Submitting Abstracts to Google Scholar

Confidential
Google Scholar requires some strict guidelines for inclusion. ASIB will need to ensure all documents are formatted correctly on their website to be considered for inclusion on Google Scholar. I have outlined some of the requirements below. For more detailed information on specific requirements, visit Google Scholars website at http://www.google.com/intl/en/scholar/inclusion.html#overview.

Guidelines 1. Visitors (or search robots) must be able to freely view abstracts without the need to sign in, install software, accept disclaimers, dismiss popup advertisements, click on links or scroll down the page before they can read the entire abstract. If these aspects are present, Google Scholar will not consider ASIB’s website for inclusion. 2. Large documents, over 5MB, should be uploaded to Google Book Search as these files are too large for Google Scholar. 3. Because Google Scholar utilizes automated software to crawl websites to fetch information and refresh content, files will need to be in either HTML or PDF format. Please note that PDF files must have searchable text. To ensure documents are searchable, please review Adobe.com for requirements. To make scanned documents searchable, OCR (optical character recognition) must be selected when PDFs are scanned. 4. If ASIB’s website has over a thousand journals, Google Scholar recommends listing them by the date of the publication to make sure they are all discovered by the search robots. For websites with over 100,000 papers, an additional browse interface that lists articles recently added is recommended to optimize search time. Please note that Flash, JavaScript or form-based navigation can make it difficult for Google’s

On May 12, 2010 the Governor of Illinois notified the President of FSEU Local 343 about the State’s intent. The President of FSEU has asked the union members if the union should oppose the outsourcing proposal. On June 5, 2010 the FSEU Director of Human Resources responded to the President of FSEU Local 343 with the union member’s discussion and recommended opposing the outsourcing proposal. The paper uses the methodology from the book “Asking the Right Questions – A Guide to Critical Thinking” by M. Neil Bowne and Stuart M. Keeley, to analyze the memo from FSEU Director of Human Resources to the President, FSEU Local No. 343.
