In 1969, Full Cicada Moon tells the story of 12 year old Mimi Yoshiko Oliver, half African American, and half Japanese aspiring astronaut whose family from Berkeley, California to a Predominately white small town in Vermont. I connected to Mimi the main character I felt the same way she felt about her feeling an alien however, I felt different and ashamed because I was the only white person in a black school.
