I interviewed a very interesting kid named Miles C. Hutchins from Lake Land College. I met him at the Lake Land Living apartments and this is where the interview took place. He has long hair and tends to always wear a hat. I found out that we competed against each other in Junior High basketball. Miles played football and basketball in High School. He was a point guard in basketball and quarterback in football. Miles has an identical twin named Mason. I can now tell them apart after the interview as they have different personalities. Miles enjoys going hunting and fishing and competing in Bull Riding competitions. He learned how to work hard through his father’s farm and excavating business. Miles loved to be outdoors. Most of his free time is spent hunting or fishing with his friends. The state of …show more content…
His father has a cattle farm and runs an excavating business. On a typical workday, he is working with the cattle or pouring concrete for the excavating business. The greatest influence to him in life is his father. He has learned the importance of a strong work ethic from his father. His father wakes him up on workdays at 6:00 AM to eat breakfast together, and then tells him what he has to do at work for that day. He enjoys not having to travel far to work every morning since he lives on the farm and his father appreciates the help. Miles enjoys spending time with his dad, hunting and fishing also. His dad does not have much time to do those things, but when time allows he enjoys every minute of it. Miles father is his greatest influence, but his twin has helped him in being a hard worker also. Having a twin brother makes Miles always wants to work harder and accomplish more than his brother. He enjoys being close to his family and working with them almost every day and hopes that he and his brother can stick together and keep it going in the

Fieldwork #1 Interview a Classmate

...essay on your fieldwork and your results.  READ CAREFULLY AND MAKE SURE TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS. Doing the assignment is as much a test your ability to follow directions as it is of your fieldwork project!   1. Prepare with a Brainstorm: Ask yourself your family’s dinnertime habits, meal-sharing at home, and customs at your table, who eats when, what it means to have food and share it, what it means to gather at a table with family, who is your dinnertime family, and what expectations or ideals you have for dinnertime. Think carefully about your own dinnertime experiences BEFORE you ask your interview questions. Brainstorm by typing for 4 minutes--save this work, as you will need to turn it in with the rest of your assignment. 2. Interview a classmate (or friend): Now you have thought about how dinnertime and meal-sharing works in your family. So, next you will develop 5 interview questions. Your goal is to learn how someone else experiences dinnertime and meal-sharing with his/her family. I want you to attempt an anthropological view of dinnertime practices. You will need to choose a focus, but you could explore many different questions. Here are some ideas (you may choose from this list or come up with your own questions): How are your dinnertimes organized? Who attends? Who cooks? Who cleans? Do you all eat together? Does it matter? Do you have special traditions at the dinner table (like reviewing the day or praying)? What gender roles are learned and taught at...

Premeditation or Accident?

...like paradise since we could do pretty much whatever we wanted of course within the school’s rule that is. I remembered sitting in between a small gathering of friends. There were 5 to 6 rows of chairs aligned vertically with like about 5 to 7 chairs in each row line. As I finished my work, I asked my classmate Oscar, who was sitting in front of me, to let me borrow his portable radio cassette player (better known as Walkman). Then I proceeded to scan through the radio stations and that's when I started listen to power 106 with Jay Thomas. He was usually playing old school rap, funk and freestyle or whatever the new style of music was at that moment. My close classmates followed finishing the classwork as I was enjoying the sound of a good song, when I noticed one of my classmate ,can't remember his name but for now I’m going to refer to him as Mario, sitting two seats up on my right side of the aisle pulling a gun from his backpack. I am not an expert in guns, but from far away it looked like .22 caliber pistol. The small gathering got quiet as they were astonished by the heavy cold metal object since some of us have never seen a gun before. Avilio, one of my close classmates, was sitting right behind Mario's desk and by the movement of his lips; I could almost read the words coming out of his mouth asking Mario why would he bring a gun to school? I can't recall if i...

...and different from others since no one else had been called by the agent except him. I could deeply felt the author’s feeling for being different from others because I have a similar experiment when I was in primary school. Unlike many students who like smiling and talking to others, I was not an outgoing student, which caused my classmates and teachers thought I was a “cool” girl. The word “cool” didn’t mean “unfriendly”, but mean I was not used to get alone with others. I tried to talk to some of my classmates, but the conversations between us soon over. I couldn’t talk a lot because I was afraid my words would hurt others. Sometimes, I was jealous the people who have a good communicate ability and have a lot of friends. One day, when I was having an English class, the teacher asked me to present a conversation with another student in our class. I was feeling nervous and awkward at the time when I stood up. I didn’t know what I should talk and even how to start this conversation. I knew my classmates and my teachers were looking forward to what I was going to say since I was such a “cool” girl in their eyes. “Hi!” said by my classmate. “Hi!” I said. “How are you?” He asked. “Good.” I answered. “Good! What did you do yesterday?” “ Study.” “Wow, you are a hardworking student. What did you have for dinner yesterday?” “Fish.” “I ate fish for dinner yesterday too. “ “Em.” I nodded my head. “Well, nice to talk to you, Bye.” “Bye.” After the conversation...

...A Memorable Talk If you ask me what scenes impress me most? I will tell you a simple but memorable talk with my classmate. I could well remember it happened on the way to a gathering with my high school classmates, which was held in a cafe in the last spring festival. At that day, I dressed a little different with a pair of minipants and a shiny Martin boots, and most importantly, I made up a bit for the first time in my life. So on the way to the cafe, my high school classmate immediately flattered me and complemented on how I looked beautifully with the changes I made, driving me to be so proud of myself. However, not long later, the idea of me being the most beautiful and successful one among my classmates soon vanished. It broke my heart and even embarrassed me when she told me she had read a great amount of books over the past year, coveing philosophy, psychology, and a book of autobiography . Besides, she travelled around our country with nobody but her own self. I doubted her courage but she assured me that it was after reading those books that changed her mind. They gave her great inspiration. She told me all the interesting things happened in the past year, and suggested me to grab the opportunity of studying in college for it could really make some differences in my life. What a confident, active and intelligent girl she is. Her amazing experiences are completely out of my expectation, for in my opinion she was once a most chicken-hearted student who didn't dare...

Behavorial Interview

...Behavioral Interview Techniques – The STAR Approach Situation or Task Describe the situation that you were in or the task that you needed to accomplish. You must describe a specific event or situation, not a generalized description of what you have done in the past. Be sure to give enough detail for the interviewer to understand. This situation can be from a previous job, from a volunteer experience, or any relevant event. Action you took Describe the action you took and be sure to keep the focus on you. Even if you are discussing a group project or effort, describe what you did -- not the efforts of the team. Don't tell what you might do, tell what you did. Results you achieved What happened? How did the event end? What did you accomplish? What did you learn? Use examples from internships, classes and school projects, activities, team participation, community service, hobbies and work experience -- anything really -- as examples of your past behavior. In addition, you may use examples of special accomplishments, whether personal or professional, such as scoring the winning touchdown, being elected president of your Greek organization, winning a prize for your artwork, surfing a big wave, or raising money for charity. Wherever possible, quantify your results. Numbers always impress employers. Remember that many behavioral questions try to get at how you responded to negative situations; you'll need to have examples of negative experiences ready, but try to...

...Sample Interview Questions with Suggested Ways of Answering Q. Tell me about yourself. A. This is the dreaded, classic, open-ended interview question and likely to be among the first. It's your chance to introduce your qualifications, good work habits, etc. Keep it mostly work and career related. Q. Why do you want to leave your current job? (Why did you leave your last job?) A. Be careful with this. Avoid trashing other employers and making statements like, "I need more money." Instead, make generic statements such as, "It's a career move." Q. What are your strengths? A. Point out your positive attributes related to the job. Q. What are your weaknesses? A. Everybody has weaknesses, but don't spend too much time on this one and keep it work related. Along with a minor weakness or two, try to point out a couple of weaknesses that the interviewer might see as strengths, such as sometimes being a little too meticulous about the quality of your work. (Avoid saying "I work too hard." It's a predictable, common answer.) For every weakness, offer a strength that compensates for it. Q. Which adjectives would you use to describe yourself? A. Answer with positive, work-oriented adjectives, such as conscientious, hard-working, honest and courteous, plus a brief description or example of why each fits you well. Q. What do you know about our company? A. To answer this one, research the company before you interview. Q. Why do you want to work for us? A. Same as above. Research the company...
