Executive Summary of Sponsorship Proposal

The Charlotte Bobcats are a professional basketball team based in Charlotte, NC. The team is a member of the Southeast Division of the Eastern Conference of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Our organization was established in 2004, two years after the previous NBA franchise, the Charlotte Hornets, relocated to New Orleans. The Charlotte area and the Carolinas in general have long been associated with the thrill and excitement of basketball. During the days of the American Basketball Association (ABA), the Carolina Cougars were a region team who enjoyed enthusiastic support. From their inception in 1988 until the relocation in 2002, the Charlotte Hornets were one of the most exciting and well supported teams in the NBA, leading the league in attendance for 7 years during which time the team strung together an eye popping 364 consecutive home sellouts! While the Bobcats have not found that level of success as yet, the 2014 NBA season will be our biggest season ever as we will finally launch the long awaited re-branding of the Charlotte Bobcats franchise to the Charlotte Hornets. We have heard the voice of our fans and once the New Orleans Hornets re-branded themselves the New Orleans Pelicans, our beloved nickname became available to us. There is a palpable “buzz” in the Carolinas as we near this rebirth. "People that have not come to many Bobcats games at all are now buying season tickets," said Bobcats President and COO Fred Whitfield (Martinez, 2013). In spite of being the worst team in the league over the course of the last two seasons, ticket sales for the 2013 Bobcats are up 60 percent, the team is in the top 10 in new ticket sales, in the top 10 in season ticket renewals, and once the switch over to the Hornets name is finalized, an even larger spike is expected (Martinez). We envision the Charlotte area and the Carolinas assuming a leading role in sport media during the 21st century and beyond. The Charlotte Bobcats/Hornets are going to be a big piece of that future. In order to meet our goals we are searching for like minded partners who have the desire and ability to be civic minded while delivering the best available product to fans and customers. We believe the time is right for the Charlotte Bobcats, a leader in the NBA to partner with Verizon Wireless, America's leading mobile network operator to form an unbeatable team with limitless potential!
Just like the Bobcats, Verizon Wireless appeals to the all important 18-49 year old demographic. Through a partnership with us, VW can secure loyal Bobcats fans as loyal VW customers. We play our home games in the state of the art Time Warner Cable Arena (TWCA). TWCA is also home to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL), musical concerts, recently hosted the 2012 Democratic National Convention and it's center hung 16' x 28' Daktronics screen is the largest of any indoor arena. These audiences will be exposed to the Verizon Wireless logo on signs and advertisements throughout the venue.
We aim to help VW achieve it's stated mission of enabling people and businesses to communicate with each other and believe a partnership with us will go a long way toward doing so particularly in our region. The three sponsorship options we have chosen to present to you include the “Jordan Slam”, which is the higher end option of the three, the “Jordan Jumper”, and the “Jordan Buzzer Beater”. Each plan offers a wide variety of opportunities for exposure in the arena, parking areas, and concourse.

Compatibility with Sponsor's Image & Target Market

Verizon Wireless is a brand which is universally respected in not only it's industry, but in the business world at large. It is the largest mobile network operator in the United States, currently providing services to over 118 million subscribers. Verizon Wireless attracts and targets key segments of the population who spend money and make decisions, appealing to young, hip, urban trendsetters, and tech-savvy consumers as well as business professionals, mobile moms and families.

The NBA, more so than other sports leagues has a history and image which is cool, hip and distinctly urban. The Charlotte Bobcats are not excepted from this vibe. Bobcats fans are young, hip tech-savvy professionals, who are constantly on the go. These young, busy movers and shakers tend to have so many entertainment options, they must be immediately grabbed by their entertainment before they lose interest; that is one area TWCA has covered.

Prior to the 2012 Democratic National Convention, TWCA was outfitted with greater than state of the art high capacity Wi-Fi technology. The Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi system allows the arena to provide pervasive Wi-Fi service to all public seating areas, while also providing coverage to the locker rooms, luxury suites, concourses, and back office areas in the facility (Ruckus Wireless, 2012).

We have all been there I am sure.
