblical Worldview Essay Being created in God’s image means, in essence, that we were made to resemble or represent him. We were made to be creatures of patience, kindness, and forgiveness; all virtues explained in Christianity. Although these virtues are found in the Bible, they should also be common sense to most people. The phrase “treat others the way you want to be treated” shouldn’t be something that one hears once in their life. As an educator, one has the power to show and explain to children how to be a functioning member of society and how to treat others. Young children’s minds absorb information with great ease and the things they learn about how to treat others will follow most of them for the rest of their lives. The Bible has been called the “Word of God”. What that means is God’s message was sent from Him to prophets to be written down and kept as a journal for how He would want people to live and essentially represent him. Many of these values, such as patience, kindness or forgiveness are common sense but not everybody learns these things or do not understand them. As an educator we are given the chance to help children learn these values at a young age. Kindergarteners and first graders have a mind that absorbs information so efficiently that any information given to them will be remembered for years to come. As creatures made in God’s image these values need to be taught; a person is not born knowing these things right away. Educators are given the chance...

...Biblical Worldview Essay As an Accountant, I will not balance the books to display more revenue that the company does not possess, nor will I spend money from company funds for my personal needs and or pleasures because these are not the attributes of the image of God. “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:27). I need to represent His image in all that I do. “Mankind is created in order to represent God here on earth” (Etzel & Guterrez). Falsifying records and stealing are selfish ways one is to satisfy the needs of the company for whatever reason and the other is to satisfy me. “Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself” (Philippians 2:3). Doing right by God I will not balance the books to show more profits than losses by increasing my company’s revenue because this is falsifying their records. Their reasoning may be to gain favor with another company; this is not the favor a Christian should be assisting in. “He who earnestly seeks good finds favor, But trouble will come to him who seeks evil” (Proverbs 11:27). Not only can I be persecuted by law for doing this but I can be fired for not complying with my superiors. No matter what the reason is for the request is it still is an offense; not only to me, but to the Image of God. If I made the choice to do as requested out of fear, then I would have to...

This article shows the biblical worldviews in the modern world. Modern worldviews have their roots in the kingdoms of the darkness. These views have a high potential of totally destroying us. The social issue that we will discuss is abortion Coming up with a biblical worldview on abortion includes reading the Bible and talking with a pastor about the Christian stance on this matter. ...Mind 16 October 2015 Christian Biblical Worldview Essay In older to understand the concept of a biblical worldview, we have to understand the definition of worldview itself. A worldview as a commitment to a basic view about reality. In other words, one can say that worldview are of an importance in the world we live in and it is something that humans cannot live without. A worldview is a set of assumptions and commitments to an emotional, ethical, and spiritual orientation. This means that it something that has to be presented to the world as a new idea of the world should be run according to the people. The interesting part about it is that it is something that can be expressed as a story or a set of logical presuppositions about what we believe. This means that we have the abilities to portray the following ideal according to how well we are able to understand them. This is really important for us because we need understanding of why we have to follow a worldview in order to live it unto God’s will. (Piper) So what exactly is the main function of a worldview? Some philosophers think that it is a built-in grid that filters information and arguments and puts a particular twist on what we consider to be facts or how we interpret the thing we perceive. That is something that fall within the lines of comprehension and knowledge of the world around us. It is an essential concept that we need in order to survive under a fallen world. Which brings up a very good...

...My understanding of a worldview has changed dramatically; I originally did not know what a worldview was other than an opinion of each person regarding various aspects of their lives. I now understand what makes up a worldview and the questions that it answers. It is not simply just an opinion on controversial issues, but a way in which we view, interpret, and interact with the world around us. It is the very framework of who we are and believe that we are supposed to be. A worldview helps us to answer the many questions besides controversial issues, like the question of morality, what’s right and wrong in society and relationships. The answer on morality can be different depending on your worldview, it can justify some actions like same-sex...

...Crystal McClure Professor Duane Carmody Contemporary Worldviews APOL 104 8/2/2016 What is Worldview? Worldview seems to have different wording of the definition. For instance, the American Scientific Affiliation website, defines worldview as “a theory of the world, used for the living in the world.” (“What Is a Worldview?) On Focus On the Family website they define worldview as a framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world. (Tackett) According to Finding Your Worldview: Thinking Christianly about the World, they define worldview as, “the unifying perspective from which we organize our thinking about life, death, art, science, faith learning, work, money, values and morals. A worldview is our underlying philosophy of life.” (Gutierrez) What I take from both of those sources is the worldview is what your philosophy on life is. How you look at life, what defines your life and what you believe in. How would you deal with things on a daily basis? Worldview is dealing with making decisions in life. The Question of Origin can be answered in different ways. Naturalism is when the matter has always existed and with given enough time and chance, the end result is what is seen around today. Basically naturalists believe there is no existence of supernatural. Pantheism refers to viewing God and the universe as one. Theism is stating that everything existing, including human is because of God. Genesis 1:1 talks about God creating the heavens and the earth...

...understanding the true meaning behind the idea. Little did I know, I had already established my worldview. The textbook encyclopedia for this course defines a world view as such, “the framework of beliefs by which a person views the world around him”. As a Christian, when I see this definition, I think of a worldview as what I believe as a Christian and how I choose to define or live my life as a whole. The big questions, “How was the world created?” or “where do we all come from?” are common topics that many people have a specific worldview on. As a Christian, I use the bible as my filter and form my beliefs in this matter based on what scripture says. The very first words of the bible in Genesis 1:1 speak a truth that many scientists and people of the world cannot or simply refuse to comprehend. God create the heavens and the earth. It is such a simple phrase yet it says so much about God and his power. Genesis 2:7 instructs us that man was created from the dust of the earth. Proving we are not revolutionized monkeys, as many would have us believe. Closely tied to the origin of humanity is its identity. As a Christian I value myself as a human because I know I am special. This is so because I, along with all humanity, was created in God’s image, as it is said in Genesis 1:27. I also know my place in this world because of Genesis 1:27. I am not an animal, nor am I equal with them, because God has placed humanity over all living things so that humans would care for them...

...bible, theology and worldview. The bible is what informs us on how to do theology and one’s worldview. Reading scripture allows us to understand the will of God and perform theology. Performing theology is useless without the knowledge of scripture and hermeneutics. Many people express their own personal worldview, but they must know how to use the bible to sculpt their view of the world correctly though the eyes of a believer. The bible is perfect and without error; for one to do perfect theology one must use scripture and that will shape their worldview. All theological methods should start with the Word of God. According to 2 Timothy, all scripture is breathed out by God. Everything the bible says is through Him and one must not go against that. One must accept scripture as fully authoritative and that it is our source to understanding theology. Worldviews can have an effect on how one reads scripture and interprets it. People come from different cultures and church traditions that approach the Word of God differently. In order to perform this theology correctly it is important that one holds a high view of scripture. Through the study and reading of scripture, wisdom is gained. Martin Luther had three basic rules for studying theology. The first step is prayer, the second step is meditation, and the third step is suffering or experience. It is important that one prays to the Father; through prayer and meditation one progresses in their relationship with Him. Also, suffering...
