The side effects of insomnia are sleep deprivation and hallucination. Throughout the beginning and middle of the story, before the character and audience knew about his mental illness there were some signs. The first sign was the unknown man went to support groups for cancer every night to help him get sleep. This was when I started to think he had a disorder. The thing that surprised me was during every group night he would always pick a different name. Another sign was when he was giving Marla his card but without a name on it and she asked him who are you and brought out all his past names and then disappeared. When I first found out he was suffering from hallucination was when his condo blown up that evening and he was at the pay phone. The rules of pay phones are you can only call people, but no one can call you. When the unknown man made the call to Tyler, and he didn’t pick up then Tyler called him back that was when I noticed he was suffering from hallucination. At the end of the movie, I was able to diagnosis what he had. I diagnosed him with Dissociative Disorder and Schizophrenia. Like many works of art from the Renaissance, it has many scholars still arguing about what the painter was thinking when he painted this, in order to give some meaning to the figures and objects of the painting. The excerpts that were given to us helped to explain the painting from the perspective of two different scholars, who used various sources to help decipher the painting. Both were very interesting interpretations, however I found Zollner’s argument, as opposed to Zirpolo’s, to be more convincing based on his attention to every character in the painting. In the first excerpt, taken from Frank Zollner’s Botticelli: Images of Love and Spring, he takes each character from the Primavera and gives them a background and a story, based on sources from different text fragments.
