Zorro Let’s start from the very beginning. Padre Mendoza, a priest at a Spanish mission in Alta California, was worried that his mission was going to be attacked by some rogue Indians. These Indians were led by a feared chief named Chief Gray Wolf. Padre Mendoza called upon a well known military leader in California named Captain Alejandro de la Vega. Captain de la Vega was only able to round up two extra men to come with him, but he brought with him multiple horses with supplies to help the priest defend his mission. The priest enlisted the help of the converted Indians and armed them with rifles. They set up refuge in the church and set up a barrier of sand bags, they also made a wall of tar to encompass the sand bags which he would then light on fire once the Indians had breached the solid church …show more content…
When the Indians finally attacked, the attack lasted mere minutes. De la Vega struck down the chief almost instantly. They inspected the damage that had been done and inspected the bodies. Shockingly they found that the chief had not died and that he was actually a she so they attempted to revive her and they did, but after they had to determine what they were going to do with her because she was technically a murderer. De la Vega had grown to like her and decided that he should ride to the governor and ask him to determine what the punishment should be. The governor decides that his wife could teach the Indian and turn her into a lady-in-waiting. After three years, Diego and Regina( the Indian chiefs new name) reconnected at a party where Diego asked her to marry him after waiting three painful years without his love. They were given a hefty chunk of land in Alta California, the size of a small country. There they built a house and were able to have one son because Regina ran into some
