Cesar’s Last breath book report

Cesar’s Last Breath by Sam Kean is about all the air that we breath on a daily basis. It was published on July 18,2017 and it is an non- fiction chemistry book. There is a lot of people that don’t understand what’s in all the air around us, and this book explains the history of our air in a way that people can understand what it is that we breathe everyday. I was one of the ones that didn’t know what is in the air or how long it could stay there in the atmosphere and we could rebreathe the same air that people from hundreds of years ago took in. It’s explains how and when each of the gas molecules found in the atmosphere and air were discovered and by who. I always thought that …show more content…
We inhale 120 billion molecules every time we breathe”. (Cesar’s last breath) That’s not all though there are many more like nitrogen who “currently makes up 78% of the air.”(Cesar’s last breath) The author of this book feels that we as humans take the air that we breathe for granted, and I feel like that’s on of the main reasons why he wrote this book. He wrote it to educate us about what’s coming into our bodies to help keep us alive. We shouldn’t take the air that we have for granted because our “air has profoundly it has shaped - and continues to shape human life”. (Caesar's last breath) In the last chapter of the book he talks about how we should learn about other planets atmospheres. This chapter had me interested because he said that by learning more about other planets atmosphere and their air that it could help us learn a lot more about ours here on earth. I thought it was cool because with science we have come a long way since the beginning of time, but there is still a lot of things we have yet to discover. Scientist aren’t just studying one thing to help them become genius’s about one single topic; they are …show more content…
Personally the beginning of the book was a little hard to get into because he just talked about how the air that people have exhaled can stay in the atmosphere and how you might be inhaling the exact breathe that Julius Caesar last exhaled. It wasn’t til towards the middle that I started getting into it. I like how he explained the molecules and the some stories that go along with them and how much of them we inhale every time we breathe. The major strengths tat this book has is how well it goes into depth like I keep saying that was my favorite thing about it. I dot get into science books because for the most part I find them boring and very difficult to read. The stories about the molecules and the ones like “the peasants attacking a balloon that landed outside Paris”(Caesar's last breath) arereally eye catching and kind o fun to read. The author is very qualified to be writing non-fiction. He has so many amazing sources that he lost in his book md he give all te people credit with his writings. I can tell this guy know what he way writing about and is very passionate about the subject. You can feel the emotion and the arguments that he puts into his writings. In the end the book was good, but you have to be a person that wants to read something about atmosphere and air. I would say people who are in college or older should read it because it’s very hard to get into at the beginning even
