The usage of mobile phones in today’s society, especially in the younger generation, is increasing and posing many potential health threats as numerous studies have shown. This covers a broad range of health issues, ranging from physical to social wellbeing.
The reason for such concern stems from the fact that there is an ever increasing number of youths with access to mobile phones. This is due to the fact that more parents want to be able to contact their children to ensure their safety and be aware of their whereabouts.
One of the greatest physical health concerns for youths that are voiced is the possibility of hindering brain development due to use of mobile phones. Mobile phones are known transmitters of radiofrequency (RF) and electromagnetic emissions (EME) and they have the potential to influence tissue development. There is now a hypothesis that children are especially susceptible to these emissions as their skulls are thinner than adults’ and they also have less brain tissue.

Although no conclusive evidence has been found that directly links mobile phone usage and brain development, Professor Michael Abramson, a Monash University researcher into the effect of radio-frequency effects on the body, said “some centres showed an association in people who had used a mobile phone on that side of the head (as the cancer) for more than 10 years.” Professor Armstrong - former WA Health Department chief – said because so many people used mobile phones that any small effect could potentially mean a lot of harm. "I certainly can't say it's harmful, nor can I confidently say it's definitely safe, so I'm sitting on the fence."

A social health issue raised by parents is the increasing factor mobile phones play in the rise in cyber-bullying.

Mobile bullying refers to using the phone to harass, menace or offend someone, such as sending obscene images, threats

Being knowledgeable about some of the common tools hackers are using will help us to protect our computers from being cracked into. Hacking has been around for decades dating all the way back to 1903 with the infamous Nevil Maskelyne who hacked into a wireless telegraphy demonstration by sending denigrating mores codes through a projector. (Marks) Another prominent, but more recent scandal was the attack on Target’s security and payment system that left millions of consumers credit card numbers and personal information open and at risk to be obtained for illegal use. Why Are Young Drivers Dangerous

...behind driving and the perspective in which it is done, a range of different methods of persuasion should be tested. Different methods should be used to curb the menace of young drivers driving recklessly. For instance, increased enforcement and communication may be used concurrently. Various communication campaigns should emphasize the dangers of perilous behavior specifically targeting young drivers (Caird, 2005).  Road crashes are among the biggest killer of young drivers all over the world. Business Ethics

...01 May 2012 1. Background The literature being studied is an article written by Hellen O’ Sullivan, the Director of Scientific Methods Australia. The article entitled “Business ethics are set to stage a comeback” was published on the 75th page of The Australian Financial Review on the 6th February 1990. 2. Literature Review Basically, the article discussed several important issues about business ethics. One of the most prominent was the remark she made about business ethics making a comeback. The conclusion was made upon the fact that business ethics are becoming more and more popular among business practitioners as the era of ‘Me-generation’, and its obsession with greed and profit at any cost draws to a close. Besides that, another notable issue addressed was the positive correlation between business ethics and corporate performance. She suggested that recent corporate failures resulted from a singularly motivated strategy of making profits. She also noted that the 1990’s avalanche of corporate collapse could be all attributed directly or indirectly to the decline in business ethics. The third issue raised was the role of managers or business leaders to actually uphold business ethics. She suggested that the formulation of a sound ethical code of practice should be a part of every company’s strategy and that it is the first responsibility of every business leadership. 3. Procedures I have made a research regarding the issues identified...

Technology has ensured that one can easily communicate with anyone on land, in air(aeroplanes) or even when the person is under the calm waves of dark deep-sea (submarines). But the Time Creation aspect of technology has now posed a challenge and threat which very few had ever thought of. Computers – They have evolved rapidly at the rate of knots. ...Descriptive Topics for IBPS PO 2012 The best way to inspire and involve the Indian youth in making India an upcoming economic power is for all political parties to engage themselves in politics of development. In your well-considered opinion what measures should be adopted to achieve the goal. Needless to reiterate and reaffirm that India needs politics of development rather than the politics of polemics and populism. More than ever before, both people and political parties should see to it that they work for harmony and not for acrimony among people professing different faiths and practising varied ways of conduct and character in their day to day lives. No other concern and consideration should weigh on the perceptions and priorities of politicians, programmers and planners, except those that enhance developmental activities in all walks of life and ultimately help improve quality of life of those subsisting at the lowest levels of our socio-economic ladder. It is time now that political parties of every hue and hype focused their manifestos, programmes and policies on developmental vision and pragmatic approach and action to achieve the goals of social justice. There is no denying that the most effective measure in this direction is the involvement of youth in developmental activities and a harmonious harnessing of their youthful energies and enthusiasm. For this to happen on the ground, we, as an upcoming nation, need to orient ourselves towards development, whether on farms...

Bullying

...Bullying Phoebe Nora Prince was born in England but at a young age moved to Fanore, County Clare, Ireland. You can't get more rural than Fanore, it has one main street, blink and you miss it. In fact the West of Ireland is notoriously rural and unspoiled. Fanore is nestled on the Irish Sea and is 10 miles from Quilty, the village where my Grandmother came from in County Clare. When I heard about this young girl taking her life after being subjected to bullying, it really hit home for me. My heart broke for her. All I could think was that she was like a lamb to slaughter. Thrown into an American High School, there was no way this sheltered child could have coped with such a sea change in culture. The District Attorney when speaking about the South Hadley High School administration, said that they had " a lack of understanding of harassment" when dealing with bullying at the school. So what exactly is bullying? The definition of bullying is "Bullying is a conscious, willful and repetitive act of aggression and/or manipulation and/or exclusion by one or more people against another person or people". (Sullivan 10). But Sullivan further describes bullying to contain the following: * Bullying is abusive and cowardly * Harm is intended. * It is repetitive and can occur over a short or a long period of time. * The person(s) doing the bullying has more power than the ones(s) being victimized. * It is often hidden from people in authority. *...

The United States has a lot of social problems. Since there is a lot of land, a vast majority of different cultures have settled here. As a result of all these different cultures colliding, social problems are common. Poverty is one of these problems. In order to deal with this, the United States government has created Welfare Programs. These programs give poor families money to get food, shelter, etc. Food stamps are issued, insurance is provided to the unemployed, and Head Start schools are provided for children. On top of these, nonprofit organizations set up numerous funding drives for the poor. These all sound good on paper, but some of these people are taking advantage of these programs. Some people feel it's the government's job to provide for them instead of getting a job. As a result, the taxpayer is the one who pays for these people's needs. Since people get a free ride, the poverty rates remain high. In Britain, one of their major social problems is race related. Instead of having mixed communities, only a certain race lives in a neighborhood in northern Britain. As tension built up between these...
