Confidentiality is one of the most important aspect between a client-counselor relationship. If explained thorough, it can be used as the initial foundation for the client trust enough to disclose pertinent information to cause change. I liked how you explained the nuances of why you would report a clients for harm to another person, self, child, or you causation or legal obligation. In my opinion, the Colorado DORA laws are very detailed and strict in mandating disclosure about the counselor’s capabilities, how and who the counselors can share their information.
A counselor should consider taking a deliberate process to determine if it is warranted to exercise their duty to warn responsibilities. This decision should not be taken lightly.
