...for. Personalized Customer Service is not possible to be offered in every business, it only means different things to different companies depending on their market and their strategy. Findings: Offering personalized customer service can make your business very attractive to customers. While such service often cost more to produce, which is then reflected in the price, many customers are happy to pay more money if it means they will get exactly what they want. Businesses claim that personalized customer Service can drive revenue, differentiate valued customers, and increase loyalty. But success with these technologies depends on knowing your customers and what your business want to achieve, conducting due diligence, having the right team in place, and receiving high-level management commitment. We all like to be treated as individuals, and that is why personalized customer service builds loyalty. We know the names of our favorite bank teller,...

...Managing and Motivating Teams MGT 534 Professor: William Cavalco Learning Session 1 April 19, 2012 Team Experience Paper By Shameka D. Carter Belonging to a team in the broader sense is the result of feeling something larger than you. It has a lot to do with your understanding of the mission or the objectives of your organization. Even if you have a specific job function or belong to a specific department, you need to be unified with other members of the organization in order to make a meaningful contribution to its overall success. Teamwork was a part of my undergraduate degree and I consider myself to be a strong team player when and where necessary. I have also experienced taking a back seat and allowing more capable members to take the leadership role. I was open to criticism and consider it essential to share something which might bring out a better performance. I have worked independently as well as in a team; some jobs match and require a teamwork effort while others fit an individual work. There usually is no team, neither professional or personal that has not faced some problems and disagreement among teammates. However, when working on a team in the workplace, each team member is not only responsible for his or her task but also responsible for the progress of the team goals as a whole. Challenges that I faced during the course of my group project were the various personalities as well as time management issues with team members. I have had...

...Developing Managerial Capabilities Learning Team Experience by 87807 Analysis of Team Experience We are the Asian Super Team. Our name is derived from the fact that all of us come from Asia, in particular East Asia. From the beginning, I was pretty apprehensive about the team experience. My expectations were bordering on guarded caution to indifference. The reason being that out of the four syndicates I had in the first semester, only one turned out to be really fruitful and enjoyable while the other three were terrible nightmares The first synergistic syndicate experience was actually the Organisations syndicate with members from diverse backgrounds. The other three were task-driven, had little group member satisfaction and achieved only mediocre work. The initiatives to align group members and to start on tasks fell mostly on my shoulders and I was terribly disappointed by the contrast between these groups and the Organisations syndicate. Therefore, to prevent such a re-occurrence, I kept my hopes down to a minimum. In the very first session, we established our team charter and operating norms. The team charter and operating norms are affixed in the appendix A. The 5th of July marks a momentous day in the life of the AST learning team. Basically, on the day of the Learning Team Self-Review, our learning team’s inadequateness and non-performance in some areas were exposed (A summary of the results of that review is in Appendix B). The wide...

...Team Development Experience CMGT/530 - IT Organizational Behavior February 11, 2013 Bridgette Hardy Team Development Experience As the new millennium approaches, health care professionals were changing the way in which they are caring for people. Managed care started emphasizing and scrutinizing outcomes like never before. The spiraling health care costs stimulating by the interactions dating back to the end of World War II and by a belief of solving this crisis through a team management type of approach. During this time of tumultuous change, a health care institution has an opportunity to expand its vision of health care to include both primary care and school-based population health. With this new vision, the health care organization thought it could help to meet national objectives while improving the health of its community. Well-Functioning Unit Most health care organizations have service as a principal focus. It became essential for the health care organization to view the service function of its clinical practice as an interaction between what professionals within the organization already offer and the potential for expanding services within the school-based population health. Formulating a team approach would require a joint action on this specific effort moving it toward the common goal. This process requires different teams at different times. At any giving time, one team will be the principal team moving the process forward. According to Robbins and...

...Management I: People and Teams Historical Team-Experience Assessment My experience on teams is far from extensive. Most of my professional work has been independent in nature, and I have never been a “joiner;” I generally have not been drawn to join groups or teams, as I have an aversion to what often seems a contrived or asinine purpose. However, I can draw on a few poignant experiences I’ve had in various teams to identify what has been effective and ineffective in the pursuit of a common goal. My hope is that the combination of what I’ve learned from those experiences with the specific curriculum of this course will provide me with ample tools to be an effective, agreeable, and high-functioning team member in my Action Learning Project (ALP) team and the various other teams I will participate in at BGI. The best performing team I was a part of was actually an offshoot of a larger team. In 2001, I attended a semester-long wilderness course in Patagonia, Chile offered by the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). This course consisted of three distinct sections: a month of sea kayaking, a month of mountaineering, and a ten-day section of Independent Student Travel (IST) to finish out the semester. For the first two sections I was part of the Avalanchas, a team of eighteen led by five instructors who made almost every decision and were completely responsible for the structure and direction of the group. This dynamic was understood and agreed to by all, as we were in...

...Introduction: Individual Reflection on Team Experience Today in many industries and organizations group/team work is a tool for effective achievement of organizational goals. Understanding the way groups develop and how they impact organizational success is important to the effective use of groups in organizations. One of the most common models to describe how groups develop was described by Tuckman. Tuckman studied group development as it was seen in group therapy. This was then extrapolated to involve the development of all groups and teams that exist in areas such as those seen in organizations. In 1966, Tucker proposed that group development progressed through four identifiable stages which were named forming, storming, norming and performing. The Tuckman model for the stages of group development is one of the most cited models in the business world. Over the years there were other studies that also agreed that groups go through stages and they had identified that there appeared to be an “ending” stage as well. In 1977 Tuckman with Jensen reviewed who the stages of group development had evolved over the years since his first proposal of the stages of group development and in response to other studies they added a final stage of group development which the called adjourning (Tuckman & Jensen, 1977). The adjourning stage will not be reviewed in this paper since there was no real adjourning stage with this group. Another model for group development is the punctuated equilibrium...

...When I was a little kid I hated going outside. The dirty, hot air, and almost everything else irritated me. I just wanted to stay in and watch TiVo. or play games. But my father pushed me to go outside and play baseball. I was beyond terrible, I couldn’t catch, run, or hit like most eight year olds. Then I joined little league even though I smiled I hated all the kids there. Then my dad went even further and started a baseball team. For the next three years I had to spend most of my time with these idiots… The people on the new team were all older or taller than me. And no one trusted or liked each other. We even went the first year with almost no wins. Then almost everyone on the team left. Then next year we started a new team with new people....

...Many projects in a workplace may be too large for one individual to handle, or complete to a high standard against the time frame targeted. Organisations employ teams into their structure to distribute tasks to all members to ensure achievable workload. Teams are a group of people with a variety of skills who all work together to serve a focused purpose but need varied inputs to achieve overall tasks. Further defined, “a team is a small number of people with complementary skills who are committed to a common purpose, performance goals and approach for which they are mutually accountable” (SMITH,J. 1993. Teams and leadership (8th November 2011). An organization benefits from this array of minds, skills, views, tactical approaches and problem solving from a team oppose to one individual carrying out the task. A team helps productivity of the tasks completion and improves time taken to complete task aims because individuals have manageable workload. A team caries out tasks that contribute to the organisation overall purpose and aims, therefor leadership is needed to be implemented in order for the teams direction and output to be accurate towards the organisation, of standard and completed in time frame needed. “ Leadership is the art to influencing and directing people in such a way that will win their obedience, confidence, respect and loyal cooperation in achieving common objectives” JOHNSON, M. 2003 Business Dictionary (8th November 2011). Leadership is carried out by a leader...

...The Lumen and Absorb Teams at Crutchfield Chemical Engineering Case Introduction: We would like to give a brief outline of the Crutchfield chemical engineering company (CCE). This company is a U.S subsidiary of PPQ worldwide industries it was acquired in 1996 by them. It’s main line of business is speciality chemical lines and has been replacing this with engineered lines for a variety of products. CCE was in the last stage of a companywide downsizing that had resulted in an 18% reduction in work force over the past six months. In CCE there is a department called Corporate Technology Development (CTE) division. The mission of the CTE is to develop new technologies and products that could yield significant new revenue in new markets over the next five years. This CTE division consists of three departments, with one of the departments being the Polymer’s department which was under Paul Burke, who was the director of this department. This Polymer’s division was sub-divided into five project teams each with their own specific mission, team leaders and members. (They were all research and development teams.) An HR annual study of the skill sets, performance, work environment and motivation of each of Paul Burke’s research and development teams was done. The study contained good and bad news. The good news being that even though CCE had downsized the work force Paul Burke had still nearly managed to keep all the top and qualified performers in his department. The bad...

...Learning Team Summary Henry Woods BCOM/230 July 23, 2012 Byron Johnson Learning Team Summary During the first week of the course many students wondered how this particular learning experience could enhance their ability to be a productive member within a learning team environment. Participating in a learning team environment can often seem intimidating. As the first week progressed suddenly, I realized that this course would introduce the concepts of effective communication within a learning team environment and the business world. As week two began, I felt somewhat apprehensive about working in a learning team environment. Prior to entering this course most students have very little experience within a learning team environment. Some of the team members had been involved in an online structure where there was little or no interaction between classmates unless we were participating in a discussion week. Although I believed that my many years of supervisory experience would make me the likely candidate to lead the learning team, I realized that the best person to lead the team was a member with prior learning team experience. As week two progressed our learning team had to decide who would be the most effective leader, review the learning team tool kit, and establish an effective team charter. Our learning team leader believed it was important for use to have some background knowledge about each member. She quickly took the lead and established our learning team charter giving...

To perform harmoniously the group recognized the diversity of culture, ethnicity and social environment of this newly created high performance team. ...LEARNING TEAM CHARTER – TEAM “A” |Course Title |GEN/195 FOUNDATIONS OF UNIVERSITY STUDIES 2 Team Ground Rules and Guidelines What are the general expectations for all members of the team? To at least acknowledge one another and respond even if it is ‘OK’. We understand how chaotic life, work school, etc. can be but what we all must remember is we decided to attend college (again). Keeping that in mind, contact with one another is a must also. We know we all are pretty much acquaintance and it might be a little difficult to do but to build a great team we need to start a foundation. When it comes to turning in assignments as a team we think it will benefit everyone if we summit to our thread at least a day in advance so one of the other team member (or leader of the week) can put together a draft for all of us to turn in or just decide what name gets what question. We’ve never been much of a team player but this is a learning experience for me and probably other students. We should all remember that we have our team depending on us to pull our weight and make the right choices. 4 Expectations for Time Management and Involvement (Participation, communication with the team, accessibility, etc.) Each individual person should be required to post a general update once during the week in order to keep communication strong. In addition, everyone is...
