BED LINER KIT

BED LINER APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
HERCULINER Brush-on Bed Liner is a polyurethane-based product that is designed to be easily applied to any truck bed with great results. It is important that you follow the application instructions as closely as possible. Any deviation or deletion from these application instructions may have a negative effect on the end results. Be sure to read all instructions and warnings completely before beginning. If you have any questions regarding these procedures or safety issues about HERCULINER, please call our customer service line at (800) 477-5847 between the hours of 8AM and 5PM CST.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU START! It is very important that this product be applied in a well ventilated area and that chemical resistant gloves are worn during application.

Important: This kit contains one (1) gallon of HERCULINER, which is sufficient to cover one (1) six-foot truck bed. Eight-foot truck beds will require an additional quart of HERCULINER.
Other items you will need to complete the job: • One quart of Xylene (Xylol), Acetone or MEK Solution for surface preparation only • 2" wide masking tape • Paint roller pan • Rubber gloves • Clean up rags • Stir stick or paint mixing drill attachment

CAUTION: HERCULINER bonds to skin, clothing and metal surfaces quickly and is very difficult to remove once it dries. Be careful to avoid getting any residue on your skin, painted surfaces and clothing. Use Xylene (Xylol) or Acetone immediately to remove HERCULINER, and wash area with soap and water. See PRECAUTIONS AND WARNING LABELS for further information.

INSTRUCTIONS: (1) Remove tailgate. (2)

Clean heavy dirt and grime from truck bed and tailgate. Sweep out large debris and use a household detergent such as TSP (Trisodium Phosphate) and water to thoroughly remove all dirt, including oil spots and petroleum products residue. Make sure to rinse surface well with a clean rag and fresh water. Allow truck bed and tailgate to dry thoroughly. Remove tailgate hardware if it is in an area that you are going to coat. Mask off all areas that you wish not to be coated.

(3) (4)

Sweep out the truck bed thoroughly of any large debris.

Carefully masking areas where you do not want HERCULINER applied is one of the most important aspects of application. Be sure to take your time and rub masking tape down for a good protective seal. Remember, the cleaner your mask job, the better the outcome.
(5) (6) (7) At the same time fill drain plugs and latch bolt holes with masking tape. Using the scouring pad provided, scuff all paint surfaces where HERCULINER is to be applied, leaving no glossy areas. Blow out or wipe down truck bed and tailgate, removing all excess sanding dust.

Be sure to scuff all painted surfaces where HERCULINER is going to be applied, leaving no glossy areas. This will provide a superior bond between HERCULINER and the truck bed surface.

(8)

Wipe down truck bed and tailgate with Xylene (Xylol), Acetone or MEK solution and a rag (it is recommended to wear rubber gloves while working with any solvents and when applying HERCULINER). IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE YOU ARE WORKING IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA AND HAVE READ ALL CAUTIONARY MEASURES ON XYLENE (Xylol) CONTAINER. Allow Xylene (Xylol), Acetone or MEK to dry completely (about 10 minutes). Please be aware the can lid is very tightly sealed for safe transportation and may be difficult to open.

(9)

Remember to wear rubber gloves while working with HERCULINER and all solvents.

(10) Before applying HERCULINER, be sure to wear chemical resistant gloves. HERCULINER is very difficult to remove from skin once it has dried. (11) Stir HERCULINER very well (for best results, use an electric drill motor with a paint-mixing attachment or a metal paint mixer). (12) HERCULINER may be thinned 10% with Xylene (Xylol) if it thickens after opening. DO NOT USE ANOTHER CHEMICAL OTHER THAN XYLENE (XYLOL) FOR THINNING. (13) Start by coating seams and corners of truck bed using the 2" brush provided. Dab HERCULINER on rather than brushing it on like paint. Start with a light first coat, being careful not to let HERCULINER clump or run. Coat tailgate areas in the same manner.

Use the 2" brush included to apply HERCULINER to corners and areas where the roller won’t reach. Dab the coating on rather than brushing it on. This will give you a more even surface application. You can later touch up with the brush as well.

(14) After you have completed sealing the seams and corners, begin to roll HERCULINER on front and side panels of truck bed using the special foam stipple roller and handle provided.

For best results, STIR HERCULINER THOROUGHLY BEFORE USING AND WHILE YOU ARE WORKING. This keeps the rubber particles suspended and assures even application. Apply a light first coat. This acts as a “primer” for your second coat. Roll as much on the truck bed surface as possible and use the brush for corners and tight spots where a roller can’t fit.
(15) Next, gently roll HERCULINER onto the floor of the truck bed. (16) Coat the tailgate in the same manner. NOTE: In some applications it might be beneficial to dab HERCULINER into the lower parts of the floor and tailgate slats with the paint brush and then roll the HERCULINER onto the top part. Be careful to watch for clumping of rubber particles. (Keep the brush moist with Xylene (Xylol) during breaks or store the brush in a small plastic bag, between coats, etc. Also occasionally stir HERCULINER to keep it from clumping). Discard used roller after first coat. (17) After the first coat has been applied to the truck bed and tailgate, allow HERCULINER to set up (approximately 1-4 hours or when it is no longer tacky - slightly longer for red and gray HERCULINER). Make sure to apply the second coat within 24 hours of the first coat application. Otherwise you will need to clean and scuff the first coat prior to applying the second coat. NOTE: TWO COATS OF HERCULINER ARE REQUIRED FOR ADEQUATE COVERAGE. (FAILURE TO APPLY TWO COMPLETE UNIFORM COATS WILL COMPROMISE THE DURABILITY AND REDUCE THE LONGEVITY OF THE HERCULINER TRUCK BED COATING). Use new roller to apply second coat. (18) Apply a second coat of HERCULINER to the taped seam just before the first coat dries. This will enable the tape to be removed without tearing. If tape sticks to HERCULINER, run a razor along the taped edge. (19) Repeat the application process for the second coat (steps 13-16). (20) Areas can be touched up with a small brush and unwanted HERCULINER can be removed with Xylene (Xylol), Acetone, or MEK solution while it is still wet. (21) After second coat is dry to the touch, check for any missed spots and touch up. (22) Install tailgate and hardware. (23) The truck bed will be ready for light use in 10-12 hours.

Please dispose of unused HERCULINER and all materials used during application in a responsible manner.

Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Can cause irritation. AVOID BREATHING VAPOR. USE IN A WELL VENTILATED AREA. May cause coughing and lung irritation, headache, dizziness, nausea. Harmful or fatal if swallowed. If swallowed, contact doctor or poison control center. Do not induce vomiting. Give a glass of water. If skin contact occurs, wipe clean with Xylene (Xylol) before HERCULINER dries. Remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with soap and water.

Classical Argument: Earthquakes

...Adrian Howley Classical Argument Reporting earthquakes are very critical to studying the behavior of tectonic plates. The very first recorded earthquake occurred in the year 1831 B.C. and is currently known today as the 526 Antioch Earthquake. The area affected was Antioch, China (located between the Syria and Turkey regions). Not much is known about how the report was formed. However, this historic report did include information about how the aftershocks lasted for twelve months. Other details from this report indicate that the death toll is around 250,000 to 300,000 casualties. Scientists today can only prove that the earthquake occurred between May 20 and May 29 (date translated from B.C. to Calendar Year). The first instrument to measure the seismic waves of earthquakes was invented by Charles F. Richter at the California Institute of Technology. (Bellis, 2013) He introduced his new instrument called the Richter scale, to the world of science. His invention allows scientists today to study the mechanics behind earthquakes and locate the epicenter to which the natural disaster originated. The largest earthquake recorded by the Richter scale was measured on May 22, 1960 at a magnitude of 9.5. The quake resulted in 1,886 deaths, 2,000,000 homeless, and $1,175,000,000 total in damages. (“The Largest Earthquake”, [PDF file]) If we want to see these large numbers slide down to zero, the impossible will need to be challenged by science. Skyscrapers are buildings consisting...

The most renowned early example of a structure where height was key are the Pyramids of Giza where elevation was crucial in order to radiate power and divine authority. What Are the Key Aspects in the Construction and Design of the Burj Dubai Tower?

...structure. The Burj Dubai, situated in Dubai, will soon be the tallest building in the world, bypassing the previous record holder, the Taipei 101 by almost 290 metres giving it an astonishing 800 metre height. With over 2700 feet, designing and constructing such a vast building has given significant challenges to engineers and designers alike. Since the building can hold up to 35,000 people at once, it is essential that it is strong, comfortable and able to move people up and down it at a steady rate. This essay will explore how the designers and engineers went about solving these issues. One of the key problems the engineers had to overcome was effect of the wind load and how it would affect the building motions due to the extraordinary height of the tower. Wind load is something that must be taken into account for all buildings, but obviously the wind velocity increases the higher you go and since the structure is over 800 metres tall, there is guaranteed to be a large wind force acting on the building. Three different engineering firms: Skidmore, Owings and Merrill who were all working on the project, hired the RWDI (Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc.) a wind and environmental engineering firm to conduct wind studies on the Burj Dubai’s design. The RWDI had worked on a number of previous projects such as the Petronas Towers and the Taipei 101 and its facilities included four boundary wind tunnels. Their job was to minimize the effects of the wind load and building motion of the...

My Journal Entry 1

...Entry 1 (24th September 2012) It's exactly 12:01 am now, and seeing that this is my first entry, I should update a little of myself. I'm currently at Taiwan for a short vacation with my high school friends of about 10years. And they are Lee Sue Ee, Soh Pei Ling, and Chong Yee Wun. We arrived here on Saturday, 22nd September 2012, and so far it has been an hectic journey seeing that we are here on our own for the first time and we did not go through any travel agency. Enough of updating, I just finish my STA assessment and e-mailed it to my group mates to submit later in the morning. I just hope that I did good enough despite my heavy schedule and with little initiative. Oh yes, I am now in my room while the girls are sleeping and the view is just amazingly breath-taking. How fortunate i am that I could do my assignment while looking at this sea view. The sound of the rushing waves eases my mind to relaxation and light music as my background to suit my emotion. The only thing that lack, is a partner to share this spectacular moment. Anyway, I should sleep now. Gotta be up early later for another tour around the north-east Taiwan before heading to the capital city Taipei later in the evening. I will update my entry again later whilst exploring every possibility here. Good Night ! Good afternoon, it was quite a day after waking up restlessly. Breakfast here was amazing, I mean, what more can we ask with such nature phenomenal as our spectacular view. After finishing our...

Seven Wonders of 21st Century Architecture

...Seven Wonders of 21st Century Architecture You may not be able to name them all, but most people have at least heard of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World. Here’s a list with links: Great Pyramid of Giza, Hanging Gardens of Babylon, Temple of Artemis, Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, Colossus of Rhodes, and the Lighthouse of Alexandria . Of the seven, only the Pyramid remains, the rest we know of only through historic documents.[1] There have been other “7 Wonders” lists and in 2007, the Swiss government sponsored a project to create a new list, with selections made by popular vote. Over 100 million votes were cast, and the new 7 Wonders were announced as follows: Chichen Itza (the Yucatan, Mexico pyramid), Christ the Redeemer (Brazil’s enormous statue of Jesus), Colosseum (Rome’s arena of Gladiators),Great Wall of China (you can see it from space!),Machu Picchu (ancient city built on an unbelievably high mountain top in Peru),Petra (Jordan’s city cut directly into the side of a stone mountain ),and the Taj Mahal (India’s majestic temple/mausoleum).[2] But my final Cyber Journey of the semester started not as a stroll through history, but as a trip into the future of arts and Architecture with a look at another “7 Wonders” list – The 7 New Wonders of the 21st Century [3], as selected by Architecture, an online review published by the website Quazen. With no further ado, here are the 7: * Millau Viaduct http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millau_Viaduct ...
