- Use Fiedler model to reallocate manager's to each different rig
- Recognize each rig as self-managed team and use organization support system ~ Team-based performance measures ~ Manager to have authority and responsibility for drinking
- Adopt mandatory safety educational program for manager

Opening up the Rig # 22 is very significant issue for Brinkeroff in that it is trying to increase its profit while taking significant risk. Therefore, its initial plan of assigning Kurt as the manager came to be the problem for the company with the incident happened with Kurt, Rick and Rig # 20. There are few possibilities for solution:

- Using Fiedler's contingency model, we could possibly reassign the manager into different rig.
First of all, since besides the drinking problem in Rig 1-E, Rick seems to be quite capable of brining team members together and manage the team efficiency quite well, with his relationship-oriented trait and understand quite well of how rig should be managed. Also, the company recognized his ability and initially wanted to promote him before the incident, so he can be assigned to be the manager of the Rig # 22, which is very important business decision for the company. Second of all, Tom Rossick, the manager of Rig #20, who has some problem in coordinating the team members together and has trait of task-orientation, can be assigned to the Rig 1-E, which is managed by Rick and has high leader-member relation, high task structure and position power, since the Fiedler model tells that situational factors of high leader-member relation, high task structure and position power are efficient with the leader style of task-oriented trait. In addition, Rick's assistant seems to understand about managing rig and how it works well and has experience with working with Rick and other crews, Tom can get support and aid from him. For Rig #20, which has many problems, Kurt, who worked as manager for a long time and has task-oriented trait, can be assigned as the manager, since also according to the Fiedler model, poor leader-member relationships, task structure and position power is efficient with task-oriented leader.
- It seems that Rig is hard to control for the executive board, because of its physical distant, it already looked more like self-managed team. By adopting organization support system, such as using team-based performance measures, it seems like it is possible to get more productivity and efficiency. Also, instead of having safety supervisor, the company can bring outside safety consultant and performance measuring director, it can clearly bring out accountability. In addition, instead of emphasizing safety through supervisor, it will be more efficient to develop safety education program for manager's and make it mandatory to take and pass it to be the manager. In case of drinking problem, Rig 1-E seems that there were no other problems besides with Kurt and Rick, the company can change its policy or develop certain policy like manager can allow the crew members to drink certain amount of alcohol depending on the shift and for the purpose of bringing team esteem, but it is also the manager's responsibility to control the drinking and the accidents' caused by it.

It assumes that the external environment is dynamic and characterized by uncertain changes. In studying strategy, this course draws together and builds on all the ideas, concepts, and theories from your functional courses such as Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Organizational Behavior, and Statistics. However, it is much more than a mere integration of the functional specialties within a firm. 2. The course takes a general management perspective. It views the firm as a whole, and examines how policies in each functional area are integrated into an overall competitive strategy. We designed this course to develop...
