I will mainly start my store by just selling sports balls. I will call my store Joey’s Sporting Balls and Equipment. I know the name sounds funny, but I am doing that on purpose to catch the attention of my potential customers. I want the name of my store to stick in their minds, and what better way to o than a pun or play on words. I will start off with two types of balls, a football and a basketball. The football will be brown in color, will have white laces, and will come in different sizes according to the level of the athlete and also to have a range in prices. It will range in size from miniature footballs for fun, small for beginners and as gift items, medium or college level, and to a large size for professional athletes, or just people who like to imitate professional athletes for...

...sounds like a bad thing to be called. So what is a whistle blower you may ask? A whistleblower is a person who informs on a person or an organization engaged in an illicit activity. So what are the pro to being a whistleblower, better yet what are the cons as well? Some of the pros are that the person who is a whistleblower is a courageous individual who recognize a wrong and are willing to take risks in order to see that the wrongs are corrected. “Personal gratification isn’t the only benefit of becoming a whistleblower though. The amount that the relator can receive most often ranges from 15% to 30% depending on whether the government intervenes in the case or not. The whistle blower will also receive 10 to 30 percent of the monies the SEC and other government authorities collect based on the whistleblower’s information if more than $1 million is collected.” (Pros and Cons of Becoming a Whistleblower) This is what most people that are whistleblowers go for. Most people don’t care about what is the right thing to do in a case but instead what the pay out may be at the end of the tunnel. The people like this are the people that don’t deserve to have a job and need to just become hermits because no one wants any one like that working for them or around them. Lets talk cons now. “Filing a qui tam or whistleblower suit is not for the light-hearted. In addition to the stress and anxiety associated with reporting a fraud, qui tam cases are filed under court seal. This prohibits...

...Nutshell By Matt Deaton, M.A. MattDeaton.net Ethics is the systematic reason-guided study of what we morally ought to do. It’s one of the four main sub-disciplines of philosophy, the other three being logic, metaphysics and epistemology. While most people defer to religion or society or their gut when deciding moral dilemmas, ethicists think through them for themselves. Whether or not we fully adopt their approach, we can all learn a thing or two from ethicists about asking the right questions, paying attention to the right factors, and holding a consistent set of moral beliefs. Oughts Based On Reason The difference between ethics and other ways of deciding what one ought to do is that ethics entails the rigorous use of reason. What we ought to do is one of those slippery questions to which conclusive answers are hard to pin down. All the traditional authorities have their flaws. Because religions ultimately appeal to faith, not evidence, and different religions proscribe different moral mandates, the objective thinker has no principled way to decide which to follow. Citing the Koran won’t convince a Christian, citing the Bible won’t convince a Muslim, and citing either won’t convince an atheist. Therefore, since ethicists want to appeal to reasons anyone can accept—regardless of their religious position—they can’t defer to holy books. Also, because societies disagree what morality entails, each just as confident in their conflicting judgment as the next, ethicists...

...Introducing... What is ethical is not always right, and what is right is not always ethical. In a work environment, people will do just about anything to not only keep their jobs, but to go above and beyond the tasks at hand. Ethical Issues arise at the work place, when they are put to the test, the outcome is executed once the person has made a choice in which direction they will go. Whether it is being asked to do a job that is unfamiliar, or invited to a party with clients, when a favor is asked, or even thinking about helping yourself better in the position your in, ethical issues will arise. Without the proper training and work experience it can be hard to determine right from wrong when different situations are at hand and being compromised. Case Number One We are going to need to bring in the troops! This situation calls for some reinforcement. If the worker does not have the proper training and knowledge, then she might not perform her new duties to the best of her ability. Covering for someone else’s job duties is hard because the expectations as well as doing the job correctly is hard. When the unexpected occurs, and a coverage is needed in an area that may be foreign to another member of the staff can be difficult for fear of responsibilities and duties that are uncommon. Concerns that I have about this issue is the tasks at hand that the worker may need to accomplish. Not having the proper training and having the correct knowledge can and might do more...

...Define what "good" means to you. Being good does not mean only by outer goodness . You have to consider being good straight from the heart i.e purely . Ultimately, you have to decide on your own code of ethics, and what matters is that you follow through with what you believe makes you a good person. At times, this may conflict with what others believe is good, and they might even accuse you of being wrong or evil. Consider their views-either they know something you don't, in which case you may learn something from them and update your morality, or perhaps their experience is limited, meaning that you should take their views with a grain of salt. Ad Be Good Step 2.jpg 2Be good for its own sake. Don't try to be a good person because your parents told you to, because you want recognition or respect, or for any kind of reward except your own satisfaction in doing what you believe is good. Never act superior to anyone else or brag about your "goodness" or "righteousness". Your dedication to a particular creed, ideology, or set of guidelines does not make you better than anyone else. Do what you believe makes you a good person on your own terms, and remember that it's an individual journey-everyone's path is unique. Do good by stealth, and blush to find it fame.[1] Be Good Step 3.jpg 3Be proactive. It's tempting to infer that as long as you avoid doing the things you know are bad (stealing, badmouthing, lying, intentionally saying hurtful things, etc.), then that means you...

...March 31, 2015 By: Tammy J Argie In a time when the people ask that all crimes be punished in some way shape or form the one that has caused the most controversy is the death penalty or also known as capital punishment. Whether on is for or against the death penalty we must remember it has been around since the late eighteenth century B.C. All crimes in that time were punished by death no matter what the crime was. When William the Conquer ruled he allowed only hangings to take place for murders and nothing else (Part 1: History of the death penalty, 2015). The first person to convicted and killed under a death penalty law was Captain George Kendall for being accused of being a spy for Spain. As times changed so did the laws for the death penalty as well as the methods. When hanging, crucifixion, burning alive, drowning, and impalement where used new methods over the years have changed. The use of the electric chair was built in 1860 but began being used in 1890. The first execution by the electric chair was William Frances Kemmler who was convicted of murdering his lover (Part 1: History of the death penalty, 2015). This would be the method used for years to come. As the years progressed and laws changed so did the sentencing of crimes and the death penalty. The last person to date that was electrocuted in the electric chair was Robert Gleason on January 16th of 2013 (Daily mail, 2013). Robert Gleason wanted to be executed and told the corrections officers that he would...

..." TER 1 Wat Is Morality. I \\·e are discussing nd-sm~ll matter, but how we ought to live. SOCRATES, AS REPORTED BY PLATO IN THE REPUBliC (CA. 390 B.C.) 1.1. The Problem of Definition Moral philosophy is the attempt to achieve a systematic under standing of the nature of morality and what it requires of us in Socrates's words, of "how we ought to live,r and why. :It would be helpful, therefore, if we could begin with a simple, uncon !roversial defiuition of what lIJ,Qrality is. But that tums out to be impossible. There are many rival theories, each expounding a different conception of what it means to live morally, and any definition that goes beyoud Socrates's simple formulation is bound to offend one or another of them. This should make us cautious, but it need not paralyze us. In this chapter I will describe what I call the "minimum con ception" of morality. As the name suggests, the minimum con ception is a core that every moral theory should accept, at least as a starting point. We will begin by examining some recent moral controversies. The features of the minimum conception will emerge from our consideration of these examples. 1.2. ...Juvenile Delinquency and Recidivism TaShara Smith A00338366 Master of Science in Criminal Justice General Walden University August 20, 2012 Criminal justice is a broad category; there are many issues within criminal justice that can definitely use adjustments just as with any other subject in society. The increasing amount of crime in the United States has become unbearable for those who are living within the country. Juvenile delinquency and juvenile recidivism is at an all-time high; there is a vast amount of society that participates in juvenile crime prevention while others pretend like it is not their job. In order for anything to be successful everyone involved must put forth a joint effort. This paper will focus on a targeted population of juveniles African Americans and those of low economic status along with delinquency and recidivism, who commits juvenile crimes, why do juveniles reoffend. Juvenile delinquency is of great importance; and juvenile recidivism is even more important everyone should take the time to participate in some way in order to prevent it. Often time’s society questions why there is so much juvenile crime and recidivism that exist, but reality is until everyone works as a team instead of in separation juvenile crime and recidivism will stand just as it did the first day it started. The best research methods to use to retrieve credible and somewhat accurate information would definitely have to be both quantitative and qualitative research...

...Linsey Daley Business Law BUSI 301 In the case of Mrs. White and the O’Malley Tavern I would say that of course Mr. Hard is at fault for drinking and driving, but I also feel that O’Malley’s Tavern is also at fault for over serving a customer to the point of excessive intoxication. The facts of the case were very clear cut and obvious to me. The bartender at O’Malley’s Tavern served Mr. Hard six beverages within the last half hour he was at the bar. On the tab Mr. Hard paid it showed that he ordered 13 drinks and that 11 of them were consumed by Mr. Hard. His blood alcohol content was at a .20, which is two times the legal limit of .08. Being in the medical field and also being a Command Drug and Alcohol Program Advisor for the Navy I know that at a .20 there is no way you are of sound mind to do anything. Usually a person with this Blood alcohol content are confused, they need help completing tasks (standing, walking, using the bathroom), they are between 50-100 times more likely to get into an accident, and they are very close to being incoherent. At 7:43pm Mr. Hard left the bar, according to the bartender, appearing to be of sound mind and judgment. He was picked up by the police at 7:55pm slurring, disheveled and with no recollection of what had happened. Clearly this man had way too much to drink and should have never been served this much in such a short period of time. According to the Dram Shop Act Indiana Code 7.1-5-10-15.5 “Sec. 15. (a) It is unlawful...

In 2014, a group study discovered that of all court cases, the insanity defense had be used in 1% of cases. In addition, the success rate of those cases is only about 26% (Apecsec). Let’s think about the word insanity, it translate to madness or mentally ill. Another word to check out is crazy, it translated to mean aggressively wild. ...1. What is the purpose of the War Powers Initiative? The purpose of the War Powers Initiative was to analyzing how the United States government should constitutionally make the decision to use armed force abroad. A quote from the text to support this is, “The third provides that troops may not be quartered in private homes without the owner's consent” (Section 4). This was based on the Georgetown University Public Policy Institute. The Initiative would improve on how the United States would make decisions about armed forces. There is a board for the War Powers Initiative to make these decisions. There are seventeen board members on the War Powers Initiative. 2. What is the purpose of the Death Penalty Initiative? The purpose of the Death Penalty Initiative is to make sure that inaccuracies and injustices that our in the punishment system are addressed. ...in order to obtain the loan: 1. Issue $50,000 of common stock in exchange for cash to a friend who is interested in investing in the company. This would increase assets (cash) by $50,000 and increase owner's equity by $50,000. or 2. Transfer $50,000 of Keiser's personal land to the business and issue common stock to herself. After the loan is obtained, Keiser will transfer the land back to herself and zero out the common stock. This would temporarily increase assets (land) by $50,000 and increase owner's equity by $50,000. Discuss the ethical issue in this case. Analyze the alternatives from an ethical and a business point of view. Who are the stakeholders? What are the consequences? What would you do? The ethical issue in this case is she is willing to manipulate her finances in order to obtain a loan for $100,000. This is an ethical issue also very dishonest. Even though Kat will use dishonesty to apply for this $100K loan, there are advantages borrowing money from the bank. You will be charged interest when you go through a lender, however, they will not tell you how to run your business. The bank won’t have right to any of Kat’s profits; the only thing Kat has to do is repay the loan on time. Another possible advantage when borrowing from a lender is as a business owner you can sometimes write off the interest as a business expense. For the business standpoint, borrowing money from a lender can be beneficial if everything else lines up. Before Kat adjusts...

...Bullying is very wrong but some people mistake bullying for something else for instance if someone teases you once they think that that’s bullying but it’s not bullying, bullying is when one or multiple verbally abuse you or constantly physically abuse you, But in most cases bullying is very wrong and there should be human dignity in everyone. Bullying and Human dignity are to completely different things there is no Human dignity in Bullying. I hope that we can stop bullying in every place that someone doesn't show human dignity and that everyone can just get along and brings out the good human dignity in everyone. The definition of human dignity is to be nice to won and another and to pretty much be nice and respectful to one another. Matthew said in the bible “So in everything, do to others the same way you would like to be treated”. Matthew: 7.12. This is the golden rule it pretty much tells us what human dignity is and how we can use it in everyday life....
