Bus 642 Business Research Assignment Two

...Ashford University Business Research Methods and Tools BUS 642 Professor Janice Johnson April 30, 2012 Assignment Two A Competitive Coup in the In-Flight Magazine A & B: What are the most prudent decisions she can make about her responsibilities to herself and others? What are the implications of those decisions even if there is no violation of law or regulation? The most important item to consider in this scenario is that of ethics. Ethics are defined as “norms or standards of behavior that guide moral choices about our behavior and our relationships with others” (Cooper & Schindler, 2011, p. 32). One of the goals of ethics in research are to make sure that no harm or consequences come from research activities (Cooper & Schindler, 2011). In this scenario, there are several harms and consequences that can occur from the usage of the found information. To begin, there is the problem foresaw by the manager. AutoCorp’s new ethical policy regarding competitor’s information may be pertinent to this information. If an employee in possession of such information is required to return the data or face dismissal, the consequence is not just for the manager (firing) but also for the company (having to replace said employee). This implies a monetary issue for both parties. The manager may rationalize this found information as existing in a gray area of policy, but the question would remain to the consequences of usage. When in question, it would be the wise decision...

Rub of Business Writing

...The Rubrics of Business Writing How to Improve Your Research Papers in All Courses How will you be evaluated on your business, accounting, and economics research papers?  Every draft of any research paper should meet the following normal expectations for college level papers: Style will be business like, and to the point.  Don't puff to meet artificial page count.  Instead, after you have the appropriate number of pages, edit 10-30% of text to make a streamlined marvel of business writing. Document the reduction if it is substantial, showing your teacher that you wrote a longer paper and then took time to edit it!  The more substantial, the better. Why edit?  Save paper; save ink; and save the reader's time The criterion for good style can be summarized in the following six commands to the writer:         Reduce word count. (E.g., The fact is, you don't need phrases like "the fact is".)         Make parallel lists of two or more ideas ("instant style", as Strunk and White wrote in Elements of Style).         Activate your writing, eliminating passive voice (except in committee reports or diplomatic writing).         Specify your thoughts, substituting precise wording for vague phrases and statements.         Illustrate your ideas, with examples, charts, statsitics, quotes of expert opinion, cases, and so on.         Organize your ideas in good paragraph and section structure.  (More on this follows...

Impact of Research on Customer Service Quality

...An exploratory study on the impact of research and development on customer service and quality   1.0 Introduction Research and development simply refers to the constant improvement of product and services and which enable the business to continuously thrive in terms of its operation. Research and development also leads to innovations intended for these products and services. In generating high impact innovations, it is important that the organization should devise a systematic method of identifying opportunities that provide new value for the consumers (Johnston and Bate, 2003). The changing consumer preference was an opportunity that is exploited through innovation (Paley, 2006).  As such, a company must be able to introduce new brand concepts, strengthen design capability and enrich product offering continuously. Improvement of quality is therefore critical in the aspect of innovation as this could highly impact customer satisfaction. Further, innovation also means to tolerate internal processes especially those that will contribute to the growth of the company (Johnson and Scholes, 2002). Customer service is one of these internal processes which purport external audience. We examine how certain professional and political characteristics of FASB members and SEC commissioners predict the accounting ‘‘reliability’’ and ‘‘relevance’’ of proposed standards. Notably, we find FASB members with backgrounds in financial services are more likely to propose standards that decrease ‘‘reliability’’ and increase ‘‘relevance,’’ partly due to their tendency to propose fair-value methods.
