Boogla-Boogla Halloween is a time of year when monsters, ghouls, and goblins roam the streets at night. In actuality, they’re usually just children or young adults dressed up to get Halloween candy in the scariest costumes they can imagine. Some dress as monsters their parents may have told them about during a bedtime story, while others dress as the most popular villain in the movies. Many people dress up as ghosts for Halloween because they either believe in ghosts, or they imagine it would scare everyone else. One might ask themselves, “What would I do if one of these fictitious creatures came to life?” or “What if a creature that I’ve never even heard of before just magically appeared?” Well, let me tell you the story about one of the scariest monsters you will ever hear of--the story of Boogla-Boogla! Boogla-Boogla was formed, not by being born or having been murdered and coming back as a ghost, but by campfire stories. Parents would take their children and their children’s friends camping, and as nightfall began to fall, they would light a fire at camp and tell the scariest stories they could think of while roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. Those late-night stories actually formed a monster in early autumn of 1985. It didn’t really have a name until a parent, who was hiding waiting to scare one of his children, uttered out the name, “Boogla-Boogla!” Boogla-Boogla was first thought to be a ghost since he always hung around ghosts, but Boogla-Boogla’s powers were much stronger than any ghost’s powers. The more stories that were told around campfires, the stronger Boogla-Boogla became. Boogla-Boogla started to morph into different forms based on the descriptions of different ghosts and monsters. One minute, Boogla-Boogla might be a ghost, then the next, he could be a vampire. The scariest form he can take is all of those creatures combined into one. Imagine, if you will, the old Crypt Keeper, from the old Tales from the Crypt television shows that aired in the 1990s, on steroids with glowing eyes that changed colors and a constantly changing head shape. During much of the year, Boogla-Boogla only exists in the woods around popular camping sites, but during Halloween, Boogla-Boogla can virtually go anywhere! He could be a monster posing in a haunted house, or he could cloak himself and make himself invisible. Boogla-Boogla, in addition to having any powers described in scary campfire stories, also has the mind of a sponge. No, not meaning he has the IQ of Albert Einstein, but he literally has a sponge in his head, replacing a brain. He also has the ability to squeeze the imagination out of children’s minds, much like an alien. If a child is afraid of something and can’t sleep, Boogla-Boogla has the ability to take that thought and transform into it, also possessing any powers this scary thought may have. Children will no longer be so afraid of the monster in the closet. Rather, they will fear the thought of Boogla-Boogla being outside of their window, or hiding in a nearby tree! Boogla-Boogla’s powers are strongest in a scary-type setting, which is why he looks forward to Halloween every year. Halloween is when most children are most afraid, and it also gives Boogla-Boogla the opportunity to prey on the minds of imaginative children all over the world. So, the next time Halloween rolls around and you’re wondering why so many children are afraid, reflect on the story of Boogla-Boogla, and you just might understand why!
