Chapter 13:
A) List eight key steps to finding a job in today's market. Pick one step and explain in detail its significance for your career. (25 words)
1) Writing the Story of You
2) Learning to Think Like an Employer
3) Researching Industries and Companies of Internet
4) Translating Your General Potential into a Specific Solution for Each Employer
5) Taking the Initiative to Find Opportunities
6) Building Your Network
7) Seeking Career Counseling
8) Avoiding mistakes

B) Explain how you plan, organize, write, and complete your resume, including choice of formats. Which do you prefer, and why? (50 words)
When initiating my resume, I first have to take into consideration my employer. Which qualities/skills are they looking for, I’m I the right fit. Most commonly, I would use the functional and chronological resume to organize. But let’s say a previous job I had a few years ago, actually has more skills in what my “hopefully new employer” is looking for, than I will use the reverse order resume. Usually the format I will use is a header with my information (name, address, number, and email), career objective, education, skills, work experience, honors, and references. When writing my resume I highlight and point out the main key points I want them to see right away. Again, this is taking into account the skills they are looking for. I also make sure everything is clear to read. For instance, not using abbreviations they won’t be able to understand on their own. Once, I have finished my resume I proofread multiple times and I at least hand it to two other people for feedback.
Chapter 14:
A) Explain the purpose of application letters, as well as the AIDA approach. (25 words)
The purpose of application letters or cover letters if you will is to inform your reader what you are sending, why your sending it, and how the reader can benefit from reading

I do understand that as a native speaker to English, this course may be a bit difficult for you, however please don't worry as I am always here to help you. This week we are putting our focuses on the "Word Power" conference. This conference has been set up for students to participate in a fun new way of introducing new words and phrases. These words and phrases are English culture specific and may be difficult to learn, however with my help I am hoping you will understand the definition of the word as well as understand the phrases that this word provokes. In this conference we are discussing the word "Joe". Joe is a simple word, yet is used in so many ways to refer to so much. The word "Joe" in its simplest form is a noun and refers to a person, place or thing. Its most common reference is to a person; "Joe" is a name or nickname. It has become an easy way to refer to other phrases that mean more than just a name. The word is very informal and is used in a casual context. The military community has also adopted the word "Joe" and it...

She has received funding for this research project but has limited experience of legal agreements such as the one she has signed and she finds its language ambiguous and problematic. In other words, such is a specialist when it comes to her discipline but a layperson in terms of her understanding of legal language. Violating terms of the agreement could have serious consequences for Dr. Chen, however. Dr. Chen has produced some interesting results from this funded research and would like to present the results at an upcoming academic conference. The conference takes place in four months. ...Content link, and my little lectures associated with each conference. You must use the textbook and the Course Content readings with dependence on the text first, and the articles second. Every discussion requires that you demonstrate your reading of assigned material, so please attend to them. The lectures are designed to expand your understanding of the policy problem for the week and I embed them as a part of the discussion. You do not need to address my postings, but if they stimulate ideas, please do. Please note reference format for Stenzel in each conference below, and the other readings. Except for Chapter 1, he is the editor, not the author of the chapter. He does not claim authorship of Chapter 1 but you may cite him. I have written each of the references in the proper APA format. Do not reinvent the wheel. Use my references when you prepare references for your conferences. Yes, all academic writing follows APA, including the conferences. My reasoning? Practice makes perfect. Periodically APA changes its style manual. And periodically I check it. If you see something, let me know. Please note that during the first week of class we introduce ourselves and read my lecture on academic integrity. I will say that most students have no issues with academic writing, and I do use the class as an opportunity for students to work on their writing skills, if needed.
