The study of international business is fine if you are going to work in a large multinational enterprise, but it has no relevance for individuals who are going to work in a small firm. Evaluate the statement in 3000 word.

INTRODUCTION
Studying business international is good because it gives us an opportunity to know about other’s nation laws in order to import or to export products between two countries that have achieved their consensus to do business between them. International business includes all commercial transactions, either private or government sector, investments, sales, transport, and logistics that happen between two or more countries that are beyond their political boundaries. Generally, private company makes a deal with businesses from other countries to achieve target profits. And for government, the main reason they do this is because of their diplomatic relationship and also to gain profits. International business also can mean that it refers to all of the business transactions such as services, natural resources of the country, and goods or products. As for students, they will learn and practice on how to serve people in international markets. When they are entering working environment, they will find out that most of people that they need to serve is people that come from several races and countries. Students also studying about the culture of another country, their lifestyle, what they do in their daily business routines. The strategies on how to take the local product and then bring it to another country also included in international business studies. They need to think how their product will be accepted by local people in there that will maintain their demand and supply. Students who are studying on this course have a lot of advantages because they have very wide knowledge about international business that will help them get a job at a big and well-known company. Even they do not have any interest to work with other people, they can start their own business. When the business success, they can export their goods or service all over the world.
Jobs opportunities for students who studying international business courses are not necessarily going to work in offices and become the executive. They also have a chance to going work on oversea as an intermediary person between local merchants and traders in other countries. Students also have a chance to be one of the people that work in management department of organizations that active in international business and the institutions they work together as an exporter, manufacturer or consumer goods of global industries, financial service providers, travel and tour operators, trade promotion agencies.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF BIG FIRM
As a fresh graduate that studying international business who did not have much working experience, they have always been in a dilemma of working in a big company or a small company. Here are some of the pros and cons when working at big companies. Firstly, workers will get a wide networking. This because when working at a big company, their clients will come from several from people with different type of business. When they get to know you, they will become your friends. If workers and client become close, when there is a new project, the opportunity to get it is bigger. Other than that, working in big companies you will get a very specific work to do. For an example, if you are developer of websites, then your job only develops the website. Other work such as analyzing the data, planning the progress of the project, testing the website will be done by another person. Every person has their own works that are specifically just for them.
When working at big companies also, you can negotiate your salary with the highest amount as long as it is compatible with your jobs. Most of big companies can tolerate on money that they spend towards their workers. This because they are considerate the money that they spent towards the workers is a good investment. They believe that when employees satisfied and have a happy working, company is able to get double. When a company can meet wants and needs of employees, then the output is highly expected. Large company tends to provide a basic needs for their staff such as cafeteria, fitness center, child care center, and some company may be provided a flexible time for their staff. Sometimes, employers also would like to send their employees to attend some workshop to improve their skills, either hard skill or soft skill.
Working in large company gives staff more opportunities for growth and career advancement in a bigger company. If staff is doing well in their work, then the employers will have a greater chance for getting a promotion and salary. The management of the company also will recognize and appreciate more of their employees who strive to improve their productivity and increase profitability of the company. Big company is more likely to be stable and established. Its mean that your job and position is more secure, as the company have a less risk to go bankrupt or facing a difficult time that could endanger your job.
Other than that, your chances to travel other countries also high because large companies tend to send their workers to attend workshops or any seminars outside the area. Employers will see the performance of their employees and if they satisfied, those employees have a greater chance to be transferred to other countries. This should be an opportunity that cannot be missed because of working in a small firm will not be able to enjoy of these advantages. Workers can get more experience and friends in a new place with new environment. Sometimes when the company makes a profit the workers also get the benefit such as a bonus or the company make trip going to some special places and held a family day for all the staff.
If you are going to work on big firm, you get to work with a lot of smart people. Most of the expertise chooses big company to work because the bosses can be tolerated for salaries based on their experience and ability to do the work. If they can achieve top management requirements, they can demand for their wages. When you are working with an expertise, you should learn some knowledge from them even if it is not your field. This because no one will know what will happen in future. Maybe someday, you will be given tasks that is not related to your field. Or maybe when you are applying for higher position, either in the same company or different company, you also can apply for another job because you have knowledge about those area even though you are not an expertise.
When work in a big firm, you will get to learn the art of politic. It is not about how you can persuade the bosses to give some exception for you. But, when there is a lot of people working in the large companies, you will know the importance of being famous among top management of company. Maybe, you can use this soft skill on how to change a boss-employees relationships to boss-friends or friends-friends relationships. When you have strong relationships with your boss, you will not have a much difficult time during you working period. This political art is not only with your boss, but also with your officemates. Sometimes, they can help you in certain job. When you become a close friends with them, they would like to help you when needed like family.
As for disadvantages of working at big firm is your manager or boss will not teach you everything. If there is a things that you don’t know about, you need to settle it in a given time. No one in the company volunteer to help you. Everybody is doing their own work. There is might have some cases that they will help, but they will not help from early until the job is done. They only explain it roughly, then you, as a new worker need to explore it ourselves. You might search it on Internet or YouTube. You need to stand alone for it and find the solution.
If you cannot perform well in your work, then you are highly recommended to be fired by management. As for big firms, they will not waste their money and time on people that is non-productive. For them, there is still abundant of people that is jobless but have a skills that is worth to be paid. Usually a big firm considerate a person that have a lot soft skill such as communication skill and leadership skill to work for them. Employers also look for workers that have a lot of experience related to job. Management is not really care with academic certificate because both of these, experience and soft skills is more needed when confront clients. There is no use workers with a great result but nothing can they do to entertain clients.
Sometimes to being promoted is a bit difficult for new staff because to get a good salary, you must get through first the highly qualification. The chance of getting the promotion is normally quite small because senior workers will fill it first. There is also have a lot of competitors that comes from anywhere applying the job. You as a person that is fresh graduated will feel stress because environment of study and work is not same. You can feel the pressure that you will received from your officemates. This because in large company, there is a lot of people that want to make their selves is outstanding. Their intention is just to make the top management knowing them so it is easy for them to get promote. This situation will make working environment is become uncomfortable.
For big firm, you will rarely meet your CEO of the company or even the General Manager. Normally only a certain people will work in the same office with CEO such as Personal Assistant, security, Board of Directors, and Heads of Department, so, your office will be place at a different stories that will make you did not to get acquainted with them. In a big firm also they have a bit strict about rules and style of managing the company. Sometimes it is difficult for employees to ask for holiday because a lot of work need to do. Time management is very important if you are working in a big firm. Every time you come late to work, you need to see supervisor and submit a letter that show clearly what is the reason you are coming late.
In big company, you tend to be assigned a specific jobs, software, responsibility, technology. It is really good because you are not related to job that is not your field but it also will make you are not have a wide range of experience and skills. Let say, you as a developer website is only doing job as a developer. You are familiar with all of updated software in order to develop website. But, you might do not know how people in analysis team doing their job. You are not doing research what is demand of client about their website. Other than that, responsibilities of testing team is also different. After that team test your website, only then you know what the problem with your website is.
With a lot of number of workers in that company, you will get a problem about political issues in the office. If you are not careful with your officemates, then they might endanger your position. They might get jealous of you when your job is better than you and you got more attention from your bosses. Lastly, the disadvantages of working in a big firm is you will have a hard time to get to know all of the staff in the company. The company might have a thousands of workers including from another branches.

ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF SMALL FIRM
Firstly, advantages of working in a small firm, as a new employees, you are able to get to know everyone in a short time. The smaller the firm, the less people are working with the company. Basically, in a small firm, the employees is between 6-15 people only. So that, the relationship between the staffs is also close. Relationship between employees and employers also can be close because there is no boundaries between them. Usually for a small firm, they only placing the employees at on office and not in the different level. It is very different with a big firm that has a lot of branches. Because of the less people in company also will make potential of having political issues become smaller. If any problem rise up between them, they will get settled it quickly because it might affected operational daily of the company since the workers is not much.
In a small firm, you will be assigned to most of the work in office. It may look like trouble you, but this things still have a good side effect. For an example, you is a developer of website. But, you also may assigned to be in an analysis team that required you to analyse the needs of the website that you are going to develop. Or you maybe will be asked by your boss to do some designing. This job is not related with your field but a good side about it is you will have some experience about designing. You may not an expert in designing but at least you know how to do it.
When you are not perform well in your job, potential of you getting fired is low because for a small firm, they feel that it is a loss for them in term of money and time. This because when you are quit, they need to held a new interview session to find a new employees. They also need to train new employees to get used with all the technologies, software, and others thing. They only will give an advice or warning if you are not perform well.
Lastly, in a small firm, all people is willingly to help you in your job because attitude of helping each other. If you can’t do something about your job, other people will teach how to do it. You will get a feel like being with your family members because of those helping hands.

As for disadvantages of working in small firm, you will not get a big reward when company get profit because they need to recover back all the costs that has used for the project. Company might rewarded you with something like plan an outing together with other officemates. They will plan some occasion like bowling tournament, treat for dinner or a simple picnic. Your boss also might gift an extra money as a gift for your hard work to improve company’s productivity. But still the reward may not same amount compared to a big firm can give you.
In a small firm, infrastructure or facilities provided is limited for an example is personal computer for doing your work or no updated software. In this case, your skill in using some software may not improve because usually they not update their software. You may master in old version of the software but not for latest version. They will using an outdated software to do their works as long as those software fulfil their requirements. Some workplace will make you uncomfortable because of the narrow space. For some people, narrow space will get them to uncomfortable condition.
For a small firm, usually they have limited budget. So, when the budget is limited, your ability to solve the problems and create new strategies will be hard. You need to get through one by one what is needs and what is wants in order to minimize the budget. Even if you have a bombastic idea to solve the problem, but when it comes to the budget, you need to forget it and make a new plan that suit to the company’s budget.
You will not get many experience in a small firm. There will be a small number of people who are working with you that not have much an experience. This because an experience people usually will choose a big company as their choice that offer them with more payment compared to what a small firm can offer. So, when you are in problem and need to be settled quickly, you need to seek for a help from an outsider who have more knowledge and an experience.
A small firm usually not a stable company in market. They have a larger opportunities to going down. People still do not know their existence and if they do know, they are more trust products or services that they always used before. Some people afraid to try a new things even it is better than the older. A small firm need to convince people first to use their products and services. When economies are not stable, small firms is the most dangerous place to work. Those small firms also need to compete with an established company that have their own customer.
For a certain small companies, they might give you a short time break. After working for a half day, they only give you half an hour to lunch and do prayers. This happen because the number of workers is not much so you need to shorten your break in order to give other people get their lunch and do prayers too. You have to take turns with your officemates to avoid any problems that may arise during lunch hour.
Small companies usually have a long term of vision and mission. Then, they are not clear what they want to achieve. This things will have an effect towards your career because you will work without knowing what your goal is. When top management is unclear about what their target is, then the future of the company will be fuzzy and all activity and projects will become useless.

CONCLUSION
In my opinion, as a fresh graduate, I will work in small company first to get some experience first. It may look like I will have more disadvantages than advantages. But, to work at a big firm, I must have an enough experience with a strong knowledge. Big company always comes with a high demand on capabilities of their workers. To get work in a big firm, I need to have a lot of confident in order to confront with people and client. There will be a lot different kinds of challenges that must be faced during working.
Other than that, in a big companies, I will get a big responsibilities as well. My employees will think that as a fresh graduate I am able to do anything without knowing that I still have a lot of things to learn. Some people said, things that we learned during studies is not going to use during working. This because eventually things that we learned during college is not what we practised when we are in working environment. There is a lot of different because nowadays it is hard for fresh graduates to find job that related really well to their course. Students will not have much choices so they will take whatever jobs.
I am also people who has low self-esteem. To confront with an expertise and smart in their field, I don’t have much confident. So, when working in a small firm, I can build up my confidence level step by step. It may look a little bit slowly, but I need time for myself to get confidence. Even though I maybe not interact a lot with other people when working in a small firm, but at least after a year or two, I got use with working environment. After get used to it, I will transfer to a bigger firm.
