Before I could start an outline I had to take the R.I.A.S.E.C interest assessment to see what career would be perfect for me based on my skills that I have. i am well-skilled in investagating problems and analyze them to slove these problems; it's often good for students who are good in math and science. I am even good with influencing and persuading others, such as an idea in science. A skill that I didn't realized that I had is being organized when being well-detailed and like to work with data. This skill includes being able to follow directions, and also like working in creative situations, meaning to work in groups that brings in good ideas to the grouop, such as a peer group for a science debate. Once I figuired out what these skills met that I scored high on the assessement; I realized a science career would be right for me. I then thought since I loved collecting rocks, and studying the earth when I was young. I decided Geoscience would be a perfect career for me. Geoscience is a career that I am interested in, but it has a con that I would have to bare in order to be a. geologist. The con for this career is traveling a lot, because in this career I have to do field work. Since I want to be a volcanologist I would have to travel to places that had conditions of a volcano. It can be dangerious doing this type of work that is the other con for being a geologist. In order for me to bare these two cons I would have to get used being in the line of danger when being a geologist, so I would have to get spend a year in Hawaii so I can get use to active volcano that can erupt at ant time. Hawaii is a perfect place for this, because hawaii is one of the oldest volcanic island known as a hot spot. However, a pro that I see with this career deals with oceangraphers being on academic research ships through most of their career. Another career that is within geoscience is hydrology the study of "water cycles", quality of water, "circulation" and even it's "physical properties". This type of geoscience has a con to it, because not all universities focus studying on hydrology or water studies. I would balance this con by still studying about hydrology, and I would take Geology classes, because some of the topics are abut water studies, such as tides, waves and even the different zones for plant and animal life in the oceans. Hydrologists and geoscientists in a number of states need a license from the state board; the requirements for the license from the state includes "education", "experience" and passing an examination. I would weigh this con by reading more about my career, and the topics that are in the education for the career. Then I can pass the examination for the license, and along the way I would gain the expierence that is needed for the career. A pro for being a hydrologist and a geoscientists is that they start as lab technicans or offices research assistant. This was promote them to either a project leader, program manager, or they can get a position in senior research. Two pros that I have seen in my research is that being a geoscientist and a hydrologist is that this career is grows faster than any other occupation. The need for energy, ""envirmental protection" and "water management" causes this career to grow faster than any other career. Another reason why this career is high in demand because they monitor the quality of the environment, checking problems with coastal environments with soil and water contamination. In my research it states that engineering geologist is high in demand too because of an "increase of building highways", and "other infrastructure projects". When the governement increase rules about "management of storm water"; this issue is realted to "coastal environments" and "rising sea levels" can increase this career's employment growth. I can weigh these pros by being sucessful while the career is high in demand; I will do this by studying accpects about each career in geoscience. As a result, I well be expienece in any type of geoscience specification, such as volcanologist, mineralolists, stratgrapher. so I can get the best position in my career that pays well. My NVCC major is Geology;Geology is the study of the earth of how things happen and how they work within the systems of the earth, such as rock, minerals, plate tentanics, and even fossils. I have been at NVCC for two years, within these two years I have complete geology 105: introduction to the field, and I have also completed Geology 106: Historical Geology; this class is where I learned about fossils, and how interpret geologic structures, such as sand dunes, and

mudcracks. In my freshmen year of college, my friend Eli asked me what is Geology ""is it like studying rocks and stuff". I told him "No it's more than just studying rocks and stuff". I then told him that "in Geology you learn how things work and how they came to be within the earth system. For example, "in Geology you study plates how they move contients by using a transform fault, a fault is the cause of an earthquake. Eli then asked me are rocks the same as minerals. I told him "No rocks aren't the same as minerals, because minerals have a chemical composition that has an arragagement of atoms; rocks are divided into three classes sedimentary,metamorhic, and igenious rocks". I then explained that "Sedimenty rocks are more compacted and cemented to perserve fossils; metamorphic rocks are more created with high heat and pressure deep in the earth, and igenous rocks form from a melt like lava from the earth that is cooled after weeks of an volcanic eruption". I then told Eli "another reason Geology is more than studying rock, because in Geology student also studies the earth's changes, back when the earth was molten in the Hadean Eon, meaning the earth looked like haties; that's why earth eon is called Hadean". Eon's makes an era, but there has to be at least three eons. I then told Eli that Hadean Eon, Archean Eon and Proterozoic Eon makes the Precambrain. Eli then told me "wow knowing all this facts on Geology you're probarly top of your class; I then said "yes I am, because students in my Geology class asks for help when studying for a lecture exam. A year after telling Eli about my major in Geology; he ended up going from majoring accounting to majoring in Geology as well. The last time I heard from Eli; he told me that he is getting straight A's, and he got accpected to George Mason's Geology program. I want to learn how to analyize data, so I can be prepared for my geology career because I need to skill to analyize rocks or other geologic feature so I can be able to write reports bases on field work that I do for my career. In order for me to have the analyize skils to my career; I will take a on field course in geology at the Annandale campus at NVCC. This course will help me get use to fieldwork in my career, and even help me develop good analize skills to interpet the types rocks found in a outcroup. In order to gain this skill I will go to the Smithsolian and the liburary to study common geologic features that i will in the field in my career. doing this additional research on geologic features i can then creeat a notebook of things that i will ecounter during the field of the course, and in my career. i will take this in field Geology course next semester, since the requirment is to pass Geology 105 and 106, which i passed.
