...Matter of Opinion I do not agree with the article and I would like to explain why. First let’s take a look at the statement “entitled to an opinion”, what does it mean to be entitled? Entitlement is simply staking claim, so when someone says they are “entitled to their opinion” what they are saying is they are claiming the opinion as theirs. We can assume this to be true because they have stated an opinion and now they are stating that the opinion is theirs, while this should be the end of the story it is far from over. Part of the problem with this article is the fact that the author is stating his opinion that “people are not entitled to their opinions” as fact, however he contradicts himself. Fact either is or is not true, so either people are entitled to their opinions or they are not, he can’t have it both ways, but this is exactly what he is trying to do when he specifically states in the article that there are some opinions that just can’t be argued, such as those involving personal preference (Stokes, 2012, para 7). It makes sense then that if an opinion cannot be argued against for reason of logic then the person of the opinion must be entitled to it. My argument does not stop there however, let’s just assume people who have opinions on their personal preference are not entitled to them and move on to what I believe the author was really trying to convey, people should not have an opinion unless it is based in fact and they can back it up. What about Juries? Are...

UCS food, UCR drooling, CS bell, CR drooling when bell 2. Describe stimulus generalization and give an example. generalization is the tendency, once a response has been conditioned, for a stimuli similar to the conditioned stimulus to elicit similar responses. An example is a dog conditioned to droll when rubbed but it would also happen when scratched or touched in a different place. 3. Describe two possible explanations for the decrease in responding observed during extinction. Describe which explanation the phenomena spontaneous recovery supports. extinction is the diminishing of a conditioned response; occurs in classical conditioning when an unconditioned stimulus does not follow a conditioned stimulus; occurs in operant conditioning when a response in no longer reinforced. 4. Describe and give an example of shaping. shaping is an operant conditioning procedure in which reinforcers guide behavior toward closer and closer approximations of the desired behavior giving a rat food every time it pushes a bar 5. ...Principles of Marketing Referential answers for assignments Chapter1 D3 Discuss the differences between the production, product, selling, marketing, and societal marketing concepts. Identify circumstances where each one may be appropriate. The production concept: consumers will favor products that are available and highly affordable, which is useful when demand for a product exceeds the supply. The product concept: consumers favor products that are highest in quality, performance, and innovative features, which focus on continuous product improvement. The selling concept: consumers will not buy enough of products unless it undertakes a large-scale selling and promotion effort. Firms often practice the selling concept when they face overcapacity. The marketing concept: achieving organizational goals depends on knowing the needs and wants of target markets and delivering the desired satisfactions better than competitors do. It works best in competitive markets where companies are in tune with customer’s product requirements. The societal marketing concept: marketing strategy should deliver value to customers in a way that maintains or improves both the consumer’s and the society’s well-being. ...Human Service Professionals and Helping Skills Sara Ouellette BSHS/305 May 23, 2016 Cassidy Hawf Human Service Professionals and Helping Skills In our society today there is a great need for helping professionals being able to work with individuals as well as their families and communities. The dysfunction that starts in a single family can spread to affect many people throughout a geographical area. Helping just the one individual sometimes is not the answer because without correcting their surroundings, what you do to help them will be in vain. Once reintroduced to the situation that they had been removed from for treatment or help they will revert to their old ways and behaviors that brought them to you in the first place and thus a vicious cycle will begin. It is important to know your client base and what helping services will work best to get positive results. The Helping Process There are infinite ways of helping people. There are however set practices that all helping professionals learn and will use in their day to day interactions with their clients. There are five stages of the helping process that can be applied to every client: 1. Physical setting and review – Before your client ever arrives you should make sure that your space is inviting and comfortable. It should put your client at ease and make it easier to talk to them. ...Purpose and History Chris Souza CJA/234 May 5, 2014 Moore When you think of the purpose of prison, what comes to mind? To house some of the world’s most notorious criminals? To rehabilitate those who has seen the evil of their own ways? Or has America's melting pot of philosophies has made it difficult to manage societal institutions? Throughout this paper the discussion of how the history of prison development was established. The history of punishment for those who committed their crimes will be in focus. We will compare the Pennsylvania system and the Auburn system to each other. Finally, the impact of prison labor overtime shall be discussed. For some the purpose of prison is to protect society from criminals who intend to harm innocent civilians. For others a prison's purpose is to rehabilitate citizens who need skills to become upstanding members of society. Still others believe that a prison provides a way for criminals to be punished and therefore pay their debt to society. Within the correctional system of America there are varying degrees of incarceration. The history of punishment in corrections of prisons can be dated back as far as 1750 B.C. One of the earliest known written codes that specified different types of offenses and punishments was the Code of Hammurabi. The Code of Hammurabi was divided into sections to cover different types of offenses and contained descriptions of the punishments to be imposed to offenders. (Lych, 2014) There were five punishments...

...Critical Issues in Policing Chaz Gonzales CJA/214 Anthony Maez November 19, 2014 Critical Issues in Policing Policing is a vital occupation to hold and necessary for society to function properly without too much concern about dangerous situations. There are many factors that are critical and vital to police to do their jobs effectively. Some issues pertain to equipment and others just to scenarios faced out in the field and how to handle them. The most recognized danger in policing is of course that of being shot. However, there are other multiple dangers that are dealt with on a daily basis. Some that the public may not think of are those like foot pursuits, vehicle pursuits, responding code 3 (lights and sirens), making an arrest, stress, heat stroke, equipment duty, and biohazard and sun exposure. The equipment alone can weigh up to 20 pounds and includes items like ballistic vests and heavy leather belts containing batons, pepper spray, handcuffs, a radio and a handgun. The weight from this equipment can puts a tremendous amount of stress on the back, hips, knees and feet. Another thing to keep in mind is that officers get in and out of their patrol car upwards of 20 times a day while wearing this equipment. The result of this combination can be injury to the point of being unable to work in law enforcement indefinitely. Exposure to extreme temperatures for extended periods of time isn’t uncommon. ...Running head: Portfolio Project- Capital Budgeting Page 1 Capital Budgeting April Sutton July 12, 2013 FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT 3004 Instructor Nickey Turner Walden University Running head: Portfolio Project-Capital Budgeting Page 2 INTRODUCTION Capital Budgeting is defined as the process of planning and managing a firm’s long-term investments (Ross, Westerfield & Jordan. 2013). The question of what long term investment should be made is the first step of answering this question. The issues that arise with the asking of this question will be detailed in this paper. Capital Budgeting techniques include the Payback Rule, IRR, NPV, and the Profitability Index. PAYBACK RULE The payback method indicates that an investment is acceptable if its calculated payback is less than some prescribed number of years. The payback method does not consider the present value of cash flows. Under this method, an investment project is accepted or rejected on the basis of payback period. Payback period means the period of time that a project requires to recover the money invested in it (www.accountingformanagement.org).The payback period of a project is expressed in years and is computed using the following formula: Formula of payback period: According to this method, the project that promises a quick recovery of initial investment is considered desirable. If the payback period of a project computed by the above formula is shorter than or equal to the management’s...
